The devs never EVER punished Players for the bugs before.
And a "bug" this gamebreaking in the devs eyes which could have been "fixed" in ONE day, should have benn fixed in ONE day.
Its funny that you get punished for "bugs" players benefit from while bugs which affect players in a negative way dont ever get fixed.
Devs are always fast to fix beneficial bugs while they are very very slow to fix negative bugs, if they fix them at all.

What exactly are you talking about?
If you've not PLed in the MA, then there's nothing to worry about - and even a few levels would probably be ok anyway - I think it's the 50s in less than a day that they're going to go after.

Noone has defended the lvl 1-50 in 2 days farmers. NOONE! what we're saying is something completely different, but you're so locked up thinking we do defend them you totally miss what we're saying.
Now, if you actually care to discuss the real thing there's 31 pages of repeated, actually valid arguments that you guys don't really respond to. You come with arguments, instead of countering our arguments.
You care about "them" being punished!
We care about the game and it's survival.

Usually you warn someone that he/she will get punished for doing something.
If a boss tells an employee to NOT read a letter and the employee does anyway he can be punished.
If the boss didnt warn the employee before he cant punish him/her retroctively cause the emplyoee didnt know he will get punished for it.
Thats how its handled in the "normal" world aynway, otherwise you can just change the rules and fire people for doing something that wasnt "forbidden" before.

You clearly have a very 'optimistic' view about bosses. There are things like written and unwritten rules.
A boss expect that you work for him in the hours that he pays you, he also expects you not to steal from the office stores or do things that could harm the company.
So if you talk about things that are sensitive and cost your boss a million pound contract you bet that he will be very angry at you, possibly even firing you. You should have known better.
In this case, this was obviously an exploit, using an exploit is against the EULA, case closed.

Well I censored care about players whining that they did nothing wrong. Blaming the Dev's for the acts of a bunch of cheaters is wrong wrong wrong.
There is plenty things to blame the Dev's for, but that does not shift the blame from the true wrongdoers.
And yes, I want this game to thrive and i blame greedy stupid cheaters for the mess just as much as I blame the devs for giving them so much opportunity.
All they can do now is damage control. And if that means that some cheaters leave? Good riddance.

If the MA wasn't ok to use, the devs would never have made it - it's the way some people have been using it that's the problem.
And we really can't tell what's naughty and what isn't until we hear what types of 50s are being suspended.

The game didn't die last week when the various (and rightly) angry folks cancelled their subscriptions, and it won't die next week when the angry farmers cancel theirs.
I do think the game is in a tricky situation right now and the next few months are going to be very important in terms of it's survival. I'm hoping Positron has some interesting tricks stuffed up his armoured sleeves, not only to recover from the last couple of weeks, but for the coming storm.
What ever the options are, I reckon that each and every one of us wants City of Heroes/Villains to survive, to grow and to still be the best MMO there is.

Btw i DID read the EUlA i doubt many did, and there is absolutely NOTHING in it that says farming is an exploit or that you get punished for doing it.
In the whole EULA they didnt even mention the word exploit ONCE.
Maybe read the EUlA yourself before jumping to conclusions ?

MA abuse was mentioned in the I14 patch notes, and players were told it was not allowed.
The warning has been in place since I14 went live - and if people ignored it, then that doesn't mean they're not guilty of abusing the system.

It's obviously an abuse of the MA to use it to level character to 50 in a matter of hours. How, in any reality, can that be seen as the way it was supposed to be used, or the game supposed to be played?
The issue here isn't farming, it's the systematic abuse of a system that was supposed to be a flagship feature of CoX. Instead, that abuse has made the whole game a laughing stock. And people defend that abuse? Not only defend it but refuse to take any kind of responsibility for taking part in it, even to the point of saying things along the lines of "the devs made me do it, it's not my fault!"

I was one of the first to say the Ma farms are killing CoX.
I dont like the farms either, i want them to stop.
What i think is wrong is to punish the players retroactive now.
If they punish players who abuse it now after they warned them its ok.
Regarding the stance indicated by Posi, I'm in the supporter camp.
And that's all I trust myself to say on the matter, except to reiterate the sentiment I've seen a few times.
