What is up with the ragdoll physics?

I have noticed this more and more with npcs....contorted bodies, flopping, spinning heads etc. when they are 'arrested'. Seems to have happened right after the launch of Freedom. Wonder what's going on, and why this is happening.

I thought they said it is dietary? Eating too much vanilla yoghurt?

Edit: Nope, I heard wrong. Villain Yoga. An incarnate power from the Nirvana slot.

There was a patch on the 10th of November that updated the game to a newer version of PhysX. Guess the ragdolls had an allergic reaction to it.

Yep, that was the same patch that cut knockback in half or less, making it far less useful as damage mitigation. Thankfully that seems to have since been fixed.

However, I'm noticing occasional ragdoll spasming at the moment which is making KB pretty long term mitigation, since sometimes a mob will get stuck in a ragdoll spasm without having been defeated, and when that happens to a Lieutenant or Boss, then it's just an excuse to hammer on them until they stop spasming either by unsticking or being arrested (and remember kiddies, 'arrested' just means 'stopped' )...

I notice this occasionally on walkways, ramps and railings. It's like the model gets its "foot caught" and then just dangles helplessly like a pinata. Extra hilarity if it's a Freak. No Dull Pain for you!

From one of the UStreams, the knockback was actually an error from one of the new devs noticing that the gravitational constant for the world wasn't correct, so he "fixed" it, which also ended up reducing knockback effects because things were suffering from real world gravity instead of comic book gravity.

I've noticed what I call the "knockback hold" for a long time, though it may have gotten worse lately. It used to be a rare but enjoyable occurrence on my MA/SR scrapper.

Yah, that did look a little strange...

I've noticed this a lot lately.

It's very nice against a tough enemy -- like Snaptooth in the winter mission. Knock him down on a slope, hit him while he flops down the incline and finally manages to stand up again six seconds later. Knock him down again.

But it's weird looking, yeah. Not really working right.

I've noticed that the ragdoll physics have become a lot more....LOOSE! And the NPCs do bounce a lot more too! Makes for a lot of giggling in game moments!

I watched an Arachnos agent bounce all over the "Cake" room between levels like Speedy Gonzales after being knocked back. And the things that happened to the Winter Lord this past season--unspeakable evil.

For all the newbies, THIS is what all the heroes/npcs used to look like when they died....just like a gingerbread cookie. When the devs introduced ragdoll physics, it was actually amazing.

I have to admit that the ragdoll physics have made teaming for missions next to impossible...we've been to busy laughing to actually pay attention to the fighting. Especially when "Knockout Blow" puts a baddie into the ceiling and it stays there flopping about!

...and much hilarity ensued!

So I was trying to find a good example of a critter zombie-dolling away after being killed, when I ran across a different kind of strange death. Actually, I'm not sure what to call this exactly, but never before or since have I died in quite this way.

I am apparently trying to either swim my way, or dig my way, to Tartarus.

I've gotten that pose when I've been killed in flight. It normally stops when I hit the ground.

Ragdoll error? The media's concept of the ideal female figure? Both?

I'm... not entirely sure what went wrong there, but yeah. Perhaps it will amuse people.
