Reduced Badge Requirements in I16

Hmm, I'm in mixed feelings about the badges. First I must say that I am delighted that many of the requirments are lowered. (Good move)

(And here come the but)
The other feeling is.. (monthy python yeay)... When I-16 hits live I will get the rest of the "Epic" badges when I log on. (Now i'm glad that i prioritized collecting Day Job badges).
That however leaves me with the following question... What to do now?
The badges I got left to collect (must have shinies) are now just the rest of the dayjobs, some veteran badges (they will take their time) and 2 new Master OF... badges (whatever their short name will be MoITF, MoRTF/MoKahn.. whatnot)...
How I pity the Empath badge being reduced x2 times... (not really and chuckles).

But on the badgefront... what will I and those that find themselves in my position do?
What is there for us to do on the badgefront...
Probably I will end up doing them all again on alts. *sigh*

Having spent the last two double xp weekends killing Banished Pantheon until my eyeballs bled to get Popular, I am SOOOOO glad I will not have to do it again for Leader.

However, some of the new numbers seem a bit off. The FIRST epic damage taken badge is still at 25 mil....I have never gotten the 10 mil badge before 50, ever, on any character.

Dropping most of the defeat badges to a nice even 100 instead of the arbitrary 200s and 500s is a nice change. And THANK YOU THANK YOU for reevaluating Born in Battle...now if we could only get rid of the stupid debt badge requirement for High Pain Threshold...

With the reduction in the debt badge requirements, I don't mind debt badge 4 as part of high pain.....

.....though I'm not sure I'm too keen on having to have Hammer Down from killing Ghost of Scrapyard vs the Siren 5 hr badge as part of Born in Battle.

Also am definitely not thrilled about the new Master badges.......

I asked in a PM and got the reply and Synapse confirmed it that the Master of ... badges follow the same requirments as Master of Statesman Taskforce/Lord Recluce.

Ah, thanks.
Very interesting: I still won't be getting all of the epic badges but I'll be closer to finishing some of the epic sets and somewhat middle way towards the really high ones (like damage). That's what you get for playing 48 months with two badge characters and not farming for anything.

I think these are finally balanced badge requirements. If you play normally/casually you will get a chance at them. Farming for them will of course reduce that time, but that's the way it goes.

Think the new MoX line ones weren't necessary but hey... gives me a new reason for doing the ITF twice, and both the KhTF and BSF once more.

Overall, I like it. Even if it's not new content, finally there's something I like new to the game. I give it a "4 out of 5 carrots".

Yeah, now I feel like Immortal is within reach on my MM now.

The question is, do I farm for damage now to the amount I need for the last badge, or wait until i16 so I can see the more accurate progress bar amount I need?

Also, Dayjobs and Master of *insert taskforcehere* is left for me.

Wonder if there will ever be a Master badge for every TF in the near future?

Just farm now. You'll still have an accurate progress bar, you just wont earn the badge once you get the value shown.

I object to it on principle. You should not be rewarded for sucking. (Note that I had this accolade the moment it went live on my villain main, and farming it is stupidly easy, if a bit tedious.)

Again, I agree with this change based on principle, not the difficulty or lack thereof of obtaining the badges. It's the old "we were told we wouldn't have to enter PvP zones; heroes don't have to do it for an accolade, so why should villains?" argument. Again, I have no objections to entering PvP zones myself, and frequently do so for the patrol temp powers, even though I usually don't like PvP.

I loved the badge changes so much that I kissed them, like a man would kiss a woman.

What I'm saying is use a sanitary wipe if you plan to also kiss said changes in the near future.

As for the changes, I'm torn about them.
While I love the changes to Born in Battle and the kill badges, debt badges and damage badges, a small part of me regrets the Infamy/Heal badges being lowered.

To be clear, I already have Popular in its current state and I was never going to get Empath in its previous state, at lesat without Gladiator farming. In the end though, while I am a proponent of most things being achievable ingame, there are some things that should take time and dedication to achieve. Empath was right up there for that, along with Immortal.

I give these changes four bubbles. Would have been five but I feel for those who laboured to get Empath and the epic damage badges.

The outcast badge (100 outcast bosses) needs attention.
No, not hero side.

I mean villain side.
You don't find them anywhere villain side except for in 1 specific mission (from the contact Operative Wellman).
That particular mission is full of wyvern, with a couple of side mobs of Tsoo and Outcasts. If you run it with a team of 8, you are lucky to get 4 outcast bosses at most.
Oh and the Wyvern like to kill the outcasts also.
You pretty much have to rinse/repeat the mission 40 or so times to get the badge.

That in itself was painful enough. I did it once, and never will again.
And I'm glad I got it done when they conned grey.
With the changes in i16, a whole team will con the same level. I honestly can't see anyone wanting to repeat that mission 40 or so times by skipping all the prickly wyvern arrows to find the few surviving outcasts. *shudders*.

The only non exploitive fix I see to this, is if they add outcasts to one of the villain zones (or add a new zone villain side with outcasts in it).

I can't help but think maybe, despite so many of us who focus on villain badges more than heroes now having it, someone at NCNC doesn't realize there's a mission with 1 or 2 Outcast bosses in it villainside just yet.

I agree with MB, Going Rogue should handle it. Outcasts as a whole fit the whole theme, as they can be both good or bad depending on the writing of the arc they are in.

I appreciate the sentiment as some of my alts have Immortal and my main badger got empath the instant ish 13 hit since it had just enough.

However even with that extra zero dropped from Empath with ish 13, the badge was improved but still really could only be arena farmed, while damage badges were untouched.

Something had to be done and this was it. Are they too low? Did they perhaps overcompensate? I don't think so. I think they are now at a more acceptable level so that they can be obtained over time withOUT needing farms.

*sigh* whatever happened to switching sides for character concept reasons? Now even the devs are telling us to do it for mechanical reasons.

And it's not like the hardcore badgers who are planning to switch sides for more badges don't already have all the weapon unlock badges.
