It's showing fine.
After updating, the "use custom avatar" field will reset to "http://www.", regardless of whether or not your avatar updates.
EDIT: I am seeing an avatar by your posts, btw. Also btw, after Quick Replying, you won't see your avatar because of the forum scripting. You have to refresh the page to see it.

I just tried right-clicking the image, selecting properties, and copying the URL in that box. That worked.

the new forums look great, but i cant read any guides because all the links seem dead(in corruptor anyway).
The log in fails to remember me.
i spent 4 hours trying to post my crappy avatar. look to the left to see how that went.
i admit im far from a tech wiz , but nothing.just. works.
nice touch trashing the forums a week before double xp weekend.
what was it last time? pushed out some crappy issue one day before double xp? or was it the 3 month base bug that stole our loot? hard to remember.

EDIT: texas_justice told me how to fix my avatar so now im happy and were gettin another x2 xp w.e. so ill stop squakin' about that.
the old forum is better the new forum is not so great to post mids builds and click on the link they goin the "this link is broken and such" but like lil upgrade on forums they need to tweek upthe new forums so the link and the mids post can post better,

TinyUrl didn't work, I tried that the first day. The %7e did, though! I bet I can use that for a signature file, too.
Mids (or whoever is supporting that program now) will need to change his program, just like I had to fiddle with CoH Helper. That's not the board's fault.
Mid = Mids?? That would explain... well, that wouldn't explain anything at all. But it would sure be a surprise!

The new forums are ok I just wish that:
1: They had had a proper beta to ensure things like the Dev Digest and the Sig/Avatar uploaders were working right.
2: They had stylized the themes to more greatly resemble the old ones.
3: They put a damn Known issues and workarounds section right on the top of the main page.

Anyways, you are right, it's not *that ther* Mid anymore keeping watch over the proggie...but darned if I can remember who it is. I remember though, that it is someone state side, not in EU anymore (like *that other* Mid).
(Yep, Zloth is right about the "surprise" thing too. I couldn't build a proggie that good to save my life. I give it up to *that other* Mid and whoever else is responsible for the upkeep these days
)

There is a different site, TinyPic that should work just fine for images.
Then again, using the site above is no different than re-hosting on a site that doesn't use the ~, and as pointed out, there are ways around the ~ malfunction anyway. lol

Ok the new forums are nice looking and seem quicker, but there is a major issue, well its major to me. NONE of the flippin guide links work and so far I have found no information indicating how to get them to work.
They're linking to the old forum thread numbers, which are different from the new forum thread numbers.
The guides need to be manually updated.
Obviously, this is a daunting task, and will take time.
Patience. In the meantime, use the search function to look for a specific thread title, which is usually listed in the guides.

This wouldn't be an issue if we could edit them in there, but we can't. Attempts on my part to get redname attention have been unsuccessful thus far (one would be needed either to edit the new links into the old first posts or to sticky a new thread), so if anyone knows who the heck is responsible for such things feel free to point them in the right direction... people who can't find guides ATM would appreciate it.
