  1. In Brightest Day...

Better than the Entertainment Tonight teaser, at any rate.

Yes! I love it. Is he a Bots MM? I had Torgo and Prince of Space running (well, hobbling and skipping, anyway) around for a while.
  3. They're adding a lot of quality of life stuff that people have asked for for a *long* time. I'm in full "OMG! Can't wait!" mode now.

    Test server

OK, I figured out my issue. The download was cutting off early, but not telling me anything had gone wrong, so I had a .dmg file that *looked* totally fine, but was actually missing most of the data. Keep an eye on your download progress if you're using this ftp://client.coh.com/Test/US/ site.

    Test server

I'm not even getting as far as PC_guy. I can download the .dmg for the test server client, but when I try to open it, I get a little dialog box that says that this disk image can't be opened because it isn't recognized. I vaguely remember having this issue when I first installed the regular client on my Mac, but I can't remember how it was fixed. This is in Snow Leopard, by the way.

    So Just an Idea

I think it's a fabulous idea, but the Screenshot and Fan Art folks beat you to it. The Costume (Re-)Design Thread.

Conjecture? Or does it fit to well since we havent seen anything about that universe's Recluse.
Right now our best guess is that their Recluse is dead, killed by Cole after they found the Well of the Furies. Also, "Hamidon" isn't just a made-up name for the big scary monster, it's the name of the scientist who turned into the big scary monster, Hamidon Pasalima.

Yep. My city has streets called King's Row and Skyway. The worst "reminding" I've had was reflexively letting off the gas and leaning back while driving into a tunnel. I later realized I did it because I was waiting for the loading screen to come up while I switched zones.
  9. Poison Queen, my thugs/poison hitwoman.

Question to Manti from the Echelon Forums:

"There seems to be alot of zones that have slang names now such as Hollows (Eastgate) but the only zones that must of been renamed are those two (Galaxy City and Atlas Park) due to the sacrifice of heroes."

In other words, what we want to know is: What were the name of these two (and any other zones/areas named after heroes) called before?
Galaxy City used to be Paragon Heights, according to it's Wiki page.
  12. There's a bunch of reasons. A lot of the names and concepts I like don't work for guys. Females make for more interesting and varied RP. All my male characters end up just being me when I RP them, while the girls have more distinct personalities. And, most importantly, female characters have far better costume options, and so make better subjects for artz.
  13. They're all regular, non-static SGs with plenty of activity. More at peak hours, obviously, but there's almost always a team's worth of folks on at bare minimum, unless you're on at *really* odd times, like 3am in the states. They all have some form of application/interview process, mostly just to make sure you fit the theme, and you're not trying to get someone like Lobo or the Punisher into the SG.

Just still curious if and where the other silver age folks might be hangin'.
There's plenty of classic superheroes running around. You might run into some of them at the D, but a lot of the RP that doesn't involve waking up with hazy and vaguely shameful memories of what happened with that catgirl last night happens in RP SGs.

Left a comment on DA, but it bears repeating. I love it! Thanks Foo, and thanks Caemgen for putting on the contest in the first place.
  16. Man, that's nice! I agree, the bolero looks really good.
  17. I've got a couple of questions concerning the Carnival of Shadows.

    1. Vanessa/Giovanna's mask is a 300 year old relic. Are the masks worn by the street-level Carnies similar antiques? Modern Carneval masks? Are they mass-produced? Do the rank-and-file Carnies need their masks for DeVore to control them, or is it just a stylistic choice, and something she could do through any object?

    2. What happens if the Circle of Thorns try to possess a Carnie's body?
  18. Most of mine will stay put, or just go a notch or two more "grey" (I have some "not so bad" villains and a pretty nasty vigilante hero). Like everyone else on the face of the planet, I'm going to make a Dual Pistols character, probably a blaster.
I will switch a couple of folks to the other side. My heroside badger will go get all the shinies Praetoria and the Isles have to offer, and my crazy gadget girl bots/traps MM will go heroside, where she belongs.
  19. Here's my Carnival girl, the Florentine Fencer. With the right makeup, the Supernatural 4 face makes for an OK Carnie mask, if you don't mind the chalk-white skin.

