BAF Door Monster?

I have to admit that my favorite part of the incarnate trials is the escape section during the BAF. I want to create a "Door Monster" of incredible damage to melt and destroy every last minion and lt that tries to escape my grasp.

I have two ideas so far. A Rad/Fire/Mace and a Fire/Fire/Mace. Please let me know if I'm on the right track here! Also, I'm leaning more towards Fire over Rad because of the increased damage. Thanks!

This is an interesting motivation for creating a character. For the purpose of BAF door slaughtering I'd go with Fire Blast, if only for Rain of Fire, even if Fire Blast wasn't so much more damaging.


Global = Hedgefund (or some derivation thereof)

I think the keys in creating a door monster as you put it are:

Lots of AoE damage
Ability to snare
Lots of recharge for the above

I could only open the second build and it looks like you hit the nail on the head. The first one kept giving me errors.

Personally I've found my Fire/Dark corruptor's combination of Tar Patch, RoF, and Fire Ball to be quite nice.

I've also had lots of door sitting success with my two traps toons. I use Posion Trap and Caltrops to snare/hold, I also drop Acid Mortar (it has a Devestation hold proc) for added -Res. Then it's just a matter of dropping as many Trip Mines as possible so I try to get it's recharge under 9 seconds.

Enigma has it down. Fire/Ice may also be good for Shiver, Chilling Embrace, and Ice Patch (maybe even Frozen Aura). That's the foundations for my Ice/Kin Controller with Fireball.

Although, I can't remember - Is Bonefire in the /Fire secondary? With the KD proc, I think you'd have to go with that. And rely on Hot Feet for slows/more damage.

I'd say the real winner is a Fire/Fire/Fire blaster, probably rocking clarion so you don't get confused.

You should be able to keep Rain of Fire/ Bonfire/ Burn patches near perma. Add in hot feet + blazing aura hitting things before they spawn and pretty much cycle Fireball / Fire Sword Circle with Blaze as needed to deal with LT's that get away.

The biggest thing to make sure none escape is getting your cast times down in between door spawns for your patch powers.

Don't know if he'd be the ultimate door monster but I'm thinking my Elec/Fire/Cold Blaster would be very ugly against the doors. Tons of PBAoE/AoE damage including Hot Feet and Burn (perma) to greet them.

2nd looks solid, have fun with it.

When i'm on my Crab, i always get put on the North East door, so that less can be on North path, and most on the South choke points. This is also a good vatage point for me to spot starys from North and from South heading east, see it as a last line. If there is an escaped prisoner, i can say "East Clear", or "Heading East". However, one time with a 12 man BAF, i wanted to duo the North path, so i took my door, my buddy misunderstood and helped on South, i ended up taking out the North path solo, with no escaped prisoners.

(Ps: i know smaller leagues will spawn less escapes, but i think it was still a nice feat. I know to stick to one door when we have a full league.)

I have often camped a door solo on my fire/fire tankers, and with a bit of confuse support and my pets out, can handily hold a door.

If a tanker can do it, as long as you avoid the confuse, a blaster should do it easily.

I have no made a toon JUST for this but..
Both my water/em and dark/em blasters do VERY well at a door. And can kill at least 95% of the guys (that is, 90% over the WHOLE five mins, not just per wave).

I do find that any getting past are usually because I stopped to attack a guy going behind me on a path, running by from another door, itching my nose etc etc.

MY Dp/MM doe great too, but I find only having BU, means I can just chain AIm and BU one after another (it seems that a lvl 53 average blaster aoe with interface and either aim/bu, kills most of a wave).

Knockdowns and backs are really good to, allowing you those extra seconds as minions flop about, to ST the LTs to hell.

My fire/earth dom does bad bad things to doors also. And NO, not in that way! Even if he is on (lack of)Virtue.

Only problem i ever had hanging around at the doors in a BAF trial....
was the confusion effect....and the leech players who didnt really help....

Slowing, mezes and such works on minions but the lieutenants ignore it....so make sure to toggle through the targets finding them first and getting them fast.

For those curious I was doing this with a Fire/Fire/Fire blaster on guardian server, and it worked very well.

I used hot feet, blazing aura, rain of fire and burn with liberal usage of fire ball and my other attacks....i think i missed an occasional Lieutenant...not many though.

So i didnt look at your builds as i dont use mids....but i will assume you where thinking immobolize....well that will work on minions....so just have to target the lieutenants and kill them still.

oh and you shouldbe able to target them before they get through the doors slightly....at least i found i could.
