Why do I have to buy Going Rogue in Europe?

Surely, if you like playing in teams then NOT getting GR would limit your opportunities further as a goodly number of people will rush off and get Going Rogue and start playing in the new zones, creating big teams and playing through the new content which you have vowed not to get and will remain in the 'original' zones while, dare I say, most people enjoy the new experience.
Perhaps your plan is to try and persuade all EU members to suddely think 'by golly he's right, let us all not buy GR so we can still play together' as, failing this, you might find that the teams you may get on have to drop you as they decide to 'go rogue' which you can't do because you have declared your intention not to buy GR.
I realy doubt that we will get a server list merge in the short term as welcome as that move would be. I have no reason for this opinion, I just doubt it will happen soon. That allows you to have two options; buy GR and follow the teaming there or don't and see the number of teams drop and come back on the forums to complain about it.
Also, I doubt there are only 30 people playing on Union as that would mean this morning I played with almost a quarter of the entire union population at one time before going on to play with another quarter of them when I changed character.

Nontheless, I am not certain if I will buy GR precisely for the reason that the servers definitely feel empty and I am reluctant to invest more in this game. A merger with the US servers would cure this queasiness. Of course I am not holding my breath here.
Sorry GrinningSpade but this morning I found only 30 user villans (including me) and 100-120 heroes.
If I buy GR will never find team in the Rogue Isles with my heroes.
I am a badge collector and GR could help me do many others villan badges... This would be good.

Well, I have to tell you, badges or veteran rewards didn't stop me.
I had close to 3 year in Eu, but due to the same reason (CoV) I moved to US servers.
Veteran rewards help, but they are not necessary. Living without them is not hard one bit.

But I asked all these same things, but it'd seem it's not going to happen.
Luckily though people who purchase new clients get both coh and cov with a reasonable price (compared to what I first paid for the game box.) I know it's not a big relief, but it is something.
But the boosteres aren't too expensive are they? Or am I remembering wrong?
And yeah the reason I started from zero was that I prefer playing villains. Villain side is always less populated than the hero. This is somewhat of a problem for people who play villains on slightly smaller servers. This is all what I think though, but I don't regret anything.

Wait, you logged on on Sunday morning and were actually surprised to find not many players? Hell, man, US servers don't get that many people either at that time. Gamers are notorious night owls, 9p-4am or later on a weekend is when the people are on, come Sunday am they've not long gone to bed!

I do think it might be cool if they just added the Euro servers to ours and gave the players the option. If I was in Europe and played in on those server, I would contemplate quitting too. Nobody plays an MMO to solo almost all the time (well, I wouldn't think). Maybe NC Soft will give you the option to transfer your account to the NA servers one the EU servers are almost shut down. Might be sooner than you think.
Lastly, I love the class of the jerk-offs with the rude replies. Way to add to the game and make your fellow CoH'ers feel welcome. You guys need to grow up.

A late reply to the original post.
So, yes, maybe numbers have gone down since 2007 or since the start of the game. Looks to me like that is pretty natural thing. Wasn't there a survey somewhere that stated that MMO players stick to a game for a certain amount of time? It is nowhere near dying though. And there are still new players coming to this game. Even in Europe.
They(NCSoft) obviously gain a profit from this game otherwise we would have shut down or server mergers or something.
Going Rogue will give a whole new area to play with and villains you never saw before and also heroes you never saw before. I personally can't wait to bring my MM to the Hero side. But I can think of some heroes of mine who could go dark.
The whole new area, the new sets and probably some other stuff are for me reason enough to buy GR on the EU side as I have no intention to start again on the NA side.
In the end, you don't have to buy the GR expansion at all. That's up to you, but don't go "threatening" you might go play CO as if that is going to make them consider merging the server lists.

There is perhaps a possibility that at one point the base game of CoX could become free, with boosters applied meaning little money spent for added content. Adding GR in then though meaning that you would have to subscribe. Adding in other possible major updates in for monthly payment too (some Back to the Future FOR REAL stuff anyone? I want to fight dinosaurs! Or Neanderthals that aren't green!).
It would not be a strange move to be honest, not with the micro payments option in place already. It could be expanded on. Pay for Play, when you want to up your game...