    Character Bios

Most of my characters, say 75%, have a bio of some kind, and those that don't still have a story, I'm just really bad about going back and adding in a bio if I don't write it up at creation. I also try to aim for contacts and missions that fit that particular character.

I haven't had a good bio save a character I dislike playing, though. If I like a character but don't like actually playing them, they usually get rerolled until I find something I enjoy. I have had the opposite happen, where a character with a "meh" bio was so much fun to play that they stuck around until I came up with a story for them that really fit.
  21. I agree with what some of the other posters have said. If Nemesis can make a steam-driven assault rifle that performs as well as or better than "modern" weapons, and a Thugs MM can use "Empty Clips" with the existing Flintlock model, than a flintlock or percussion cap pistol should be a viable option for DP.

Anyway, here's another real-world gun that would be a good fit for steampunk characters, the Smith and Wesson "Volcanic" Pistol.
  22. I've got two time travelers.

Aerial Avenger, a WWII heroine who was sent to stop Wolfgang Ubelmann's time-traveling experiments, and was knocked through the prototype portal during the fight. She took great joy in beating him into a pulp in the "Ubelmann the Unknown" arc. She's a Eng/Eng blaster.

Timestepper, a steampunk version of Dr. Egon/Aeon/Echo from one of the alternate Nemesis-controlled dimensions. Was sent here to look for allies for overthowing their Nemesis, but found that the opportunities for easy money and SCIENCE! in our Rogue Isles were just too good to pass up. DB/SR Brute with Teleport, RPd as not actually having great reflexes, but being slightly out-of-sync with our timeline, so that enemies are simply moving too slowly to land a hit.

Well, I've heard some things. Mostly rumors. I can't say I care much one way or the other, but there *is* one that interests me. There are whispers that one of their Resistance leaders, she's a version of Belladonna Vetrano, but, you know, still *alive*. Now, if that little tidbit is true, Praetoria becomes much more interesting. Perhaps this... alternate could provide there's a way to return our dear mistress to life, one that our oh-so-beloved Recluse and his whipping boy Daos would be unable to interfere with. Yes, I think Praetoria will have its uses when the time comes. Oh, and if you think you're printing any of this, you won't leave this room alive.

    Spy Spider, Night Widow.

I like what I've heard. Rulin' by force, might makes right, all that. Learned that one the hard way. You gotta fight for anything and everything in this world, even the smallest scraps. If Cole got himself to the top of the heap, he's doin' something right. I don't know if I'd bother to go there. I've got things to do here. I'm gonna be someone special, just you watch. All those Destined Ones, carryin' around their gadgets and magical bits, all that power, just waitin' for someone better to take it. Like me.

Savage Scavenger, BA/WP Brute and Mercy street-rat turned supervillain.
At this point, she started grinning and sharpening an axe. I felt it was time to go.

Cole is a Fascist pig. The people of Praetoria have been under his heel for too long, and they need only a spark for the whole place to go up in flames. The resistance, they are true heroes of the people. It will take only a little push to make a resistance into a revolution, and I should like to help make that happen. To be there when Cole falls, comrade, that would be something special.

    Soviet Snow, Ice/Ice Blaster

Praetoria's a most intriguing place. This world is so factionalized, so splintered. It takes a great threat to unite people for even the briefest of moments, and when it passes, you return to your squabbling, ignoring the truly great things that could be accomplished if we were united under one banner.

*Click* *Whirr* Did you see the game last night?

    Sky Scout, AR/Dev Blaster
  24. I agree with the above posts. She'll figure out movement quickly enough, don't worry about it too much. I do have one specific bit of advice. If you're playing redside at all, suggest she roll up a stalker.

The second character I ever made (and first villain) was a stalker. I had no idea at all what I was doing, and her build eventually got so screwed up I chose to re-roll her rather than try and respec that rat's nest of bad choices, but having Hide, and being able to run around (and learn *how* to run around), take in the sights, listen to dialogue and just generally enjoy and learn the game without worrying about a bunch of purple-cons beating me into the ground because I ran around the wrong corner was a great experience.

That toon taught me more about the game than anything else. Things like "take Stamina" and "Council bases have jails" came later, and that's stuff she can figure out on her own, or get from you without it seeming like a lecture.
