My idea was the story of Rapunzel. I stuck to the cannon, using existing NPC's and build upon them.

The author rewrote my rough idea and added some beautiful proza and a more believalbe if less satisfactory ending (you know it when you play it). When I saw this one on my search, I knew I had to play it.
Thanks for remembering this arc Grinning Spade, to be honest I completely forgotten I'd published this until I checked on my published arcs the other night and this came up. Then I ran a search for the arc number and this thread came up. I'll be refining it a little now, taking some of the comments people made onboard and trying to improve it.

Incidently, would you believe that the entire prose was scripted in my head one lazy afternoon at work the day after Grinning Spade posted the original idea? I get really, really bored at work sometimes.

In fact I did some digging and found the original thread this was posted in here.

    The Boot Myth

I've never been booted from a team for bad power choices.

I have however, quit a team when the leader decided to kick an FF Defender for not being a healer, even after I pointed out that my Tanker had a better survivability rate with FF Defenders than Emp Defenders and told him point blank that if he kicked the Defender I'd quit as well.

I quit, teamed with the defender and got tells off the rest of the team 5 minutes later saying that the leader had been an idiot, caused a teamwipe and blamed it on them and could they join the new team.

I invited them and had a fun night of it.
  4. Great work as always, it's wierd though, you'd think with machima skills like that game companies would be banging at your door to see what you were capable of with the "Official Tools" their marketing divisions use.

Also, somebody poke someone in programming in the direction of Cryptic's new demorecorder, if we could implement a few tools off that...

Incorrect, the character remains yours, however by entering the server and finalizing the character you give NCSoft permission to use your character as they wish.

This means that your character can be used in promotions, videos, comics or anything else created by NCSoft without them needing to ask your permission or pay you anything.

Your not missing much, just the standard doom rants of how new content is added without fixing current bugs ect. ect.

*kneels over from laughter at the last statement.*

Ok, lets get one thing straight, writing takes a lot more time and effort to do than simply thinking of something then writing it down. You have to deal with backstories, explain orginal concepts to the reader/player, and find ways to get the reader/player to connect with the story. The last one is particually important in MMOs as the player is one of the main characters in the story.

The MA Arc in my sig took three weeks to complete, that included writing, creating the arc and OCs in the MA, bug testing, rebuilding the arc to fix/get around the bugs and getting a few mates together for a final playthrough before puplishing.

Add onto that the development time for any new animations/attacks/maps/models/gameplay mechanics/cutscenes and that new storyarc now takes at least 3 months rather than 3 weeks. That's right, at least 4 times longer than creating a story arc in the MA. And right now that's all being channelled into GR.

You forgot the fact that it would break within five minutes in a standard DOOM thread.

Can you name one feature that the WoW dev team have proposed for after Cataclysm, no, then we have no assurances about the 100million pound gorilla of the MMO industry's future after Cataclysm. After the mess JE caused announcing features Posi and Co. came up with would all be in CO, I'd be surprised if they announced things up to 10 months ahead of schedual.

Also, if you're an EU player then make sure the shortcut points to CohUpdater.EU.exe and not CohUpdater.exe.
  8. It's as they say, try and drag Crey Industries through the mud and it's your name that gets dragged through.

Their current list of cannon crimes include -

Murder - Synapse's best friend was murdered, then resurrected in a science experiment to see if they could raise the dead.

Performing illegal experiments on people without permission - Synapse gained his powers after being kidnapped by Crey as he discovered a discrepancy in their accounts that they didn't want making public.

Kidnapping and illegal containment of Meta - Humans - The Paragon Protector Project is maintained by kidnapping and cloning of heroes.

Bribery - Certain Crey story arcs will have official warrants for your arrest issued for crimes against Crey Industries following anonymous donations to leading political figures.

Witholding of Rikti Tech from Vanguard - The first Rikti War.

Unfortunately the countess's laywers know every loophole in the books and no official charges have ever stuck against a board member. Although, if you're a scientist on the payroll doing the illegal experiments, expect to be used as a scapegoat when things go pear shaped.
  9. MCM, is there any news of what happened to the review of Love's Labours Lost? It was first in the queue, now it's not even mentioned.
  10. Where do I begin?

    Bluedarky (Nat Invun/SS Tank)

Stephan Browns Grandfather was killed attempting to stop the hollowing, the timing and means of his death meant that there was no body, so the burial consisted of a coffin filled with mementos of his grandfather's days a as a hero and a pro wrestler. At the funeral an old friend of Stephan's grandfather offered to continue the training his grandfather had started, but he refused, not wanting to die the same way as his grandfather.

When Stephan grew older he took control of a small gang in Atlas Park, as this was before heroes were as commonplace as they are now, they dedicated themselves to helping to clean up the neighbourhood, until a group of hellions put Stephan and his two best friends in the hospitial.

