Considering a transfer to Virtue...

So I've got a bunch of redsiders already here on Virtue. But my first and second homes were on Triumph and Protector. The prior home of my classic silver age characters and the latter my home for superspies and Victorian pulp themesters.

I RP. I don't consider myself hardcore. But others sometimes call me out as such because I tend to get deep into character. I RP contextually, as I play the game, but don't really engage in story driven RP sessions or forum RP (either here or on dedicated forums). I guess I just prefer improv over script. Oh, and though I get a kick out of in-character flirtations and quips, ERP is a no starter for me at this stage in my life.

I also badge (chronically?), sometimes turn XP off for arcs or merits or just to fill a few contacts JUST because, am not entirely focused on getting every character to 50, concept build and don't take stamina on about 40%-50% of my characters, though I still do enjoy the challenge of an occasional speed TF run (which I do stay in character through because I just do). IRL, I'm in my mid 30's (don't say late. not yet) and due to professional and other responsibilities have a highly variable play schedule from hardly at all on some weeks to indulgent midday binges to the occasional "on every night from 7-10pm est week."

Aside from S.C.O.R.P.I.O. as a potential new home for my C.O.V.E.R.T. superspy agents (S.C.O.R.P.I.O. is still active, yes?), are there any fairly active and well populated silver age blueside SGs? I really want to feel this out before sacrificing several bases and SGs worth many millions of prestige each not to mention hours spent laboring on those, including one with a neat bug that has us in possession of three or four redside zone beacon badges (though we could never place the beacons). Likewise, I realize I may be losing the names for some of my nearest dearest and oldest characters. But most of my longtime RP mates from the small pockets of good RP I knew have left game over the years. A few have moved servers as their rosters filled and interests migrated. So I'm really missing out on the social aspect of this game currently as I tend to enjoy it.

In summary, heroic citizens of Virtue, what say you? Might I find what I'm looking for here? Would a transfer be worth giving up what I would on my other servers?

For now, I've decided to take a villain or two to Pocket D just to socialize a little. Unfortunately, my villains are all maladjusted in one direction or another while my heroes, though each uniquely flawed, tend to be much more social. So I may ultimately bring one of my "friendlies" over.

Just still curious if and where the other silver age folks might be hangin'.

Well there's your problem.

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

My advice, don't do it.

Started off similiar for me too. I mostly played on Infinity, but had a few characters on Virtue since a few friends played here. Then I started spending more time around the good people of Virtue, learning thier ways. I spent hours on costumes, character concepts, backstories, and even dabbled in RP. No big deal, right? That's what they all say...

Pretty soon you're hooked. You could play on other servers, but let's face it, they're just not virtue.

There's plenty of classic superheroes running around. You might run into some of them at the D, but a lot of the RP that doesn't involve waking up with hazy and vaguely shameful memories of what happened with that catgirl last night happens in RP SGs.

/shameless plug

If you're looking for a possible home for your tights-and-justice types, might I recommend one of these fine groups?

Golden Age Heroes
All Star Teen Sentinels
United Sentinels of America
Guardians of the Golden Age

/end shameless plug

Heh. Cute. I see what you did there.

I actually appreciate the shameless plug. This is why I made a post here. I'm trying to gauge the current energy level I might find for my style of RP. If I may ask, what is the activity level in warm bodies at any given hour (all the groups I was involved with are down to just me and the occasional rotating vet for a 1 month re-up every 3 months or so )? Are these static teams (which I don't mesh well with due to a shifting schedule) or more of an open set up with rolling SG pick ups?

As far as the going to pocket D, don't worry, you won't find me doing the logout of shame. I was going there more because it is the holidays and we've got coop missions of all levels. But like I said, rather than the catgirls, my big problem is I let my characters write themselves and my villains all have antisocial streaks and are starkly different from the heroes I'd consider transferring.

Also, another ping to any members of S.C.O.R.P.I.O. reading. Are you guys still out there and active? I've got 4 all natural super spies I might be moving.

And in addition to the silver age and super spies, I have a couple pulp era heroes, so if anyone reading has some right retro rocketeering RP going on, please speak up. May be looking for a home for them too.

They're all regular, non-static SGs with plenty of activity. More at peak hours, obviously, but there's almost always a team's worth of folks on at bare minimum, unless you're on at *really* odd times, like 3am in the states. They all have some form of application/interview process, mostly just to make sure you fit the theme, and you're not trying to get someone like Lobo or the Punisher into the SG.

Thanks for responding.

And I saw that about the applications on a couple of the sites.

Most of my characters are bright and sunny and solidly in the SA or maybe late GA heroic tradition. But I have one currently named Ashen Princess, who's costumes look a bit like early takes on the Scarlet Witch plus flaming eyes. She's half daemon, works days as Lawyer specializing in Transdimensional Immigration and Existential Law. I know there are tons of daemon type groups out there, but IMO she's an SA take on this stereotype of a cold human struggling with a wicked half. Her character gets a boost from being cast as a troubled entry in the classic spandex setting. But she is by no means and has never been played as a murderous diamond age character. In your personal estimation, is there room within any of these groups for that sort of character? I'd just hate to move her, give up the name and end up being told, "No. Demon freaks play over there, lady."

Of my "original 7"--all created in the first three months CoH went live--I'll be losing 4 names. (Surprised that I'd actually keep 3 even though.) At the moment that's actually my biggest concern: jumping, surrendering names and then not finding a fitting home. 1 of the 4 I'll lose could be renamed quite easily. But Ashen Princess, Amethyst Avenger and Subatomic are all gonna sting mighty awful to let go. Those names have been pretty integral to my CoH experience for 5 years now. But as it stands, I really do miss playing on teams that play in character. Just not easy to find on Triumph any more. Some good folks there but not much RP these days.
