Weakest Combo?
PhiloticKnight/Thread is the weakest combo.

Just for you.
Really WEAK power sets...
* Sonic/Sonic Stalker
* Dual Pillows Brute
* Pool Noodle Scrapper
* Bean Burrito Blaster
* Conscientious Protestor Defender
* Self-Controller
* Masochistic Pain Domination Corrupter
* Fish MasterMind
My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw
perhaps not the worst but i know a kinetics/energy blast defender can be problematic as kinetics likes things tightly grouped and energy blast likes to blow them apart.

So what they say about Aquaman is TRUE!
I'm not sure weakest applies, but how about most awkward?
I would think a Trick Arrow/Electric Defender would be pretty awkward, with all the redraw, and with the love-it-or-be-bored-by-it nature of Electric Blast.
I bet a Gravity/Empathy Controller would be a small slice of hell. Maybe just my own personal hell. I love both sets but they seem like they'd be tedious together.
Probably the last Scrapper I'd ever play would be Martial Arts / Fire. Ugh.
The wacky crap you "have" to do to make a Stone Armor Tanker tolerable (Teleport) combined with how awful (IMO) and slow and underperforming Energy Melee is (IMO) would make me avoid a Stone Armor / Energy Melee tanker like the plague.
I think the most irritating Brute to me would be Dual Blades / Energy Aura. I mean, ugh, having to worry about combos, having a secondary that requires a lot more caution than other sets, and then being invisible all the time so you cant see your blades? Nasty.
For Corruptors, I think Electric/Sonic would be kinda nasty, in part because I hate Electric Blast and in part because it seems like /Sonic would add to it the least. Not sure tho.
For Dominators, I'd pick Gravity/Psi as the worst, just because the control in Gravity comes so late, and because Psi as a secondary isnt quite worth the effort any more. There are individual sets that are better at BOTH single target and area damage. Plus, Drain Psyche is probably less useful to Grav/Psi than Power Boost or Build Up would be. It just seems awkward.
For Masterminds, I dont think there are any bad combos, but Ninja/Poison would be my least favorite, just because the Ninjas dont hold up to damage well, and Poison only has the single target heal, with little else to protect them.
I dont like Blasters, Stalkers, or the VEATs enough to even play them, really, much less recommend a worst.

This except for defenders. I finally got mine to 50 a little while back but I had to team. That toon was one of the hardest toons I ever solo'd on. Only reason why I stuck it out is because I liked his concept.

Oh God, I've done this. Pre-Oil Slick Arrow, it [u]hurts[u]. Bad. That said, on teams, it's very fun and has obscene amounts of control, so I don't think I'd really call it weak, just... situational.

It's actually not that weak or even slow. Mesmerize -> Dominate -> Levitate is pretty early attack chain. Throw in some Confuse for some unwilling allies and you fly through missions pretty quickly. Just slot mesmerize and dominate for damage (easy to do that with IOs) and you do fine.
At some higher levels you can do stuff like Repulsion Bomb -> Terrorize and pretty much get a jump start on any group. Even bosses are no problem if you take either TK or the AoE hold since you can stack holds really easily.
To top of it, you also have dispersion bubble, so you have mez protection to most things as well too.
With that said, while I wouldn't consider it weak, it probably is in the weaker part of the spectrum of what solo controllers can do.
EDIT: if you want a challenge, go ice/emp solo.

I did this Pre Issue 6 and it was so slow... and so tedious I actually deleted it when it was level 41. It was my first character... and it was PAINFUL.

Hey, Mind Control is a very powerful solo set actually. Slot Dominate, Mesmerize and Levitate for damage and you will be suprised at just how effective it is, irregardless of secondary.
The weakest combo solo would probably have to be either an empath or forcefield defender with a not so good secondary.
On this line of thought, you are welcome to try out my arc - I'm sure with this kind of outlook you will find it really fun.

I'm not sure about challenge. Controllers aren't really challenging since the control can easily eliminate the worst enemies have to offer. Definitely slow and tedious though, especially if you slot your powers for hold duration and not damage.

I played a mind controller, mind/empathy during issue 4. And I didn't think it was that bad. Back then, controllers didn't even have containment, though admittedly being able to six slot things (this was pre-ED) makes it hard to compare.

I'm talking about solo leveling speed. Yeah, it's not a challenge (as in difficulty) since ice can lock down just about anything fast. And if they're not locked down, they're at the -rech and -movement caps.
With that said, it's rough when block of ice, chillblain and brawl is your attack chain.

[/ QUOTE ]i have an ice/storm and feel your pain. it makes up for it on a team as he is pretty much king of the world then. Its not hard, per se, in fact its pretty easy because the two have great control options, but any kind of leveling speed? that princess is in another castle.
So then you're all basically saying the IS no weak combo, just slow ones? That's not what I wanted to hear. I wanted WEAK.
Stone/Ice tanker in Granite soloing Invincible missions?
Me playing a blaster?
A PuG of noobs doing the Cavern of Transcendence?

Define weak then. Someone mentioned Grav/Psi Dominators. I have one. I ghave a hard time palying him. Nto because he is weak per se but he adds nothing to a team and doesn't really solo with any speed. I've not tried him with the recent dom changes though. Last time I played him he was REALLY good at juggling an enemy. Lift- propel- tpfoe- mind probe- tk thrust- crush- lift rinse repeat. It was funny for a while but not really the most effective thing in a team situation.
I have a Mastermind with no summon powers at level 33 and faceplanting its way to glory! Pistols/Poison with a secondary focus on pool/epic melee FTW. Fun to play, though!
So I've heard talk about this set being the "best" (Rad/Sonic Defender) or that set being the "best" (Fire/Kin) for years now.
I don't want the best, I'm looking for a CHALLENGE. So, denizens of the CoH community, what set is the WORST?
Any opinions will be considered, but I'm hoping for some sort of general consensus on the bottom 5 at least.
I am aware that the terms best and worst are entirely subjective, but let's try shall we?
