If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Really? Here's me thinking that the old ones were like cheap player ran ones.

I suspect that if you remove the leading http://www. that it may work. If not, we can troubleshoot from there.

EDIT: Don't remove the leading http://www. portion, instead remove the www.http// portion since that portion is incorrect. It should work after that.

Second Edit: Okay, here's the corrected address to use: http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh353/Lucky6ith/ichigosdad.gif Don't know why I didn't do that first.
I tried this still nothing. I also tried several other pctures none of which work. I'm a sad panda.

I had issues also. I just kept trying and eventually it just worked on like the 8th or 9th try. You do need to make sure you delete the http//www. that is already there, as the address your pasting should already have that included. Other than that all I can tell you is try it 20 times in a row and eventually it will probably go thru....eerily similar to changing your avatar in the old forums. PITA

Also, make sure your pic isn't over the 100x100 pixel limit.

Oddly enough, when I look at your avatar properties, it still shows the old broken link, not the working one

http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh353/Lucky6ith/ichigosdad.gif

I may try it as my avatar to see if it works for me, then maybe we can figure out how to get it working for you.

EDIT: It's working for me. Make sure that you copy the address I have above exactly, go to UserCP, go to Edit Avatar, delete ALL of the text in the box first, then paste this link in and click Save.

2nd EDIT: Please tell me when it is working for you. I really don't like seeing it as my avatar, I'm just leaving it so you can see it works.

They weren't better, they were just familiar. They did look nicer, I think, but they didn't function as well as they look. Once we play around in the new system and get used to it, I think people will like the new system just fine.

I do miss the option to automatically preview all posts before submitting them for real. I haven't figured out how to make that work here.

Click the Preview Post button. It's right beside the Submit Reply button.

I haven't found a way to set that so that it happens automatically, even on the Enhanced Editor. But, I do get a Preview Post button next to the Submit button.

I'm learning to hate the new QR box, mostly for the things it DOESN'T provide that I prefer it doing.

I think the themes could use a few modifications, such as better contrast for threads with new posts (for some reason I have trouble telling if it's bolded or not, especially on the hero side). They could also tweak the theme a little so it's a bit more compact, right now it's a bit spacy. Also, I'm not a huge fan of pictures in signatures... especially the huge *** ones I've already seen a few people with.

All in all, I think it's an improvement... assuming the whole 'it freezes up for minutes at a time' issue is fixed without simply having to wipe half the posts every few days... And the post features randomly failing... And all sections under the 'Brute' section get wiped... and deleting a single post deletes 90% of the following posts... Long as all those problems are gone I'll say it's an improvement

Edit: WOOO! 11,000 posts! And what's with changing profanity to *** instead of [censored]? I miss my [censored] [censorings]!

Most of those issues you listed at the bottom are some of the VERY reasons they went to vBulletin. Especially the post deletion control.

They still have some work to do, and there are quite a few mods for them to look at to decide what will best serve their needs and the posters needs.

For now, I'll live with having Images turned off in my UserCP Options settings. I can still see emoticons (ugly as they are right now) and avatars, but I don't see the forum signature images. I can still see text sigs and links in sigs, so that's my preference.

And if someone posts something with an image in it that I want to see, I can simply click on the link in the post and open the image in a new window.

It'll get there, but it'll take some time.

I like all the graphic doodads people can post now. The rest will just take time to get used to.

I consider that spam.

New forums are clunky and ugly. I'm glad those that are happy are happy.

At the top, below User CP, is the links to the section you're in. It should read something like City of heroes Forums>English>etc.

Click on the word English, and you'll have a page that has all forum sections shown, similar to the old forums. Make a shortcut/favorite to that page and use that to get to the forums, and you'll have the expanded page.

Adapt. Period.
You're acting like the proliferation of Snowflake threads is a new phenomenon. Trust me, there's always been a flood of people who cannot cope with thinking their own personal problem isn't so special that it deserves several new threads in various areas of the forums so that everyone gets to share in the emo.

TheOcho or Moderator 08 has already commented on the smilies. I think something is in the works.

Basically, when they imported all of the old posts, they all got new numbers. The links in guides, signatures, and anywhere else all pointed to the numbers from the old forums, and in some cases UBB used a rather odd format to how it configured the address, depending on how you got to it in the first place. A script couldn't make the changes becuase it had to have the new numbers to be able to change it, but they couldn't have new numbers until they were imported so they lost the old number so the script didn't have an old number to replace with the new number so ....

Yeah, it gives a headache just thinking about it. This is likely one of the things that they were trying to get worked out before the changeover that delayed moving to the new forums so long. I imagine they tried several solutions before giving up.

The good news is that it appears that they left the Edit time on posts open ended so that the guide writers or managers can go in and manually search for the new addresses of the posts then edit the guide to reflect the changes without having to PM the Community team to have them edit the posts.

I set mine to 100 per page, which is the max. From what I gather, being able to set a higher number really stresses the SQL server calls, which would result in slower forums.

There are very few threads I can think of that 100 posts per page isn't sufficient for, and even for those long threads, I'd rather have some kind of breaking point for going back and looking for some old post. I understand that there is some addon for Firefox or Opera that will preload the next few page for you as you near the bottom of a forum page, so this may be an option for you. But not everyone runs Firefox or Opera or wants to take the time to hunt for addons.
