  1. Maybe it's a Glasgow police box! Those were red, if I recall

(seriously, the BBC trademarked the image, so it's in ye olde intereste of not getting sued)
  2. Oh look I can actually post again. PROGRESS.

Also yeah. Jane's mouth getting somewhat ahead of her brain is a thing that happens. Fun times.
  3. Ragdoll error? The media's concept of the ideal female figure? Both?

I'm... not entirely sure what went wrong there, but yeah. Perhaps it will amuse people.
  4. Not entirely sure how many people give a damn, but it's relevant to anyone who does:

Really struggling to get my brain into IC gear, recently, and I'm snowed under with various bits of work too, so me-related plot and/or FFmeet appearances will be put in stasis for a while until said issues have cleared. Worst-case I won't be able to pick it up again until January, best-case I might be able to sneak another mission in around the 17th. But no promises. Apologies to people who care!
  5. Well, that went smoothly enough. Fairly simple and straightforward, but then that was THE PLAN. If I started a thing by beating the tar out of everybody and having them lose horribly I doubt I'd get them back.

Much thankies to people who came and whatnot. Now, ebil, ebil plotting time.
  6. ((because I am a hilarious nerd, an IC-message from Jane! Sent out via 351-related channels and able to reach essentially anyone who might want it. CONVENIENCE.))

I know there's a lot going on right now. I know these are difficult times for many of us. But the fact is, if I don't take this opportunity now I'm going to lose it for good, and I can't do it alone.

I've had the warehouse discreetly staked out for a few days, and the best time to strike seems to be in the evening, after the working slobs who might have no idea who they're working for have gone home for the night. That way, all that's left in there are people who know exactly what they're supporting, and the consequences it can bring.

Those who feel they can help should report to the Alliance base by 8.30pm on the 19th. I'll take a little time to bring you up to proper speed, then we'll hit the place and get this done.

My grandfather once told me that the value of one's friends is shown best in times of adversity. I think we should prove him right.

    LP

((OR, in OOC terms: toss me a gtell (name being same as here) and I'll sort out getting people into zebase. Hopefully I can actualy pull this off, I'm kinda out of practise. ))
  7. Speaking of missions: mission! But done by that person what only three of you know exists - me!

Having spoken to... people, I think Saturday works best. Timewise, I pretty much have the whole evening free, so iuno. 8.15? 8.30? Something around there? Any MAJOR OBJECTIONS?
  8. OH MAN, drama. What is it with the demon-people recently? They seem to be like proverbial buses.

But yeah, before Shad/Fea/et al blew a Helena-shaped hole in things I kinda had plans of my own involving AE-missionry and magical artefacts and warehouses and whatnot, which I think some people might have been interested in doing.

But, now things are kinda different, h-uh? As discussed with Shad I had kinda pencilled the thing in for doing on Saturday, before/only-slightly-overlapping meeting-time so as not to monopolise people. What I guess I'm asking is, is it still pointful to attempt this or are we in overcrowd-mode now? Accuse me of cheating by using OOC channels all ya like, but I'd rather not make the effort if no-one is gonna show up.

(note: this is not a complaint and it is not some form of incitement against anyone. If anyone tries to treat it as such I will be highly peeved at them.)
  9. OH MAN, that's pretty awesome right there.
  10. Last night...

Stuff! Drama! Jane saying quite a lot but not really explaining very much, and getting herself into trouble with Richard!

Also, me making silly mistakes. Because I'm apparently still kinda rusty despite having done this for years now.
  11. Stuff was indeed funtimes, or the hour or so I got to do right at the end was! Stupid client being all crashy and not letting me turn up until incredibly late.
  12. Man, I am trying to learn to draw properly and you're making me feel all inadequate again. Darn talented people!

(also, thar be references in el signature if you're feeling even more generous! >.>)

This is what I was on about in my last sentence there. The CC only displays the pillarboxes when the game is set to a widescreen resolution - if it didn't, the same screen on a 4:3 would be horribly squished into the middle. This means the game is already rendering something different for widescreen displays here, it's just that whoever implemented this interface apparently took the cop-out option of 'stick pillarboxes on it' rather than adapting it to the wider field.

Not sure I'd use the word 'annoying' precisely, but it's not good. It smacks of laziness, it looks cheap and outdated, and more to the point it's not doing something that the game already did before the update - it's a nonsensical step backwards, especially given that the game can evidently still tell when it's in widescreen mode because the black bars are only present in that situation.
  15. Neat!

HOWEVER. Details. Pay attention to them, web-people.

None of the links outside the 'contents' box on the minisite (i.e. the 'signature story arcs', 'play for free', 'come back to play' and 'become a VIP' ones) work. They're ...en/news/freedom/... rather than ...en/about_freedom/... as they should be, thus 404s.

The 'Learn More' on the main-site splash page is 403ing too.

Most Canadian provinces don't allow profiting from games of chance or gambling outside licensed casinos and provincial lotteries and other such exceptions. The maths question makes it a contest of combined chance and skill, which gets around that little niggle.

As for why a CC is classed as a game of chance, don't ask me.
  17. I am relatively filled with ideas. Just too cripplingly shy to attempt activating any of them.

    Plus ça change...

    Serial Number

Does it want you to pay something or just provide details of a payment method?

If the former, it should tell you directly what it wants from you in terms of cost, and something has gone a bit haywire. However, it is part of the normal account activation procedure for every MMO I've encountered to ask for payment info of some sort - it won't actually be charged anything until the free time packaged with the game expires, unless you cancel it by then, as you are free to do.

I haf probably overdone the statement there, that's a thing that I do. In my brain she is noticeably physically fit, but her strength comes from hyper-dense muscles, not noticeably large ones - toned, but with less of the ultra-low body fat percentages that produce the really visible lines (that's probably not entirely realistic but this is a game about superheroes damnit. :P). If I could draw this would be a lot easier. Also different is not bad!
  20. Prettiness! so... much... prettiness... *kasplodes*

*wanders in with a broom and sweeps up bits of MayBot*

Sorry, they do that sometimes. Seriously though, very, very nice. Reminds me of something... can't recall what, just something in the style.

*obligatory mention of references-in-sig go here*

so YEAH, I should probably do that whole 'checking the forums' thing more than once a month, h-uh?

Sidestepping the, ah, lively discussions for a moment, 'tis a thing of interest. Different to how she looks in my head (she's called Impossible because she doesn't look anything like as strong as she is), but variation is half the fun of having different people-who-draw do characters, is it not? Thankies for doing it!

Almost certainly, yes. But this ain't EVE. CCP take a very hands-off approach with this sort of thing - piracy, racketeering, ransom and theft are expected and pervasive elements of the game. It provides a more realistic approach to the whole economy thing (players are expected to take the risks into acccount before investing anything anywhere, just like that pesky real life thing) and that's evidently what their players enjoy. Live and let live, an' all.

  24. Ah, I haf not been in this particular corner for a while. Seems I missed things!

Winning costume contest or not, you was braver than I would ever be by entering. Perhaps you lost because you were far too HAWT to be a realistic Vahzilok.

The artz, in defiance of the laws of the universe, keep getting somehow better too! Major gratz-age on the comic thing, though I doubt I'll ever see it. (Euuuurope! *shakefist*)
  25. I be not a technician but I'm gona take a flying leap and say not well. High-quality real-time shadows are murderously difficult to render and they seem to be the main component of ze ultramode. A 6200 unless I am ill-informed is a rather elderly card now and probably won't stand much chance.
