    Ice/Ice Brutes?

    +1.

I too, would enjoy an Ice/Ice Brute. I occasionally try to roll one up as a Tank, but then remember...I think the devs would be hard-pressed to put together an AT as mind-searingly boring as the Tanker.

    So, now what?

To answer questions of levelling speed: I almost exclusively went for the farms until roughly mid-20s. Stamina just made too much of a difference to ignore.

in re: Blaster...I'm actually considering some kind of melee blaster at the moment. They create very large numbers very early in life, which is neat. Dunno if life becomes unsurvivable after level 30, but at level 6 One-Hitter Quitting things is fun.

in re: Mastermind...I love pet classes in MMOs, and as such I learned to quickly love Masterminds. The only thing that turned me off to them was an inability on my end to use IOs to the benefit of my pets, and that didn't matter too much until level 45 or so.

in re: Plant Controller...You know, I don't think I've ever rolled one of these up. I was concerned that it might be too expensive for me to get the recharge necessary for everything. Maybe I'll try a Plant/Kin or something if the Blaster doesn't work.

Keep the ideas coming, and thanks once more to those who have given good ideas so far.

    So, now what?

Well, at this point I don't even care what the 'character concept' is, outside of 'entertaining out of the gate'. The Paladin bit was only mentioned because it was the character prior.

I suppose the answer to the question would be something along the lines of "Because we have Melee ATs, and they aren't rendered obsolete by the advent of the spear, and there were models for both futuristic swords and futuristic shields."

    So, now what?

I apologize in advance. This post will look like a whine/troll, and I suppose to some degree it is.

With i16 out in full swing, I've hit a bit of a lull. I've definitely taken advantage of the pre-i16 ways, which is making post i16 feel unbearably slow. After starting a PB in the i16 environment, only to hang it up after a mere 2 levels (it just felt too slow for my patience level), I started a Broadsword/Shield Defense scrapper. The character design (A futuristic Paladin) amused me at the time, which helped me get to level 8. Even this felt too slow(Broadsword attacks take forever and a day to recharge), however, and I'm coming close to hanging up the boots on that one as well.

I'm turning to the playerbase for assistance. I'm looking for recommendations on a powerset combination that can fulfill these criteria:

    * Exciting and Fast paced within no more than the first hour or so of play.

    * Capable of taking on multiple enemies. I imagine I'll want to move to +8 as quickly as possible.

    * Solable. I don't want to *need* a team in order to feel accomplished.

    * Not a Villain Elite. I never did quite finish up a 50 villain, and now I suspect that won't come to pass anytime soon.

Any constructive ideals would be more than welcome. Red or Blue side is fine.

    Thank you in advance.
  5. Also, while I'm thinking about it: Has anyone ever beaten the recharge for Gang War or Serum down to tolerable levels, and if so how(discounting the multi-billion infamy investments, such as LotG)?

    Again, thanks in advance.
  6. Pretty much as the title says. I'm relatively unexperienced with serious IO slotting, so I'm not familiar with all the little tricks. One wall I'm running into is that there doesn't appear to be much available to increase *pet* damage, since the global boosts supposedly only enhance your hero.

So far, I've put the Knockback damage proc (I don't remember the name right now, I'm sorry) into the Bruiser and Call Thugs power. I *think* I want the Enforcers to have the proc for Damage Resistance Debuff, though I suppose I could slot the proc for more damage in them as well.

Discounting purple sets, What else can I do for maximized pet damage? Or is this basically a waste of time? What do the rest of you guys generally slot for?

    Thank you in advance.
  7. Last night, I got my Elec/Elec brute up to level 20, and bought Lightning Reflexes. I noticed that the recharge bonus doesn't seem to be taken into account when viewing other powers. Is there a way to see what the recharge time is on a given power with the bonus in effect? Is Lightning Reflexes working at all?

    Thanks in advance.
  8. I should've specified: Villainside. My apologies.
  9. Are there any groups/VGs on Virtue or Freedom that routinely play during the morning hours (roughly speaking, 6am to 10am EST)?

    Fire/ Help

    I have a problem: I suck.

