Well they're supposed to be basing it on the Secret Origins arc, so Hammond could be the baddie until Sinestro comes and helps Hal take him down.

Costume looks good, effects look okay, Hal seems a bit more wiseass than cocky but minor alterations in the character are to be expected. this has some potential. i know ill be getting a couple of tickets at least.

Watched it in full screen HD. The mask/eyes is the one thing that looks the most messed up. Outside of that though, the effects look decent enough. Some of the cast is likely a little too C level *cough*Blake*cough*, but let's hope they aren't given too much screen time.

Still not wild about the suit.

There are a couple of things i'm not sure what i'm looking at in the trailer;
First off, Abin Sur's ship is wild, that is one great Alien-looking ship design!.

At 1:08-1:09 I'm looking along the hull of something.... what is it?

At 1:14-1:15 there is a gyroscopic ball of what looks like glass and it transfers Abin Sur into the ship via GL power... is that right?.

At 1:20-1:23 this same capsule shoots up an octagonal-walled spiked pylon and breaks through the end cap breaking it off and shooting into the air like some kind of escape pod?

I liked the trailer. I am looking forward to seeing the movie next summer.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

Good lord, the movie's version of the costume looks like the art director colored in an anatomical drawing of the human musculatory system. I know Hal Jordan's GL uniform in the comics is the typical skin-tight leotard, but that's taking the adaptation one step further.

I'm still waiting for a preview of this movie that will generate the same excitement and anticipation as the fan-made one with Nathan Fillion.

Ugh, not crazy about the costume. I'd also at least like to see a white eyed domino mask look, as the pupils with the mask just look... weird. Maybe it's the black masks in the Batman movies that allow it to work. *shrug*

As far as constructs, this -is- the first trailer, and the movie is still almost a year off. They're probably still in the process of doing most of the CGI for the ring energy.

Constructs are also something he'd have to learn how to control, so being able to do a lot of them right off the bat wouldn't make a lot of sense. They didn't show much of Oa, and that's where you'd see more constructs being made.

Everything looks fine to me so far. I'll still be watching this the first day.

Let's hope that the story is good and that will get us past some of the subpar effects, then when the sequel comes they'll give it the budget it needs to smooth it all out and take it all to another level.
In GL Rebirth, Geoff Johns showed how each of the GL's used their rings when they all teamed with Hal to send Parallax back into the Central Power Battery on Oa.

John as an architect sees every detail, every nut and bolt of his constructs.

Kyle as an artist is constantly refining his constructs as he uses them.

Kilowog is one of the few GL's whose ring makes a sound like a cannon when it's used to blast at a foe. A sign of his strength of will.

Guy's ring is always sparking with barely restrained will power plus Guy's legendary rage.

Hal prefers the simple and direct approach to take down his foes.

I suspect the movie will stick with that philosophy for Hal and hopefully show other Lantern's using their rings more creatively.

In the end though, whether its a boxing glove or a spiked gauntlet, it is the will power of the ring user that counts for how hard its going to hit.

Yeah, the mask is something else I was wondering about. In the Entertainment Weekly cover where we got our earliest look at the suit, they seemed to have whited out the eyes, and I actually thought that would be cool to finally see in a superhero movie. After all, the suit and mask are basically constructs created by Hal's mind and will, so it makes sense that he'd be able to do stuff with it that Batman realistically couldn't in his movies. But now it looks like they're flip-flopping on whether to blank out the eyes or not.

I do actually like the over all look of the final suit design, and the better resolution makes the mask look much more "real" than the feeling that it was painted on I got from the Entertainment Tonight clip.

Hmm. If I weren't a GL fan before hand I may well have skipped this one. That trailer failed to impress me. However as I'm a sucker for comic book movies, I will see it nonetheless.

Too many alts to list.

I think what they should have done is put an actual mask on Reynolds even if they were going to CG the whole suit, cuz if you looked at the QuickTime version of this in HD and went frame by frame, you can really notice the shoddy work on the mask.

I was about to say. I very specifically remember Hal even constructing missiles with billowing green trails rather than simply shooting beams at stuff. That said, Kyle's always been way over the top with his constructs, often bordering on retarded. But then again, there's only one true GL and it's neither of the above.

Broody and detached...*looks at my 20 years of Batman comics* Yeah rewrote... read Batman: Year One?

Look Ryan Reynolds is acting like a cocky Kyle Ryner not Hal Jordan. Not too excited about this movie after seeing the preview. Going to be as I have said for awhile here on the boards. Another DC failure.

Yeah, they really ought to give G'nort his own movie.

I dare this movie to have the cojones to give him his original nickname. I dare it.

For those of us who missed the GL train, care to tell us what that might be?

As far as this trailer is concerned, right now it looks a lot like the first Fantastic Four film. That's not so good. However, FF2 was a vast improvement and handled both the characters and cosmic story quite adroitly, so if they can land in that arena with GL then it might not be too hateful to sit through.
