My first opinion was I want a bane spider and a crab spider and I'll get round to the widow side of VEATs at a much later date... then I see Elude in the Night widow powers ... Stuff arachnos soldiers I now wants me my Night widow. All the worry about similarities to my mind/psi dom that I didn't air, but a few other have done, have totally evaporated (I love you elude) because the Psi powers VEATs have appear to be as different as I had hoped compared to my doms.

My Post is right above yours Cain......and you couldnt remember me......Lord Ebon Spider lol

what I found interesting was that even though Cain hadnt fully gotten the correct powers (his words I havent respecced correctly) and he is able to rip enemies in two with ease, speaks volumes. I cant wait hopefully tonight I will be a bane as im lvl 22 now and the guys n gals of Arachnophobia are helping

big thanks to

When it comes to the sets, I see:

claws;
assault rifle;
super reflexes;
psionic blast;
mind control.

All of which I have a level 50 with.

So really I should be the most horribly bored person.

But I am not, I feel somewhat empowered. Someones mixed up what I am most experienced in and becos i can get confront I wonder: will I tank heroes with it?

Hopefully in a way that I imagined an all scrapper team could with a leadership build...So now while everyone is interested in getting the kills (when in wolfpacks this should be good) I might have a chance of clearing up another of my what if ideas. Kills just ain't my thing; I care as much about other people getting them as they do themselves.

At the risk 'OMG NOOB' shouts I have to say:

I won't be branching my Wolf Spider when I12 goes live.

He looks too damn cool as he is and I love all his powers, guess I'll be taking a few pools to fill the gap

Not a n00b really Gilmore, We are planning to have a Wolf Spider as well as a Crab Spider and Bane Spider, hell I get 5 slots when issue 12 goes live so they are all gonna be for VEATs

Posted

I have 2/3/4 slots I might not make Widows though. Too much like Claw Scrappers and Fortunata's are just Psi blasters, which I am making anyway

Widow Tanking!!

Even on the LRSF.

Call me what you like you Novices.

Its a tad early to be getting into numbers but I couldn't help it. These guys are looking heavenly flexible

Better than Khelds in my opinion!

Fortunata side looks interesting but I'd rather do one later

You can keep the wolf spider rifle and the uniform, and still pick up some bane spider powers I believe (Pummel and Bayonet do critical damage from hidden).

I really should do something about this signature.

At present I'm looking at rolling a Crab Spider. Fortunas and Widows don't interest me much; although that's probably more to do with me already having a Spines/DA, a "Sapper", and a Stalker.

I'd had my eye on Banes since hearing about the VEATs, but in my opinion they're simply too squishy now ever since their Placate's recharge time was tripled. They are mostly single-target melee damage, but they now lack the mitigation necessary to go toe-to-toe with (or in many cases even kite) Bosses or EBs.

At the moment an EM/Regen /WP or /Ninjitsu Stalker with the Mace patron is better in virtually every respect than a Bane Spider: far higher ST damage, more survivable, and just as much mob "lockdown". The only real thing they have going for them is the allied buffs, which Crabs can do just as well if not better (better because Crabs can stay in one spot near their teammates whilst fighting whereas Banes need to be more mobile to rehide and inflict their melee damage).

Crabs on the other hand I quite like the look of. They are much better suited to AoE damage and Ranged damage than Banes, and with both a Dull Pain clone and a Resistance toggle they're considerably more survivable. They also get access to exactly the same pet "layout" as Masterminds: three -2s (Spiderlings), 2 -1s (Disruptors) and an even-level (Patron Pet), and their Leadership powers will boost the pets' survivability as well as that of their teammates. The fact that most of their damage is of a fairly unresisted type and they have a regular "Nuke" is a bonus.

Right now I'm planning to roll a Crab Spider specced for AoE damage and Pet control. An AoE attack chain of Aim + Venom Grenade + Elec Fences + Frag Grenade + Ball Lightning inflicts about 585 Damage straight-up and 760 Damage after factoring in the 40% -resistance debuff. Pet damage and ST damage blasts are icing.

Fully IO'ed up with Hasten running (8 Second Downtime) there is around a 20 Second downtime on Patron Pet/Disruptors, 60 second overlap on Spiderlings, 16 second overlap on Serum. "Blastermind"...

Level 1: Channelgun
Level 1: Crab Spider Armor
Level 2: Longfang
Level 4: Combat Training: Defensive
Level 6: Hurdle
Level 8: Combat Jumping
Level 10: Tactical Training: Maneuvers
Level 12: Venom Grenade
Level 14: Aim
Level 16: Health
Level 18: Frag Grenade
Level 20: Stamina
Level 22: Mental Training
Level 24: Fortification
Level 26: Tactical Training: Assault
Level 28: Serum
Level 30: Tactical Training: Leadership
Level 32: Omega Maneuver
Level 35: Summon Spiderlings
Level 38: Call ReinForcements
Level 41: Electrifying Fences
Level 44: Ball Lightning
Level 47: Summon Striker
Level 49: Hasten

I do agree on the Crab Spider, that was my initial interest but then I got this all VEAT team thing going on Zukunft with which we are talking about doing the LRSF already. Thinking back on all that has interested me in the past ie an all leadership scrapper team etc I see a perfect opportunity. Truth be known I would like 7 types of VEAT (I think they are that good) and I thought my mate who said he wanted 6 was mad!

Having seen the powers, I'm currently planning on going Bane from 24-35, because they look to have the most interesting powers in that level range, then respecing to crab and going pet mad.

Its operative Mist not swift

and your right about banes, ive tried crabs and banes at around the same lvl and i enjoyed the banes so much more, the SMASH feeling you get from the banes is really nice, add the damage they do with the cool costume and its all good

my only complaint is the defence, i have thought about an IO build for him and i could probably get him soft caped in ranged defence but im not to sure about melee & AoE

after 35 lvl's of using him, im impressed

Bolded for emphasis

hearing this banes dont seem so awesome anymore, without a quicker placate they have become weak, they already so less damage then a stalker, have little defence (without ANY defence resistance) no heal, the only thing they have going is passive mez protect with a KB hole

i hope they get a buff in another area otherwise its fortunata's and crabs for me when live hits

Yup. Palcate nerf is a biggie. Buff Wolf Spider Armor to 9% S/L resistance. Increase non suppressing melee and AOE def to Cloaking Device (trying to get a little campaign going here).

Is there a decent planner out for these yet?

Deffo want to do Crab Spider...

When I get to 24 (do I get a freespec?) I can select their powers from level 1? So I can forget all about the blumming crappy Arcanos rifle?

YEY!
