When you do level 50 content in Ouroboros you remain level 50. So if you want to do some of the level 50 content again there's no penalty at all, except you can't take someone along who's less than level 45.

1. Posi said you will get a warning if the level you will be sk'd or ex'd to is a big gap (and that the gap is user defined).

2. You can turn XP earning off. It's in your options.

I'm also hoping that letting level 1s into the RWZ isn't the devs' answer to many people's request for an AE in Pocket D. We should still have one.

I'm honestly not all that enthused about the removal of all hazard zone level restrictions. It makes sense for the old hero-side hazard zones that nobody ever uses unless a mission sends them there. Not so much for the RWZ. It's a war zone, why are we letting some newbie fresh out of the tutorial into a war zone again?

Posi, please consider what this proposed change will do to Mothership raids. The combination of increased lag, as everyone who wants to form a co-op team flocks to the warzone, and lowbies looking for "awesome xp" wanting to join raids, auto-sking encouraging more people to bring characters that aren't 50 (and are therefore facing +5s, with fewer purpled-out, uber-IOd 50s balancing them out), and auto-exemp possibly disrupting teams when a leader DCs....

DOOOOOOMMMM for the Mothership raids!
(Well ok not really, I just felt like saying DOOOOMMMM)

Very interesting. One of my primary reasons for leaving Freedom, and ultimately considering leaving the game permanently instead of the occasional breaks I take now was the broadcast spam.

Also over the years Ive become less and less of an alt addict because, well after 54+ months of play time I honestly have tinkered with just about every combination (yes I really do create and delete WAY too many characters).

More often than not now days when I make a new character it is for no other reason than to either team with a friend who is doing something new or going out of my way to teach a new player the ropes (ie met a rookie blaster awhile back that was having no end of trouble soloing, I made a blaster, caught up to her and showed her how to play. I also sent her a suggested build but told her to tweak it as she felt nessesary, I think she copied it but I kinda expected that. Point is I have done a few TF's with her now and you would never think she was a rookie)

Out of all of the good things with this system I most look forward to being able to play my favorite characters with the new players. As far as build layouts due to the common exemplaring Ive always been a bid OCD with my builds. Mainly for TF reasons but my builds are optimized as much as possible for all levels, even the slotting. So for me its no change though I know a few people that are going to groan and moan a bit but they will see it as an improvement, they ll just have to respec their builds and move some things around.

Another thing I love, the no sk range thing. Im a natural tank so I tend to be a bit overprotective of my team. Drives me nuts when I have to keep stopping and waiting for my sk to catch up so they dont get picked off by a random mob. I know alot of people that just move on regardless and say things like "Well they should stay near their mentor". Problem is sometimes its not so much that they are going the wrong way but they are new and cannot navigate caves with SS and SB like many of us can. So this is also another HUGE benefiet.

One thing I would like to see is the ability to sk someone into a taskforce range. For me TF's are bar none the most enjoyable part of the game, and I would love to be able to introduce new players to that a little earlier. Especially to bypass the Posi TF. Im sorry Posi but I really would love to see a MASSIVE overhaul to that TF. I cannot count the amout of new players I have come across over the years that do that TF and never want to do another one again, myself included. I vididly rember the first 3 attempts at that TF back in the day. All of them failed for no other reason than the team quiting because of the endless plodding and tonnes of missions. It was almost a year before I attempted another higher level TF and that was because the SG I recently joined at the time talked me into it. Im so glad they did.

Anyway rambled a bit and got slightly off topic but all in all. Really happy with these new options. More difficult missions is also a nice feature. So now then, when is I16 going live lol.

Now, if we could get an in-game voice chat client (instead of having to rely on things like Ventrilo, TeamSpeak... or in some cases I've heard of people using Skype... OUCH!!!), that would be a real boon for fans of CoH/CoV, and group play.

It was one of the really great benefits of WoW, and it enhances the group experience immensely.
Personally, the in-game voice chat is a big part of the reason that I've pretty much stopped playing WoW. Frankly, some people are offensive enough when they have to take time to type whatever gibberish is in their heads. Also, it does nothing for my immersion when the massive Tauren Warlord sounds like an eight year old girl, or the scantily clad Blood Elf rogue has the voice of Wolfman Jack. I realize that I'm in the minority on this. But I *hate* voice chat. (I'm not overly fond of cellphones, either. Maybe I'm just anti-social.)

