Taken from the US forums. ( Source )

so it made me wonder..whats tells have u recieved??

NOTE: dont post names from the person-due to rules of the forum, just the tell or what it was roughly about.

ill start of: had to go to work, so just before i was about to log i got a tell asking to team. (lvl 1 and i was 2) i said sorry got to go to work. for the next couple of mins he or she was just swearing at me for making work more important then teaming. (as i dont like to cut n run from ppl i stayed to answer him) while i wasnt rude, it still made me say w.t.h!!, lol many sad ppl in the world hehe

I used to get some dodgy tells before they started putting the team invite block on. Since coming back I don't think I've had anything I could decribe as rude.

I was creating a team the other day and sending tells asking people if they were interested. Most people were polite, but I did get one very emphatic NO!!!!

They had LFT on, and I think it said 'looking for any' in the desc, but what the hell, I though sending tells was the polite way to create a team.

Thankfully I've never had a rude tell in-game. Had more than a few in teams though, but I won't repeat them here since the censorship would make them seem even more illiterate than the typist was originally.

Characters:
The Heroic Mary Grace (50)
The Mystical Thunderspark (50)
The Candy-loving Little Jenny (50)

It is, and don't let anyone tell you different.

I do object when I'm clearly marked as not looking or blocked, but that's different.

Think the worst I've had was "Join" not a question more a demand - that one got an equally curt NO back.

That and the stupidly high number of ones that seem to think the only thing people do with lvl 50s is to farm - you'ld think that the description No Inf Farms would give them a clue, even worse when its immediately followed by a blind invite - the only thing that does is to earn them a /ignore and until 3 months ago only one person who would be familiar to many from a couple of years ago made it to my ignore list.
I have no problem with people farming but I do with those that are too ignorant to read search descriptions.

I used to get plentiful rude tells, usually in badly-spelled or sometimes impossible to read txt-msg code just for politely declining invitations to join a team. Even if I amended my search comment to 'Do not ask me to farm, fill, or bridge unless you have 100,000,000 influence, payable in advance.' people still asked if I wanted to perform one of those three activities. When I directed their attention to my comment, I was met with a readily ignored stream of expletives and scorn. I find it odd that I am in the wrong, for their lack of reading aptitude. They could have saved themselves ten minutes of fury. Ah well.

Then the Dev's introduced the multiple /hide options, and I routinely hide from /search. It's been a blissfully peaceful few months.

I don't remember getting many offensive ones - some strange ones form time to time, but nothing really offensive
Mostly, I just get ones from people no my friends lists, plus ones from new players I've dumped phat lewt on

Oh I do love that revamped /hide.

Not long ago I got an apparently polite tell asking for a team. I replied with my standard "Not right now, sorry". 99% of the time I get a reply thanking me for replying. Not this time. This guy simply flung back "f*** u than n00b".
I think what bothered me the most was the atrocious spelling of the word 'then', I mean c'mon, it's four letters. He was promptly /ignored.

Hmm, worst one,

I logged on for a few hours before work, towards the end of the session I went AFK for a few minutes, I came back to a team invite, checking the clock I clicked no and went to reply to the tell that came with it.

I promptly recieved a tell saying "Right, I'm going to log onto my other character and boot you from the SG if you don't join, SG members need to help each other out."

He didn't get chance to boot me from the SG, as far as I know the SG is now dead.

From the first chat log file in my COH folder, dating back to 2006 during an innocent visit to Atlas...

[Tell]Total Stranger: eo u want to hve sex with me
[Tell]-->Total Stranger: shoo

And then 2 minutes later in local chat I see:
[Local]Innocent Bystander: no
[Local]Total Stranger: y
[Local]Innocent Bystander: cause i dnt

I assume they were getting similar tells to me

Defiant 50s: Generalissimo, Righteous Bob, Splortch, Brutus Cayuga
Union 50's: Chimera Obscura, Diet Anthracite, Grim Proctologist, Puny Little Minion, Raging Bitumen

And people wonder why the server looks empty. lots of people are om search hide to avoid unwanted invites

i've had a few nasty tells over the years but the worst one was someone who wanted to date me in RL. As long time readers may remember I'm a boy who likes boys not girls and dating a female isn't an option, especially someone who I have never actually met. It started with a few teams where I was awesome, then it went to I really like you, then it was declarations of undying love and I want to marry you. I found it terribly creepy and refused to reply any more. Being a newby I didn't know about ignore and felt terrible when I logged on as all I got was bunny boiling tells and e-mails. Eventually the leader of the SG i had just joined pointed me in the direction of petitioning and never heard anything more. But for the three weeks it went on for it was quite disturbing.

Mind you, i can understand the attraction, i'm so l33t and awesome

A couple of nights ago I was in WW window shopping Purple Recipes on Golden when I got a tell 'Fill' followed by an invite. I chuckled to myself and continued browsing and ignored it till I logged

Yeah, I started with the people who were LFT, don't think I needed to stretch to the people who were down as the default. Given thats how you are when you log on, I will /tell to them if necessary.

Aww... I've always wanted a weirdo cyberstalker of my own; who I could toy with and mess with their heads.

Mate, I know you mean it as a joke, but that's a really crass thing to say, and if I wasn't one of the nice people who wanted to be friends, I'd wish you got that stalker, so you can have the 'pleasure' of knowing what it's like.

Sometimes the nicest people on the Internet can turn into real jerks by not actually thinking what they're typing...

You're right... On thinking about it, I guess it COULD be taken wrongly. Enforcer (or anyone else who've experienced this), if I said anything that upset you, you have my sincerest apologies.

Trust the wise Ravenswing, I WAS joking.

EDIT: In fact, I've decided to remove my post, as it WAS crass. Sorry again folks.

In general I like to think of myself as an optimist, when it comes to people especially in this game over other well known mmo's as I have always been a staunch supporter of the amazing community we have overall, but there are occasions when I bang my head on the keyboard in frustration, and nine times out of ten its two areas;

PvP players...while on the whole here are a freindly bunch... a little competitive yes but still nice chaps - though there are occasions where the atmosphere in a pvp zone can collapse into a midless frenzy of abuse, my best advice to folks in these situations is just to stop replying, the more you react to peoples bait the worse it can get.

Farmers, again mostly a friendly bunch and while not my cup of tea - each to their own on how to play the game but i do object to the fact that if I reply politely to a blind inv or a tell saying "fill now" etc, I occasionally get multiple abusive replies such as "ill remember next time you selfish (delete expletive)" or "f*** you then".
Now while on the whole these are incredibly rare I feel the need to point out that these stand out, and in a strange way that is a good thing....
For if I couldnt recall certain situations such as these it would mean they are a regular occurance, which thankfully due to the mass community being accomodating and friendly, its the reason im still here...
