Ice/Ice Brutes?

Deth I dont think you can slot for -recharge effects in ice. Slows will slow movement of mobs like quicksand or tarpatch. Not -recharge of attacks. That is unenhanceable iirc.

Personally I think the main reason you haven't seen Ice Armour for Brutes is simply that NRG Aura was / is too similiar in how it works and may have been originally "Ice Armour for villains" when it was being designed.

Edit: yeah, looks like the -recharge is unenhanceable. What I was thinking of was the -recharges stacked up. Either way, when CoV was in beta, Ice/Ice underperformed. I have a feeling each part underperformed enough to pull Ice altogether. As has already been stated, under the new mechanics, Ice should be solid all around.

The thing is, if you were in beta for CoV, you HAVE seen Ice/Ice. They pulled them during beta. The problem is, the rationale for why they were pulled is no longer pertinent.

Dark Armor is like that kid you knew in school that didn't know when to shut up, and no matter how bad he got beaten down, he got right back up again and kept on talking.

I'm going to go with a big bucket of this.

We'll get ice eventually. The devs making the decisions on proliferation know quite well that the anti-fury argument holds no water at all.

Oh yea... to the OP... lolclaws? 240DPS is lol worthy?

Claws is a pretty quick set and is probably going to be really good for fury.
Energy transfer slows fury....
i think if the player wants ice/ or /ice they should be able to. every set has its drawbacks. why not let a brute choose a set he wants to play as a brute? tankers and scrappers both get elec...

i'd really like to see regen on a brute though

"NRG Aura" doesnt hold a candle to ice armor. hoarfrost and hibernate makes ice last so much longer than energy drain.. and that Overload makes you run for cover when or before it drops.

Unless you pop a respite during the crash, your toggles stay up, you hit CP then ED and keep on trucking without issue.

Hibern00b drops your DPS to zero.

Bill speaks the truth. I tested this. Hibernate = -100% damage (for the lols). oh and your fury would slowly drain while hibernating. infact, it would drain faster, just like it does while you rest.

Hibernate = Bad for Brutes

Ammo switching for Dual Pistols was my idea:

and the change to Energy Transfer doesnt make fury drop too?
who cares if hibernate drops fury. other things drop fury. just gives us what we want- Ice Armor. and the regen set would be nice too

I want ice armor as well. Claws/Ice would be groovy. Specially with blue tinted talsorian claws.

Hibernate = Bad for Brutes
Proliferation = Good for Brutes as well as all other classes

You can't build fury in hibernate? Wouldn't you still get some fury from them trying to hit you? or no? Either way give me Ice/Ice plz i don't care lol.

Hmm... I think I'd roll an Ice/Shield brute, if I could.

You would. And solo it wouldn't be a problem. But on teams you'll lose aggro quickly while you hibernate.

Hmm, do you still gain Fury when Phased? With all my experience I don't know that answer. I would assume you would since the enemy is still trying to attack you but you never know if Phase (hibernate) prevents Fury from building.

Quick, someone copy to test and respec into Phase!

Something I haven't seen brought up in this thread yet: when Ice Melee was first given to Brutes, Frozen Aura had not been fixed yet.

Ice Melee was still crap back then. Frost wasn't buffed, and Frozen Aura was still the pitiful sleep that it was. It wasn't until well after I6 that the set got buffed. Before the buffs, Ice Melee would have been a pitiful set on Brutes. Now, it might be okay. Not great, but okay, even with the -recharge (which shouldn't interfere more than other sets, as many of you are saying). But before, it WAS a bad set for Brutes. Bad single-target damage, and horrible AoE potential does not a good Brute set make.

I still think that the low damage was a more major factor for dropping it than the -recharge was, although that didn't help with the beta version of fury.

Yes.

My new Claws/ brute seems to build fury much easier and faster than other brutes I've played. Maybe the math doesn't support it, or I'm fooling myself, but for my playstyle, it finally makes Brutes playable for me.

Low cast times. You can build fury very quickly with claws.

With Frozen Fists and Ice Sword one can build fury fast as well. I have yet to lvl up Hibernate but I know even on a Tank you loose aggro not fury but aggro...it's like Aett said...we are all debating about what times of old...I think now it will be no big deal.

In short, what Dev do I have to sleep with to get Ice Melee Proliferated to Brutes or Stalkers and Pushed for as soon as Going Rogue? (Considering any of the Devs swing that way or if there's any lady Devs) Come on now...Don't be shy!

+1.

I too, would enjoy an Ice/Ice Brute. I occasionally try to roll one up as a Tank, but then remember...I think the devs would be hard-pressed to put together an AT as mind-searingly boring as the Tanker.