I guess it's not a huge loss, but I'm not sure exactly how this will play out.
This will still happen, albeit at a slightly slower pace. Lower level characters make their levels more quickly, so if you're the lowest level character you'll still be leveling faster than everyone else and will eventually catch up.

The only XP table I can find on the net is from 2004, but it shows the number of even-con minions required to level. This number generally increases with level. My supposition is that this relationship still holds despite the recent XP buffs. Which means that you'll need even fewer yellow minions to level than anyone higher level than you. Which means you'll catch up.

Does anyone know where a current XP/level table is so I can validate that assumption?

(Well ok not really, I just felt like saying DOOOOMMMM)
Now this kind of attitude is what is killing the game. You do not NEED uber purpled out builds to do a mother ship raid.

At the height of our VG's activity we fielded 4 total sg teams. Many of the players on the teams were 35+ lackey's and I think only one person at that time had bothered to purple out their toon.

We had the towers down and the bombs planted by the time a 5th pug team formed. With the help of that pug team (which I honestly dont think we would have needed) and Im guessing a few straggling soloers we had no problem with the GM.

You do not need uber purpled out builds for any aspect of this game whatsoever with the exception of possibly pvp though I honestly cannot say because since the pvp changes I stopped pvping. They are only there to give the min maxers something to do.

Now I will grant you that having much lower levels allowed into the zone with fewer power options will definately hinder a mothership raid. That is however due to the lack of power options, many characters do not have their best abiliteies before 32 some 38. It is not because they do not have uber purpled out builds. I would like to see some actual numbers of how many people bother loading out their toons like that. Not to mention that some builds are better not having purples. Just depends what your building for.

Teaming was vastly simplified. You don't need to make sure that you have retain a specific mentor / sidekick balance. Exemped characters will now earn XP while exemped. It is even possible that exemped characters will retain all of their powers while exemped instead of losing them, pending playtetster results.

Bridging has been eliminated. When you are level 45-47, you will not be inundated with tells asking you to bridge from the moment you log in to the moment you log out (or go on hide).

And they are adding e-mail filters, which means you will only get e-mail RMT spam if you want to.

While I can see that some folks may not think it is "rock your socks off" awesome (in truth, I'm not nerdgasming either. I'm much more excited about the Power Customization), are you telling me that you can't even see why this is good?

New story arcs coming soon (ARC IDs will be aded when I finish the arc):

I agree. If there was an in-game voice chat I'd likely leave it off as much as I could. Only when on specific teams would I kick it into play.

And while I don't play any Blood Elf rogues and my voice isn't like Wolfman Jack, I'm sure my normal male voice would really make it difficult for me to pull of the majority of my toons, which are fem.

Off topic but had to respond to you Haruu on the whole good getting punished with the bad. When I was a kid and the teachers didnt know who did something they usually punished the whole group hoping someone would rat out the one that did do it, which almost never happened because usually the ones who did it were the only ones who knew.

My answer from the time I was 10 and till this day was to simply get up and walk out the door if I didnt do it (man do control freaks hate that) or if I did it to simply own up to it.

Now allthough I do belive that in this instance this fellow is definately overreacting. However there has been enough changes made recently that definately made me feel similar to the way he does, minus the frothing at the mouth part. In fact the last time I "walked out the door" I had no intention of coming back. However I had enough friends still playing that when they started telling me what was being done it made me curious enough to come back. Not to mention I was not really enjoying any of the other games I tried. Had CO been out at the time I felt that way odds are I would know nothing about I15 or I16 and I would not be making this post.

That being said I have allready pre ordered and bought the life time subscription for CO. I will be playing that game. As to if I will remain playing CoX well the ball is in their court and this is a single step in the right direction. CO will also have to do some good things to keep me. Competition is healthy and I look forward to what both have planned to keep their customers.

I also know one of those friends who is leaving the game after playing with it since release. If I am not mistaken he has never not paid for a month. Yet he is quitting the game. The reason is for something so simple. With his extensive play time he has done virtually all the content in the game. So when he wanted a new toon he simply used the AE to farm it up. He didnt really feel like grinidng through the terrible teens, hes done it, why do it again. He had two characters he leveled this way deleted. . . .

