So imo, just about every set is better that WP except maybe FA.
What makes you dislike WP so much?
  2. Both those look pretty solid. Care to share the builds?

EDIT: Oh, nm these aren't on Mids yet
  3. You're right and I was a jackass instead. Between the two classes, I tend to lean more towards Brutes. I dislike Fury making Brutes initially well below the base damage of a Scrapper, but love the higher resistances, hp, and Epics over the Scrapper.
  4. Why do people not like it when someone brings a thread back from the dead? "Scrapper or Brute?" is a never ending question when it comes to CoH and this thread is full of good info. As for my previous post, yeah it was to poke fun

We're also aware that Brutes have higher hit points and that in at least some cases, their higher resistance cap can play a factor (but certainly not in all cases, or perhaps even in most). DOTs, pseudopets, punchvoke, blah blah blah.

This, in my mind at least, means the comparison is not simple and obvious like you make it out to be. You have to weigh damage vs. hit points, fury vs. immediate gratification, better aggro control vs. lesser aggro control (some people like less, even if I'm not one of them) and so on.

It is not a case where:
    • "If all you care about are the numbers, then brutes are better." False. They're better in some ways, worse in others.
    • "They have a much larger performance envelope than scrappers, tanks or stalkers. This is a simple fact." Uh, no, it's not so simple, unless your definition of "performance envelope" is extremely simple. Oh, but that's what you were accusing Deus of thinking, so surely it's not that. If your definition of performance envelope is more general, more complicated, then there's no simple fact here. There are a whole lot of trade offs between the various archetypes. None are unambiguously better in all ways than others.
    • "Brutes are better, it is simply a fact." No, it's not. You seem to have a misunderstanding of what a "fact" is compared to, say, an "opinion". "Brutes have higher resistance caps" is a fact. "Brutes are better" is not. They may be better in certain ways, in certain combinations, and so on, but they are not clearly, unambiguously better.
And accusing people of reading comprehension problems for pointing out ways in which Scrappers are better, such as damage? I don't think Deus has a reading comprehension problem. I think you have a writing problem. How about rereading some of your statements like "Brutes are better, it is simply a fact." See how that reads? Oh, is that not what you meant? Sure looks like it to me. Seems simple and unambiguous. So chalk me up in the "reading comprehension problems" column because surely it can't be YOU with the problem. Say things like that and expect to get some counterarguments. People arguing with your overly simplistic pronouncements of "fact" is not at all the same thing "man, these stupid people just have no clue what I'm saying. What retards."

You remind me of the people that think scientists are stupid because they haven't thought of obvious things like "If the oceans rise due to global warming, then everyone can just take a bucket of water out of the ocean and dump it into their sink. Fixed! I can't believe the stupid scientists haven't thought of that."

You're not always wrong. You're not always right. Often, it's not even a question of right and wrong. But whatever it is, you seem always convinced that the truth is simple, you're in posession of it, and that anyone that disagrees with you is stupid for not seeing the simple truth. It's been wearing on me. It's tiring. The world, even this virtual world, is more complicated than that.

Why I waste my breath, I don't know. Obviously you're not going to change, and arguing on the internet just makes me stupid.
That's one looong reply just to ask why you are wasting your breath. Bullet points, even!
  6. Some good insight, thank you.
  7. I spent a little more time messing with it and got more regen, defense, endurance recovery and no need for Kinetic Combat. I lost 30hp and PS:+End proc.

  8. Bio-Armor is sounding like it's going to be far better than most secondaries.
  9. This is about how I had mine planned out before I "scrapped" WM for FM. It's slightly different based on your priority to have low end consumption. You're also 2HP shy of the Scrapper cap.

  11. I usually 5 slot Rag w/Proc or Posi w/Proc + Achilles
  12. That looks a bit better. I'll throw one together tomorrow for a comparison. For now, though, lose the Regen Tissue from Health and place it in Dark Consumption. Skip the Performance Shifter: End Mod and Performance Shifter: Chance for +End. Use the other 4.
  13. I have to admit that my favorite part of the incarnate trials is the escape section during the BAF. I want to create a "Door Monster" of incredible damage to melt and destroy every last minion and lt that tries to escape my grasp.

I have two ideas so far. A Rad/Fire/Mace and a Fire/Fire/Mace. Please let me know if I'm on the right track here! Also, I'm leaning more towards Fire over Rad because of the increased damage. Thanks!

    Rad/Fire/Mace

  14. SkylineGTR

    i24 Fire/Time

I'd like to throw mine in too.

    Good:

22% to-hit with Farsight only, assuming the Kismet proc works correctly. Both snipe and nuke. 1.5/s end drain with all toggles on. Perma Hasten and Chrono Shift. 44.6M/45.5R/43A without Power Boost. 1,514 HP w/Accolades. I went with Agility Core Paragon, Reactive Radial Flawless, Clarion Core Epiphany and Assault Radial. As for Hybrid, they all seem like decent choices for a Corr and it couldn't hurt to pick more than one to inter-change.

    Bad:

I had to 4 slot Boxing. The Superior ATO is required for ranged soft cap. I did not use the PS:Chance for Endurance proc. I will have to see how my end is with either End/Acc or the proc first. It's a very expensive build.

  15. SkylineGTR

    i24 Fire/Time

Will Kismet 6% IO help with keeping above 22% To-Hit?
  16. Just a quick tip, trade the Dam IOs from the purples with the Procs instead. That extra Dam isn't doing much.
  17. I'm still bitter about the nerfs to EM. ET made that set worth it.
  18. I wanted to show you my final build for my Water/Cold Corr Tap Water. I may change out Steam Spray for Aqua Bolt because I never really find myself using it. I would like to have more ST damage as well. There are also so many good attacks in Water and debuffs from Cold to use.

  19. I chose to roll with a Water/Cold Corr and it's decent. The ST damage needs some love. I'll be rolling a Fire/Time to compare or maybe wait for Nature.
  20. Here's a build I am currently using. Ageless negates all endurance concerns and will be a must for just about any Plant/Storm. This one is built for Incarnate Trials and Ambush Farms. (54x8) I chose to skip Hurricane because it serves no purpose to my Troller's goals. You, however, may want to try and fit it in still.

I have to disagree. Most of the time these PvEers do get upset when they get completely demolished, but the PvPers don't handle the situation any better. They do the same thing, talking **** right back. This is not every time, of course, but the vast majority of PvPers left are like this.

Alright here's my contribution: PvP was a lot better when everything was unbalanced, there was no DR, no slow down, and Energy Transfer was still funny.
  22. either one is fine but fire gives you another mini build up and imo better survivability.
  23. Is Fossilize still pretty good in PvP?
  24. I have an IO'ed Shield/Ice Tank and after the nerf, his damage output is pretty low. I'd suggest ditching Ice Patch for another attack like Greater Ice Sword. You need some strong ST damage for bosses.

    3. With the 555M you're dealing with the "Optimus" tech. Essentially when you're in desktop mode you're on-board video that's eating system memory. When you game it "flips over" onto the gaming GPU. Simple in theory, but I'm not a big fan of maintaining redundant video devices.
Over at another forum, people say it ranges from 1.5 hours to 2.5 hours when gaming and 4-4.5 hours just surfing the web. I think that's good enough for some light gaming when getting my morning coffee, at least.

My question still remains, though. How does the 555m fare on CoH? 30 or more FPS is of course what I'm hoping for.
