farmers didn't define freakshow XP, the devs did.

You mean, people were forced to farm Freakshow missions, because the evil devs gave them a too high xp modifier so that the only possibility to stop the abuse of Freakshow missions was to drastically reduce the rewards?
Yeah, that makes sense.

If it has
eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

The word "blaming" suggests that they did something wrong here. The risk/reward ratio for Freaks has been off for quite a while, and this is definitely an easier solution than making them more dangerous. What you see as persecuting an "innocent" segment of the player population, I see as fixing design flaws.

I never really got why the Freakshow gave out more experience than other groups. They're not really any tougher than other groups. In fact, they've always been easier for me since my characters tend to deal energy damage.

I would much rather fight Freakshow than Vahz or Arachnos.

IIRC, the major explanation for it was that the Freakshow have the annoying tendency to stick around after being defeated, which can be a problem for a number of builds (particularly when a Boss gets back up) or small groups.

Personally, I think the fact that you get double defeat credit for the Freakshow was gift enough. :/

Yeah, I would have figured the double XP would have been appropriate compensation... Freakshow are pretty mild as far as difficulty goes.

I agree the bonus XP was out of line. But I think lowering it to 80% is perhaps too much. Although when you compare them to several other late-game groups, I guess I can see the reasoning.

So: let's start a pool for how long it's going to take for Council (and I guess 5th Column) to get hit with a similar XP reduction.

Freedom: Blazing Larb, Fiery Fulcrum, Sardan Reborn, Arctic-Frenzy, Wasabi Sam, Mr Smashtastic.

I'm no kind of numbers guy, but isn't the Council already one of the lowest anyway?

I had always guessed it was related to their abundant use of dull pain, causing them to (usually) require more damage to kill regardless of damage type used.

Wait, how does that make them scale? Did they make them lower than ordinary enemy groups? Because I agree, they don't deserve to award higher rewards, being that they don't have any real resistances and already award experience twice if killed twice. But I'm not sure I agree they should award LESS experience than other enemies, say the Council, who are practically pushovers for the most part, or the Sky Raiders, who are more annoying than difficult.

I always thought it was just the fact that you get twice the XP from one enemy when they rez themselves that made them popular choices for farming. My solution would have been to have them and other rezzing foes just not give XP for a period of time after rezzing, as an equivalent to how players are immune to getting XP debt for a period of time after a rez. But I suppose this works, too, and there might be reasons other than what I mentioned for reducing their XP rewards than compensating for their self-rezzing abilities.

'dats about where i see it too. freaks give to much reward, just reduce the reward. they still give reasonable rewards.

hey... everyone in here dumping on Xyzyx for his statement...

Please carry on.

As to the change in XP, it's been a long time coming. No surprise there.

Be well, people of CoH.

I had no idea freaks gave better rewards. I farmed them at times because they were more fun for me, and looked cool.

I think I got my farming license revoked.

Oh well, I farm redside anyway. There aren't many freaks to farm in the 50's there.

I actually never new they gave more XP.

Enjoy your day please.

.8 is a little harsh for a group that gives themselves dull pain and can Rez (Freaks can be a pretty big pain in the 20's as well) but agreed that the reduction was a long time coming....are there any groups left that actually give higher than standard xp? I'm thinking everything in the shadow shard should at least be double.

Just another example of why you really need to use sensible sentence construction or you come across as a word salad-shooter.