I'm currently a level 20 Fire/Fire Dominator. I can't access my character right this very moment, but I know that I have more or less the following:

Fire Control: Everything but Smoke and the AoE Immob
Fire Assault: Everything except for whatever it is that you could otherwise buy at 20. I can't recall the name of the power offhand.
Fitness: The +Jump power, Health and Stamina.

I picked Stamina over whatever the attack power was, since I was basically sucking endurance like a chump whenever I so much as decided to walk around the block, nevermind engaging in tasks like fighting.

In AE teams, my AoE controls don't last long enough to matter too much--to some degree, I assume this is because I'm not into SOs yet.

Hot Feet + Fiery Embrace or whatever the buff is called results in fairly decent AoE Damage--I kinda want to grab the AoE Immob in order to maximize Hot Feet's damage, but then I end up losing whatever mitigation I receive from them running around, no?

Between my *ridiculous* Endurance usage and my short lived ability to do things before faceplanting, I don't feel like much of a credit to the team. Without the feeling that I'm doing something useful, the fun of playing the toon is also lost.

With that said, I turn to you, the Dominator community. Is there any advice that can help me suck less? Did I take a wrong turn in alberquerque, should I use my second slot to take different powers (man, that's so useful) or should I just accept that I'll suck until I put more levels under my belt? Should I go roll a /Kinetic Corruptor instead? :P

    Thanks in advance,
    -Stalled Out Fire/Fire Dom
  12. So I was led to believe, but then that very thought was mentioned in another post. I don't know what to believe anymore! :P
  13. There is no guide for it, so I have to ask over here.

Is it true that the Teleporting attack doesn't drop your hide? The idea sounds ridiculous to me, but then again I suppose anything is possible.

    Thanks in advance,
    -Stalker in theory
  14. In short, how do you do it? Operating under the assumption that your team will face spawns of bosses, how does the Stalker fit into the team?

What primaries would be most beneficial in this circumstance? What secondary? What tactics would be used?

    Thanks in advance,
    -Contemplating a Stalker...again.
  15. Out of curiousity, why is Shields considered better for AE than Fire, but Fire better outside of AE?
  16. I suddenly want to start a SS/Fire or SS/Shields.
  17. Let me explain a bit.

My SS/WP is level...I want to say 25. I don't have CoX in front of me right now, so I might be off by a level.

I play AEs, almost exclusively. I prefer teaming over soloing, generally.

I don't have a "Patron" toon to farm billions for me. As such, slotting is on a "As I can afford it" policy.

When I'm in a team, I'm expected to tank. I've only been in a couple of groups that -didn't- expect me to tank, and that's only because a higher level Brute was with us.

Now that I'm reflecting on it, most brutes in our teams below the level of 30 melted under "tanking" conditions.

I'm willing to accept the idea that I'm Bad At This(tm), especially considering that I didn't really mess with Brutes in depth until post-AE.
  18. Meanwhile, my SS/WP Brute has yet to find an 8-man spawn of lts that he can survive for more than five seconds. 37189246789123 percent regen is only nice if you can survive long enough to make it matter.
  19. I'm betting that the information on how to do this is probably directly in front of me, but I can't seem to figure out how to accomplish the effect I want.

I'm looking to make a destructible object (We'll call it a light source) that either applies a +per in an area of effect, a -stealth or simply negates stealth altogether.

    How do I do this?

    Much thanks in advance.
  20. After playing on and off for a while, I've noticed that the villain-side areas seem to be absolutely devoid of life in comparison to the hero-side ones.

Much like Virtue is the unofficial RP server and Freedom is the PvP one(?), is there an unofficial "Villain" Server, where everyone congregates?

    Thanks in advance,
    -Frustrated Villain
  21. I'm sure it should be readily apparent, but bear with me here.

Having +def sets seems to make a lot of sense, especially with how Hide works. You can, given enough defense, hide mid-fight and deliver a second(third, fifteenth, whatever) AS.

This, on top of normal defense set bennies, is fairly pimp.

What's the point of taking +res or regen sets as a stalker? The best I can figure is attempting to shoehorn a scrapper's lifestyle into the stalker.

    Again, thank you in advance.
