VEATs powers boring?

Why does this topic even exist?
How do you know the AT will be "boring" after watching a little promotional trailer about it.
Why does there even need to be an argument about the *speculation* about the AT.

I for one am glad they adding VEAT. Were they what i expected? nope. But they look to be intresting with a brand new way to develop your character. (oh noes it's new... it must be bad! i hate new things so much i never change my undies).
Does some things about them look iffy? Yeah sure, but here's the kicker: I... Have... Not... Played... It... Yet.
So why get upset about something that might or might not be true?

So do this before preaching the doom of VEAT.
1: Wait for Issue 12 to launch.
2: Make a VEAT or more since there's two types and each can branch two diffrent ways.
3: Play to at least 35+ so you have some powers earned after brancing.

Then and only then, might what you post carry more weight than a snowflake in the wind. Cause right now you're pretty much only making yourself look like a whiney little kid who didn't get his lollipop in the color he wanted.

There is no reason to be rude.
I never preached Doom, just posted that i am dissapointed they reused same looking animations on nightwidows and fortunatas (all shown in video)
Never said a thing about crab spiders, how the SoA in general will play or that they will suck and be boring to play.
Thats not whining, just posting my opinion based on the stuff i have seen, sure there are more powers but they ones i have seen dissapointed me, why do i have to wait till i can play them to say that ?

I might love them once i play them i might love the powers i have not yet seen but still will be a bit dissapointed about the ones i already know.

If you like what you have seen, i am happy for you, thats your opinion and thats fine for me
I am not calling anyone fanboy who loves everything without testing so no reason to call someone whiner for their opinion.

Why not wait until it comes out before you start to put them down oh and also pb powers are copied from many powers in hero sets

Will the powers i am dissapointed in change when i12 goes live, most likely not.
Pb powers all have a unique look.

Agreed. I've played CoV on and off since launch but never really took to any of it's ATs, so I've never had a lvl 50 on the red side.
As soon as they revealed what the VEATs will be I made myself a DB Brute with the intent of grinding to 50. He's lvl 40 now, so what's that tell ya? Apart from my lack of a life

You can't please all the people all the time, but from the response to this thread it seems the devs have come pretty close.

But, most powersets re-use animations.. Most blasting powersets use similar animations but with different effects, because it saves time, memory, etc.
Plus, and I think the biggest reason to re-use animations in this case... if you are a Fortunata/Night Widow, then surely you should be animated AS a Fortunata/Night Widow.

Just to be clear, when people use the term "animations" are they refering to the toon's body movement? the special effects rendered by the powers and abilities? or both, englobed into the full final result?

Best thing about VEATs is I will hopefully have not to solo if I play a brute to 50 now
And well if we know the powers up to lv24, it means we actually know more than a half of the powers that will be available at 50. So far they look dull as hell to my eyes but, who knows, they might be like trollers and get the good stuff at higher lvs, time will tell. Still, I'm with the majority here, and up to lv24 in terms of practise, they look really boring.

Actually thats not true.

Wolf Spiders use guns for the majority of their powers, Bane and Crab Spiders don't.

We have no idea what happens when branching takes place, do powers simply evolve? Do you have to respec to your new path? Presumably old powers will no longer be available (or not all of them will) Meaning that we have only seen a small fraction of the VEAT powers...

That is possible, but not very likely I think.

The other two options are:

2) You keep your gun powers, but they are overshadowed by your mace/backpack powers. You could use a respec to remove most of them if you like (I checked, and it is possible to create a character with only one primary power).

3) Your gun powers transfer to your mace or backpack, using different animations.

I hope this is the case - even if it is just to stop the differe 're-draw' animations as you swap between mace and gun....plus it would fit in better with the character concept.

They've pretty much had to use whats in the box for a bit of a filler issue whilst ramping up staff. Most powers are repackaged and similar when it comes to movements across many sets anyway; they are just given a different power graphic and different damage type. However its not all quite the same because they are also put with other powers that make the powerset unlike other powersets. I just see things as ST, AoE, Cone etc so no matter what game I go on I am relatively stuffed but its all the different powers combined that make you different. I have yet to see the latter powers. Suppression and Channel gun are potentially very interesting but I doubt we will get them seriously overpowered. I'd love to sap people good and proper.

Now that's not entirely true, we an "Old" NPC powerset, filled out with new powers. Omega man., some of the dart animations , and the rifle melee attacks in the video alone are new animations and powers. And to be honest the secondaries are completely new, as even the NPCs do't have "teamwork" or "gadgets and training". They have your standard "Villain resistance" and "Mind link" powers.

Even kheldians are rad (Glinting eyes, that one where you use a fallen teammate as a mini nuke) Energy/dark blasts, energy/invul/dark armor, energy melee etc reused with some new graphics, plus a few "newish" filler powers (Unless i'm mistaken even photon seekers are not that unique anymore as traps have them)

I think over all one of the main problems is people treating this as a "Big" issue, when it's just a filler (And if your an anime fan you'll no while fillers help flesh things out, they aren't truely esential to the main story progress ) Just because it seems big by Cryptics older budget for issues, imagine what a "major" issue like 13 will be like!

For a filler issue, I don't think they did to bad of a job with these VEATs. Wait till the big ones, with all this "origin of powers stuff" you may get your exiciting epics in the form of Incarantes! (If not you could always roll a shield toon, that would be completely new for you)

I really don't see the problem with the VEAT's like I said earlier animations being reused really isn't that much of a problem when you think about it. Yes new animations are nice to look at for the first few times but they too become old and fairly quickly when you think about the amount of times you'll see them.

I really like the VEATS and dont deem their powers as boring because while I have seen them ingame I havent had a chance to use them myself but im sure there will be those out there that will dislike them but thats life.

and in referance to them being samey truth is they couldnt be massive differant due to them being based on an ingame foe, we will still see some surprises I feel and if at the very least they will be something differant to play, which is always a good thing.

Besides were getting an exclusive story arc to follow and hopefully *crosses fingers* I will see a little more of what this Bane Spider Hive-Mind is like as that is part of what intrigues me about the banes and why I want to play them.
