I don't get it, but apparently it has something to do with this video.

I still don't get it.

It's from Fallout 3. Your childhood associates/bullies grow up to form a gang in the fallout shelter you all live in. They are called the Tunnel Snakes, and apparently, they rule.

I killed them all in my playthrough though. Moar like Tunnel Snakes suck!

Please post a link to my "screaming" anywheres in this thread. To be honest, I seem considerably less exercised than yourself or a few other people in here, who fly off the handle at opinions which do not march in lockstep with your own.

Can't handle dissention? Take it somewheres else, this drama gives me a headache.

I really expect more from you than this sort of drivel.

And hate to break it to ya.... I'm going No. and Where, in that order. Here to stay. Start dealing, because this is Rumor Control and that is a fact that you cannot do a single, solitary thing about. Cya, troll.

I think it should be possible to talk about a reduction in xp that an enemy type gives in a superhero computer game without getting grouchy or aggressive towards each other - it not really that important

Just curious....but which of the nerfs do you oppose? All of them? One or more? Seriously, in intelligent discourse, there should be a distinction between nerfs and balance. With the exception of ED(which I have no problem with now), all of the 'nerfs' were properly made for balance issues. The VAST majority seem to approve of this. I'm still not sure what your current rants are about. Although...you do have a history of complaining just to complain....which is curious to me personally as you seem to have a higher than average intelligence.

To bring some balance, I actually think they're badly overbalancing experience rewards with I16. The Freakshow experience is reduced too much - more than they deserve. But beyond that, custom critter experience is just being decimated (in the ACTUAL sense of the word). I just caught a thread about it on one of the test forums (I forgot which) detailing how only Extreme/Extreme critters are worth as much experience as normal critters in the game (while being VASTLY more powerful) and how simply removing a power from what Normal suggests, even if you add a several much more powerful powers back in, reduces critter experience EVEN MORE.

There's balance, and then there's simply not worth fighting. Harder enemies should have higher rewards, and this is not true for either the Freakshow or Architect critters right now.

Hmm... gotta agree with that, Sam. I've been steering clear of this thread, but yeah, it's a bit much. It's hard enough to get people to play (non-farm) custom arcs without them being gutted, exp-wise >.<

And Bad_Influence, I must question, dear- you do realize that if enough people became invested in your hysterical doom-squawking, it would become a self-fulfilling prophecy, as the doomcriers fled like rats from a burning barn and made sure that nobody came to replace them by filling all corners of the internet with claims of the implosion of CoH?

Changes you don't like are not the death of the game. Changes you do like are not the Second Coming. Moderation in all things is as valid online as it is off, if not moreso (waves to TheOcho).

This is an Internet discussion forum--mild disagreement comes in the form of comparing you unfavorably to Hitler. Stronger disagreement is in the form of suggesting you'd be a more productive member of society if you were turned into Soylent Green.

And by the way, to get back on topic, I do agree a Freakshow XP nerf was long, long overdue. I also believe that the XP may have been reduced too much. Although I was mulling it last night.... I believe XP for most Nemesis is .9; at high levels, Nemesis with all their AoE are more dangerous than Freakshow. In that light I could see Freaks being .8. That really makes me wonder about Council/5th though. Still and all, leveling is so much faster in this game compared to a few years ago, the Freak XP reduction really doesn't amount to much at the end of the day.

Last I checked most farmers used maniacs.

This makes me facepalm. :|

I'm not even sure where to start explaining the ridiculousness in this post.

Bump Carnies up to about 3.0x and I might not get nauseous at the idea of fighting Master Illusionists!

Ugh, I know. Some of the xp limitations on custom enemies are a damn good idea. Others... dicey.

You're already giving up your Patrol XP to play in MA, which, I dont know about most players, but is a huge factor for me. I have so many different characters that I almost always have a full level of patrol xp backed up on me. So anyone who wants to play the stories I made is already making a sacrifice.

Now of course you get your xp cut if you dont have a full faction, which I think is a good thing.

And I agree that xp should be balanced around how dangerous the enemy actually is. So I've been re-customizing my custom factions so that when I-16 hits they'll all give their full xp value. And yeah, they're absurdly dangerous and powerful now. It's pretty stupid. But I want people to be able to level during my stories, I dont want to make it any slower than it already is, so... I don't know what else I can do.

Am I the only one that doesn't like Freakshow?

For purely selfish reasons, I don't mind this change because they irritate the crap out of me and maybe now I'll see them less (as teams opt out of choosing them on radios).

I see lots of people mention that they aren't "hard". That is true enough. That isn't why they are irritating.

Others may have a different experience, but here is the way it normally goes for me:
The team will cheer as the leader chooses a Freakshow mish for the umteenth time. We enter the mish and begin fighting. Good times at first as powers are going off left and right. But then...

  • Scenario 1-Part of the team moves on to the next group as one or more Freaks rez behind them. The trailing members will then be stuck fighting in reduced numbers or have to run quickly to group up again. The lead group has of course been fighting without the trailing members during all this.
  • Scenario 2-The team waits a few seconds to see if any of the Freaks are going to rez and will then proceed to put the rezzers down for a 2nd time. Less efficiently of course since any AoE powers are a waste against lone foes.

I always assumed the extra xp was a reward for putting up with this irritating bunch. They slow a team down. Any extra xp is offset by the typical less efficient manner in which teams fight them.

So applause...I hope to hear "I haven't fought Freaks in a month" in game.

As long as you still get the rez XP, I don't see a big problem. I wonder if tougher or more annoying groups will have their XP increased, such as KoA or DE?

Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?

I laugh too, but some people just can't stand not being efficient. Then there are people like me, who screw around. The two groups are best kept far apart.

My other hobbies include spinning and knitting. There are people that make a living teaching others how to be more efficient at both.