To me that was simply stupid on the developers part. Now he and his wife will be taking their business somewhere else, both accounts. Not because that was such a big deal I think more like it was the straw that broke the camels back. Fix the exploit, in this case the bridging, and move on. Deleting characters is very much a power trip thing to do and it is going to cost you customers. Why should someone who has done it all allready 20 or 30 times have to do it yet again. Maybe that should have been a vetran badge somewhere along the way. Give the vets the option to create a character that starts at either level 1 or level 20. Because after 36 or heck even after 24 months grinding through the levels 10 to 20 became something alot of us REALLY didnt want to do again.

I know with over 54 months I dont have any urge to grind up any new toons. I have a couple I pld to 15 or 20. Mainly for stamina or to be able to do a Cap SF which usually gets you close to 20 and is for me more fun than generic missions. Sometimes I ll make my own map and solo it at low levels with a mobs and mobs of skulls. For me thats about as exciting as the other missions. Not that they are bad missions or bad stories, some of them are very good. (Boccor springs to mind) It's just that I have done them so many times.

Level one in the Rikti Warzone???? LOL....I am sorry I am laughing. I know level 1 is just an example, but thinking about it is bringing tears of mirth to my eyes. That poor buffer/healer having to keep a group of level one toons who are lacking their own shields, mez protection, and knockback protection, alive....

But I know it will not be that bad. They well go into the AE building, team with Villains who are level one as well, and do lowbie missions there, but, still, the mental picture of a whole team of level 1 toons doing a level 35 mission with just their first two powers....precious.

This whole supersidekicking system soulds full of win to me.

I don't know what to say to that poster who hates the 20s, or is it she/he hates getting to the 20s?...Pre 20s you have street hunting in Perez Park, the Hollows missions, and at level 11 or so I take my toons to the park across the street from the hospital in Steel Canyon and farm COTs...yes you can farm at any level

Faultine is fun, the Striga missions are fun and you get the very useful Ring of Peebles, Croatoa is my favorite zone and it opens in the late 20s. Warwolf hunting for the Atlas Medallion is a fun thing to do in the 20s.

Big wide grin, I am a 30, almost 33 month vet, and I get lots of enjoyment out of the content. Like most things, it all depends on your attitude

For me in game voice chat would do nothing. I would still use Ventrilo, sound is superior and the ability to modify indivdual peoples sound is key. Nothing worse than having that one guy on your team that you can barely hear and then the next guy you invite yells into his mic all the time.

I regularly invite non sg people onto my vent (because it is mine) and quite frankly I hate typing when Im trying to play the game.

mmm not sure about how this will work, sounds like will encourage folks to power level and even leech. As if on a sk leash at least you know they aint gonna get no xp on an active team if they dont stay on thier leash then can be kicked. If found to ber a leecher

Also allowing lowbies into the L35+ areas aint a great idea either, will they get the arcs and the like from Levietia on entry or wait till L35 ?

Ive not read all the thread as of yet as was only pointed out to me, so maybe these issues already been rasied (wish get the dev digest and community thingy working so can see rednames posting )

And what of the ski'ng badges will all team get credit for them, or will they be removed from game as there is no sk'ing ?

Dont know what to think of this change to game seems quite a mjor thing to change after all these years, and with a few other mmos hero based on the horizon is it a good time to be tinkering with one of this games orginal ideas that now seems to have appeared in many other MMOs . I always felt that COH was the inovator of sking and worked well in the game, super sk'n at mo seems a complete change to waht am so used to in this game.

I not sure how the level selecting of missions will work now , but till it comes on live or open test then can only hope the devs know what they are doing and that it dont all go pear shaped.

so at mo im a bit skeptical.

Will when get time try read more of this thread as maybe my concerns are already voiced and suitable replies posted

Super Sidekicking sounds like a huge step in the right direction. The only way it could be better is that once invited/joining a team you could "Select" your "fighting level" in relation to the team leader/person with a star ( as in if you were SK/LK up picking from -4 to -1, and if you are EX/MAL down between -1, 0,+1 , up to max level allowed)

This would allow the person SKd up to pick the rate at which they are effective and earn xp/Inf.
Put a tab in the HUD that allows Level change on the fly ( put it where the "UNSK" tab is lol)

in a mish getting pwnd? the 50 thats auto'd down to 20 hits the tab, selects MAX LV and wastes them. When its over, Hits the tab, select -1 or 0 or +1 and goes back to lv 19-21.

