Reduced XP for Freakshow now
Here we disagree. There are things you can do that are so beyond the norm in dev-created space, that any rational person would recognize as well beyond the scope of the game. These things, I'd have no problem with action regardless of the lack of definition.
|
You know what you think is an exploit.
Someone else?
there are as many potential definitions as there are players.
MA brought in lots of new players. People who aren't familiar with the general parameters of the game are expected to figure out what is and isn't an "exploit"?
You may not recognize them... but you may not be rational (j/k friendly ribbing :P) |
The traditional solution (patch the problem area and move on) is the best.
An ambiguous-margin system only really works effectively if there's such a "warning shot" letting people know that they're approaching a dangerous zone. Ambiguous and hard-lined enforcement is where the biggest failures lie. |
So overzealous enforcement won't ever be acceptable.
Going by the reaction to 'bubble' farms I'm glad they've (seemingly) mothballed the tough-guy act and reinstated the policy of fixing problems without bashing the people who pay their salaries.

A definition that rests on individual interpretation by such a disparate group as the our playerbase isn't useful. The devs won't define it and we can't (in any meaningful communal way).

im just wondering what posi plans on doing with the market..who ya thinks supplys 90% of the recipes ....devs should play their own game and realize the 2ndary effects of their nerfing...this is why you now have smoothed the xp curve TWICE in this game.
cant wait till the 3rd time you do it..

The XP curve has been made easier because of reward nerfs! Brilliant.

@Razoras
This change will not affect my desire to whoop up on the Freakshow. Sure, they gave mad xp/inf, but they're still fun to arrest!
But how does this change reflect against other critters? Freakshow still pack a nasty punch. How does the risk/reward aspect factor into this change?
Todays patch note
Minion and Lieutenant Freakshow entities in the level 20-38 range have had their XP multiplier set to 0.95, up from 0.8 |

Well done.
Heh. It's not 1.00, but virtually so. But since it's still under 1.00 the farmers will psychologically consider Freakshow to be XP lepers now.

he time invested in that firefighting, with very little XP or loot drop reward in that time, is significant- and you can easily spend that time earning XP, Reward, and OTHER BADGE content elsewhere. |
Well it's not quite where I wanted them to be, but it's better. It still means I'll be skipping Westin Phipps from now on, but in pre 40 play I wont be avoiding the Freakshow specific missions at least.

Hooray indeed. Cooler heads have prevailed.
So much for the dooooooomsayers who predicted more widespread nerfing of other enemy groups following the Freakshow nerf.
Edit: Primal: What's up with your cat? That avatar seriously weirds me out.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?
A: You crash into another one.
At this point I'm led to believe that Primal is collecting people that say that, as if he has a list of folks creeped out by that cat. Or at least a counter.

....And why the hell do for post-40 Freaks deserve to get less xp? Post-40 Freaks are an exploit...? Who the hell knew.

The mind boggles. Apparently you do 15% more damage by virtue of being 40th level of higher, and so the xp needs to be cut accordingly to balance it out.

- copy/paste from todays i16 release notes.
This is the only note regarding freaks and xp...does this mean the lvl 39+ versions are still giving the same xp as before?
I am confused. I thought it was the higher level range freaks that were being xp nerfed...
So what does this mean for lvl 50 freak missions?
So what does this mean for lvl 50 freak missions? |
I really dont understand the reason behind this change/nerf.
They are very interested in levelling speed. Things that increase that speed beyond what they're comfortable with get nerfed.
You may not recognize them... but you may not be rational (j/k friendly ribbing :P)
I'd also support the broad generalized warning, provided it accounted for one specific element: between the "underperforming compared to the dev game" and "obvious exploit" is a VAST gray area, thanks to that overly-general description. These need a warning before action is taken, just so abuser and enforcer understand where in the spectrum the action falls.
An ambiguous-margin system only really works effectively if there's such a "warning shot" letting people know that they're approaching a dangerous zone. Ambiguous and hard-lined enforcement is where the biggest failures lie.
