She was great. But you know what? I got a distinct vibe from Posi that was "I'm done with this, let's wheel out the Canadian, they all love her."

He responded to some questions, but ignored any that seemed even vaguely difficult except the PVP questions because he was pressed repeatedly on them. To the question "What is so difficult about touching base wtih the EU from time to time" his reply was simply "I'm here now aren't I?" If he replied to my point that was once in 3 years I didn't hear it.

I overwhelmingly got the impression that Posi thinks it's their game, they know what's best and sod the paying customer.

Yea well that attitude will eventually [censored] him dont worry.

Oh does anyone with a US account know if they're as pleased with everything as we are right now?

"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"

If that was actualy his attitude, then it might be a problem - luckily, it's not

It IS their game. They can't give players what they want because players want everything, they want it now, and they don't even want the same things as each other. You can't build an MMO on that basis.

Posi, like Jack Emmert and any other lead designer in the industry, have to have a "vision" for the game and they have to take a chance on that vision finding the audience they need to keep them in jobs.

Actually walking into work today I was prepared to eat my words, I was expecting an announcement like the "3rd side" or "City of Spies" they detailed in that questionnaire they sent SG Leaders a while back, some sort of paid expansion which lets you start off as a neutral in a new zone or two before branching off towards Heroes or Villains, with an engine upgrade in it.

Now I am jaded (and not just because the Tiny Dictator thought 4:30 this morning was a great time for a round of playtime and kick daddy in the head rather than sleeping).

I think Jack Emmert said all he needed to when he effectively said "people leave, so what? new people will start playing and fill the gap"

Possibly, but regardless ... what was there in what Positron did say that's worth liking? He didn't exactly go overboard on the talking, good or bad.

I hung about in the training room for a fair bit of time yesterday, I thought War Witch, Avatea & GR were all great fun and seemed to understand us as players (and customers), however Positron seemed IMO to lack people skills and come across as a little arrogant and didn't seem to want to listen to anything that was being said. He gave a kind of "don't care, take it or leave it" impression. Perhaps another reason why there are a few leavers threads today

The thing is i cant blame him recent events show just what happens when the Devs talk about somthing and it either fails to appear (the vault) or dose apear but needs reworking (CoP trial)

these things are then cast up as broken promises at pretty much every opertunity so why would Posi make anything other than vage refrence to things

Look at powercustomisation he could have awsered
"yes were planning it for the future and are looking at ways of implimenting it"
2 or 3 months down that would become in the players minds
"Yes were implimenting it in the future"
another 6 months and the shouts of
"why no power customisation yet"
and thats before you add in players reading betwean the lines a cryptic post of
"Were working on some charichter changes in issue X"
would become
"power customisation is in issue X"
Then when issue X arrived and those charichter changes were revealed to infact be the ability to change body type all hell would brake loose because there was not power customisation.

With both those things you cite that's only half the story.

They announced the Vault and yesterday was the first inkling it had been shelved. No word from them until we asked a direct question. They should have told us it wasn't going to happen or it was "A very long way off" etc.

Similarly the CoP... That launcehd when? Issue 9 IIRC. Either way that was in 2007 and it should have gotten fixed (or scrapped) by now. Leaving it, and us, hanging isn't really acceptable. If they can't fix it then tell us. If they can, then tell us when.

But in that case why say anything? Why turn up? Why announce that there'd be an ingame announcement?

As it happens I think that Posi did Ok in the pocket D - many people seem upset that he didn't answer their question.. but hell he probably answered or referred to about a third of the questions asked at most. If he sees the chat in any way like we see it then I'm amazed he did that well - following 20 or 30 people all talking/questioning at once isn't easy, especially when answering one question.

I also consider that he did address PvP as much as would be expected and as much as he could without making it a nothing-but-PvP session.

I15 is a small issue, but I think that's mainly because of wanting it out around the CoH anniversary and I14 taking longer than planned (I14 releasing early was partly for Easter and partly to try getting I15 out around the anniversary IMO).