Doing a farm? mish holder is 50 and sets difficulty for 8 man team and nabs his friend to join. The lv 30 selects -4 and gets good xp, can select -1 if he wants to help.

Someone joins your task force and selects -4 to try and get uber xp? ask them to move up a few levels or leave if you don't like it.

I know i have been on a TF or mishes in the past where its a full team of 8 all lv 50ish. and for me personally im fighting oranges and reds , but the team is moving thru the mish with ease. I would have loved to just "drop down that one extra lv" for more inf /xp / and challenge.

How the heck did I miss this yesterday !?!?! This is an awesome change, teaming will be soooo much easier. Unfortunately coming into the thread so late (14 pages @ 50 per ), I haven't read all the responses, except the lastfew pages.

It's obvious the main purpose of this was to make teaming and sidekicking easier and more user friendly. The side effect being the end of bridging. Now I don't care how people do their leveling, but whenever I reach level 45 I have to add "No Bridging" to my LFT window, so to me this will make the high forties more pleasant to play .

I'm sure there will need to be issues worked out, but overall this is a great change.

As for how education now works, it's a differant world than you grew up in, or maybe you just went to a bad school with mediocre teachers. But again, the students are bad for not turning in the culprit making all their lives worse. Which goes back to only the good gets punished when many are being bad. Good students wouldn't let the entire class take flack for the actions of an individual. Good also is based off action rather than grades. Anyone can suckup and get good grades.

As for your rant about leaving, coming back, paying for lifetime at CO and staying only if CoX is good enough... your not needed here. CO will fail (lifetime memberships to a pay per month game is usually the last straw a game will use to get an influx before they go broke).

And Ive gotten bored with CoX, but you didn't see me make a big deal about moving onto a new game, nor have I promoted any of those games. Some I genuinly have enjoyed. Most have been free, some have not. It serves no purpose other than to cause dissent. On a ship, you would be keelhauled for mutiny. I live my life by a code of conduct. Be as honest as I can be. Try to not infringe on others enjoyment. I am not telling you how to play this game, but we don't care about CO. Most of us are anti CO since they were the ones that for a while were ruining this game (Cryptic is the first dev team for CoX and are using the exact same engine with a little Fx mods for CO, and a minor ammount of changes). So the only reason I can see that someone would bring up the competition in a positive light, is to bring down moral here. That infringes upon our enjoyment of the time we spend here. SO either A) you are a spy from the competition trying to invoke mutiny, or B) you arn't happy here, and need to move on. No need to make it grandeouse and try pulling others with you. If the are unhappy, they too will move on. Either way, let us be happy, and take your misery, doom and gloom, elsewhere.

Id rather be a happy sheep over a miserable donkey. Sadly, I am to opinionated to really be a sheep, so instead Ill be a happy Lombax.

P.S. I hate the lvl 1-49 grind, and yet most of my characters are in that range because I rarely PL for more than a few level to get out of a painful range. like lvl 17-19, 29-32. Two of the worst spots in the game.

Why? because good ideas always have unintended consequences, so before an idea solidifies, its better to hash out what is going to be wrong with it so that they can catch it and stomp it, rather than have it go live and scale it back, because then people of specific personality types will announce in numerous threads that the devs have just murdered their grandmother with a hacksaw.

I'm sure most people are evaluating the idea and coming to their own conclusions, but it is prudent to look for conceptual problems sooner than later.

i still use the server list. i have some characters on servers where that's the ONLY character i play there consistently. i don't need to gfriend someone i'm only going to be able to actually play with in limited circumstances. my gfriends are, for the most part, people that also span servers with me or are on my original server (Virtue.)

That said, i would prefer a gfriends toggle over a server friends toggle, for in game email. The options i would like to see are No email, SG email, gfriend email. i really don't care about anything else.

I know that I use Local Friends all the time, for the "______ is now online" message. For toons that team with other specific ones frequently, it's very nice.

I'm happy with the Local Friends for e-mail, since I don't really care about the system at all...but hopefully they'll be able to change it to Global, for those that want to use it still.
