Full Green Lantern trailer up!

Definitely looks better than the ET preview, but then again, just about anything would.

Some of the effects still look a bit off, and just that little bit of dialogue from Blake Lively made me think she wasn't the right fit for Carol even more, if that was possible. Also, it looks like they aren't exactly making Hal fearless from the get-go, so let's hope they didn't give themselves just another issue to overcome.

I'm... not sure I like the director. Something about the shots seems off. Also, it concerns me that there's only one shot of Hal creating something.

If I were in charge of this, I would have leaned hard on the "imagine that you're the hero" aspect of all comic books. Would have spent the whole trailer showing off how powerful Hal's ring, in particular, is.

Still, I'm interested.

In this regard, the problem is that Hal really doesn't create a lot of constructs when compared to Kyle or John. Hal just tends to shoot beams and do the occasional fist or jet.

Let's hope that the story is good and that will get us past some of the subpar effects, then when the sequel comes they'll give it the budget it needs to smooth it all out and take it all to another level.

Then I'd rewrite that part of Hal. Heck, Bruce Wayne was rewritten a lot for Dark Knight, and look what happened there.

Well then you can understand why a lot of folks would have preferred Kyle or having the films trade off between the human GLs.

I don't know much about Green Lantern, but yes I can definitely see that.

I liked it.

I especially liked that they kept in how Green Lanterns have to overcome fear and they aren't shying away from showing the entire Lantern Corps.

"The one thing that a Green Lantern is supposed to be is fearless, that isn't me."
"You have the ability to overcome fear."

Hal Jordan all the way. Except for that Parallax nonsense. Maybe we can skip that part, no?

Some of the graphics, like Abin Sur, give me Wolverine shivers. Almost Roger Rabbity. But I will be seeing this!

Parallax is supposed to be the main villain for this one.

I thought it was Hector Hammond, with Parallax in the sequel.

Well the official synopsis that was released a while back implied that Parallax was the big bad in this one.

*EDIT*

This is the synopsis on the official site:

Quote:
In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan. Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax...he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Not a fan of the costume.

Really? I remember Hal doing tons of creation of items with the ring back in the 70's and 80's. Pity if they changed that.

Still not a fan of those effects. Or some of the dialogue that, let's face it, looks better on the page than sounds on the screen ("You have the ability to overcome fear"? I snorted). Or the actress playing Carol. Or the costume. Or...

I'll still see it cuz I'm a superhero fiend but I'm not expecting all that much.

P.S.- My personal pet peeve rears its voice again: can we please get a moratorium on the choral coundtracks to the trailers, please? They all sound exactly a-freaking-like.

They did, unfortunately. Specifically Geoff ""RetKHAAAAAAAAAAAN" Johns. Hal used to do all kinds of things with his ring back when I read it more often during Gerard Jones' run than he does now. Or did before I stopped reading it.

Ok, cool. For some odd reason I thought it was going to be Hector Hammond as the villain for the first one, and if a sequel was cleared it was going to be Sinestro and Parallax for the 2nd one. Anyways trailer has me more interested then excited for the movie.

If they do the movies in a set of 3 it will probably flow as follows.

Movie #1 = Hector Hammond
Movie #2 = Sinestro
Movie #3 = Parallex

With Parallex being inside of Sinestro since I doubt they will go the Emerald Twilight route with the story. Even if it wasn't a widely unpopular story arc (I personally liked it), too many non-comic readers would compare the story to Revenge of the Sith.

I am sure Hammond is the baddie in this film, but with Parallax manipulating him. You have P be the outer space threat and Double H as the Earth-born threat.

I think the reason Hal is shown in the trailer as not being fearless is because they're going to play up to the yellow impurity as being tied to Parallax. They're going to show that the rings go after people who are fearless, but that leaves them susceptible to yellow, so Hal has to face his fear and overcome it to beat the yellow and Parallax.