The biggest mistakes of yesterday were:
* Publishing the I15 web page before the announcement;
* Mentioning the 'fun' birthday address as if it was something worth taking notice of.

The address was laughable. It should really have just been done as a surprise without publicising it beforehand. Wouldn't it have been a little bit cooler to have a message from Positron popup unexpected? Wouldn't that have avoided anyone getting unrealistic expectations as no-one expected anything?

The address was made more laughable by the I15 content page being up all day yesterday - it was as if Paragon Studios was intentionally trying to steal Posi's thunder...

Sorry scarlet but i just flat out fail to see your position so they never told us that the vault is shelved till they work out the major issues with it big deal were you playing the game hoping that vault was coming?

Same go's for CoP it was broke in a stupidly major way that makes peoples worries about new players going from 1 to 50 in 8 hours look like a paper cut they had to pull it and when asked about it they said they were working on it and still are as far as we know maybe its not a easy fix maybe there looking at fully reworking it only they know and while yes a update on features would be nice since they wouldn't give defined dates we would be non the wiser than them saying soon.

I mean how long is soon can it be converted into months course not its a word used when you want to get something done but have no idea how long it'll take soon could equal anything from just after now to the end of time.

And whats the rest of the story i assume one of the other "missing" things is a forum update but that's not the Devs that's NCsoft that's going to bring us that for a update concerning that you should be pestering our Mods

I read that the same can be achieved now with MA farming teams, so they will close MA too?

I think if you reread it he is referring to the MA.

He's saying "CoP was broken far worse than the MA allowing 1-50 in 8 hrs".

If memory serves (which it rarely dose) the flaw with CoP involved you being able to collect the mission completion bonus (which was suitable huge) over and over and over again.

[/ QUOTE ]Ah yes, you're right, my bad (not having English as my native language doesn't help a lot, imagine now that I am furious after the recent events and can't think straight)!
My question remains: Are they going to close down MA too?

[/ QUOTE ]Yes, that was it. CoP closed ASAP though, so we miss it less and no major damage done...

Close? i rather doubt it they put to much into it to just close it (CoP after all was just a glorified task force) however i expect those features added under the title of "Plus several other features and improvements to Mission Architect" in the i15 announcement will be at least partially aimed at reducing the farm potential of architect.

also i wonder if the phrase tagging will be set up in such a way that it flags a mish for a mod to take a look at at there earliest convenience so if a MA mish contains phrase like "easy XP, Fun XP, Funny XP, XP Farm" in its description a mod would be notified and could then act on it.

It won't take long for the formers to learn those tags and start using less obvious names.

[/ QUOTE ]If you're looking for a story mission, would you rather that all the farm missions were clearly marked as farm missions and thus wouldn't waste your time, or that they were disguised as story missions?

Personally i would love them to create a number of Tags (including a farm tag) and allow the mission maker to stick there mission in there desired category so those who wish to farm to farm (me being one of them from time to time) but i realise no matter how sensible that would be that's not the route the Devs will take

The devs don't care that the old community stalwarts are leaving in droves. All that matters is that they are replaced by herds of pharmers with enough money for one more issue. We all know it's foolish to throw away your long-term investment in favour of short term gain, but the devs inaction in response to the farming deserves nothing but derision, and the only way they will listen is if people quit. They aren't reading message boards, they just want to get subs numbers up. Well, I'm happy that the old timers are going - they'll be better off, and the devs might pay some attention when their numbers fall.

i16? Sure, it'll be more toys nobody wants instead of fixing/changing old stuff, but who will be here to experience it, I wonder.

That inaction would be the constant server downtimes recently to remove exploitable items from the MA, right?

No, it'd be the devs tolerance of (amounting to encouragement of) the generation of farming oriented missions. Sometimes it's what you DON'T do that matters.