Stephan's best friends were Meta-humans, Jessica was born with a magical ability to perfectly replicate any fighting move she saw, and Michael had been born with incredible psychic powers. But both admitted that due to Stephan's training by his grandfather as a child, that he was the best fighter of the three. This is why Stephan suffered the most, and why his friends felt it best to turn to other ways of becoming powerful.

To this day he doesn't know where they found the supradyne, but when he returned he found his neighbourhood overrun with Trolls, led by his two best friends. When he refused to take the Supradyne, they captured him and tortured him. When he stopped feeling pain, Jessica showed him a news video, showing his grandfather's grave dug up and the mementos buried within smashed and torn.

Fueled by his rage at the desecration of his grandfather's grave, he broke out of the cell and fought his way from the Troll hideout. His body almost collapsing from the stress, he made his way to his grandfather's grave where his grandfather's old friend was waiting for him, the offer was repeated and this time Stephan accepted, taking the remenants of his grandfathers coat from the graveside he set out on the path to be a hero.

    Amanda Johnson (Mut Psy/Psy Blaster)

Amanda had never been normal, unlike most mutants her powers had been active the day she was born, and through her young life she had been forced to wear an inhibitor to prevent her powers giving her an advantage over normal kids.

Baring the teasing for the massive electronic device she was forced to wear, Amanda actually managed to live a relatively normal life, she was selected for training by Sister Psyche at a young age and was simply waiting until that training could begin.

It wasn't to be however, one day whilst she was off sick, the Carnival of Shadows attacked the school hoping to add her powers to their own. Although the worst of the attack was fought off by the heroes, Amanda's classmates were rendered mindless or insane by the attack. In her anger Amanda removed the inhibitor and unleashed her rage on the Carnival of Shadows.

The psychic backlash from the assault was incredible, Amanda's untapped potential was unleashed in a maelstrom of anger and passion. In an unprecidented moment, the heroes of Paragon City were forced to join forces with the psychic villains of the city to track down this threat to the psychic balance.

When they attempted to locate the source of the power they discovered it had split into two, Amanda's rage taking physical form as it rampaged through the Carnival of Shadows's forces.

When they finally discovered the location of the real Amanda, a young training hero was the first to arrive, remembering his orders he quickly grabbed the inhibitor and placed it around her head and activated it. The two Amanda's fell to the floor unconcious.

Realising it would be foolish to leave her untrained now she had tapped into her potential, Sister Psyche took up the training of Amanda immediately. For three young years she trained her powers, teaching her to control and manipulate the psychic threads around her. But even with this knowledge she knew that Amanda was not going to last as a hero.

Sister Psyche was at a loss at how to continue the young girls training, Amanda needed to learn to survive, rather than to grab information from anothers head. When she found Bluedarky at a party and realised that he could block psychic intrusions subconciously, she felt her prayers were answered. She requested the young heroes assistance, and a week later he found himself training the young psychic. A task he continues to this day.

    Hi everyone.
  15. The transition period will certainly be...

    interesting.
  16. Save the file under a different name, then remove the objectives one at a time to see what's causing the failure.

Then add the other objectives one at a time to see if they also caused it.

And lastly, see if you can alter or rewrite the objective that's causing it to fail.
  17. A few questions,

Have Crey Industries ever made an attempt to "legally" recover the Positron Armour?

On the same subject, are Positron and Synapse simply waiting to gather the evidence they need to take on Crey Industries, or have they decided not to seek revenge?

    Basic Maths

The optimum time to release GR, would be a month and a half after CO's release, for three reasons-

    1) It will be around the highest point of initial subscribers to CO unsubscribing.

    2) It is the time when people begin to start Xmas shopping. (This is especially true if it there is an edition with CoX itself packaged.)

    3. Any major bugs that make it into live can be fixed before Thanksgiving and Xmas.
  19. Are these Allies set to pacifist at all, it's a known issue that their fighting style won't change when they betray you, and they won't use any auto powers like dispersion bubble unless they're set to aggressive.

I should add that there's nothing legally stopping NCsoft or Paragon releasing a character creator the agreement reached between Marvel and NCsoft was just that. basically it was a case of we wont take you to court if you police your self.

    Evidence pls,

Seriously, last time I checked the full details of the actual agreement had never been released so we can't confirm anything.

But then nor does trading Inf on an Auction system. Or being able to give it to friends.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bah, you and your logical extensions of people's arguments. However I'll attempt to counter with the use of extremely tenuous counter-points & examples:

The trading thing is obviously "Hey, Superdude was hanging around with Beetleman today. That Beetleman sure is cool"

And the AH thing is "Oh hello Superdude, why yes we do have some [uber recipe]s around, was going to give it to Beetleman but you're far more famous so here you go"

*watches his examples stretched waaaay beyond breaking point*

Run for your lives. She's gonna blow!

    [/ QUOTE ]

TBH I view it more along the lines of a favours/threats kind of system,

I.e. Hey Superdude, Beetleman asked me to help you out a little, need a few enhancements.

The AH issue I just chose to ignore, or assume they get actual money from Hero Corps/Arachnos.
