What do you think is the best 8 man team for PvE
8 of Anything/Anything Anything, to be honest.
A well played 8 man team will demolish pretty much everything in the game.
You want to talk "best"? Load up on buffs/debuffs. Solid control too. Me, I'd go 1-2 kins and 6-7 sets with at least 22% Resistance debuff. The rest is details.
No "best" team would have two tanks, that's for sure. I wouldn't even have one on my "best" team.
Good memories running with Tribal and Company.
Team Teleporting, AMing, and Blasting.
How many did it take to take us down in Recluse?
Some not so die hard players still hit the big 50 in short period of time.

8 people that get along with eachother. If they can't work together they are doomed to fail. AT's are irrelevant.

Yeah, it's definitely more about people being on the same page (playing well together) than which combo of ATs you have.

This.
And what Prof Backfire said. I've heard tales of an 8-man Kin team that's just... WOW/sick/Devastating/*your uberword here*
8 Controllers, 8 Defenders, or 4 of each.
Nothing moves, everything dies.
Make a man a fire and keep him warm for the day, SET a man on fire and keep him warm for the rest of his life.
Incarnates: K'lir(Fire/Dark Corr):Hot-House Flower(Plant/Fire Dom):Kinrad X(Kin/Rad Def):Itsy-Bitsy Spider(Crab):Two Ton Tony(Mace/WP Broot):Teeny Weeny Widow(Fortunata/Widow) : Zeroth Law (Ice/Fire Tank)
I think 8 Kins would be overkill. 2 Fulcrum Shifts are usually enough to cap +Damage and you'd be maxed out on recharge after 6 SBs stacked. Would still be a lot of fun.
8 Rads, however... Pure awesome.

I'm a big Kin fan, but I believe TopDoc once posted numbers to show how game-breaking a team of 8 Fire/Rad controllers are when he was putting together one of his super teams. Taking away one of them and putting in a Kin only dropped the numbers. Basically you cap damage, ToHit, and recharge with 8 stacked AMs. The team runs Hotfeet and Choking Cloud. You team teleport into spawns and everything is held in a couple of seconds and then melts. The process gets a little faster once you add 24 Fire Imps but it's brutal even before then.
Freedom: Blazing Larb, Fiery Fulcrum, Sardan Reborn, Arctic-Frenzy, Wasabi Sam, Mr Smashtastic.

We proved this last night

That was at level 20...
Edit: To clarify, this is a team of 8 fire/radiation controllers.
Red Side?
8 Masterminds.
That's basically the game turned into mush.
An all defender team. Those are the best teams ever if there is a good mix of defenders on it.

You beat me to it. I was just about to say 8 MMs all with varying powersets to complement the rest of the party. However 8 FF mms would be pretty snazzy, I don't think anyone would take any damage at all.

Amen. Load up on Fire/rad trollers and corruptors and call it a day.
Words to the wise aren't necessary- it's the stupid ones that need them.
"You're right...I forgot...being constantly at or the near the damage cap is a big turn off. Definitely not worth it."

Eight /FFs would be overkill as well, at least as far as defense goes. I think 2 maybe 3 FF is enough to cap defense on their own.
Plus FF doesn't provide any extra damage through buffs or debuffs, just defense.
Basically, to the OP, there are a lot of ways to "Break the game". TopDoc's superteams do it very easily.
With eight semicompetent players it's difficult to NOT have a team that rampages through content.
The best team I've ever been on regularly- and it wasn't a Superteam as per TopDoc- was Noise Complaint. (Viva Las Vegas is our SG and we do "theme" groups sometimes. Right now we've got Viva Defiance!)
It went something like this:
Ice/Axe tank, me- forward observer. I would sort of lunge at a group of enemies and the artillery would come down on it. Running Assault.
Sonic/Archery defender - running Assault, keeping the Hula Hoops of Death on me (Sonic Dispersion? I don't remember what the power was called) and the Resistance Rings on the whole team.
Emp/Sonic defender. Ideally keeping Fortitude on me and touching up people's HP, but mostly throwing Sonic Blasts. Sonic/Electric blaster, running [say it with me!] Assault.
Sonic/Energy blaster with Tactics.
Broadword/Regen running Assault.
Warshade with Assault.
Katana/??? scrapper
The goal was "lots of Assault, lots of Sonic blasts, lots of damage in a really short period of time."
When all eight of us showed up, we were dropping Archvillains in thirty seconds. Repeatably.
Yeah, we would have done even better with a Rad or a Kin on the team, but even without those two "I Win" buttons, we won.
I'll let you know in a couple of weeks how "four blasters, a tank, a peacebringer and a scrapper" does. At level 25 it's fast and bloody.
Mini-guides: Force Field Defenders, Blasters, Market Self-Defense, Frankenslotting.
So you think you're a hero, huh.

Too many blasted alts to list, but all on Virtue.
I'm guessing you like playing Masterminds and Illusion/Storm controllers, Zhao. Otherwise I'm not sure how you'd fill spots 2-8.
I team with the Repeat Offenders.
I dont know about best, but 8 storm defenders with active hurricanes and spawning tornadoes in the the middle of an ITF would be fun to watch.
Played on an all-defender team, it was great. Played on an all KIN team, it was even more great. We did the STF with that, it was freaking awesome. In fact I think we had some video somewhere of it. Speed boost ahoy, buffing took a while but it was just insane.
Please read my FEAR/Portal/HalfLife Fan Fiction!

With eight people, it's hard to go wrong. Even eight tankers with endurance problems usually mow through missions with no issue, unless all eight of them have borked their build.
So really, just about any combination is good.
The one that I have found is hard, is four trollers, with four other people who are dishing out the knockback. Trollers are more powerful when the groups aren't scattered (For the most part.) All that knockback can seriously drop the damage being put into mobs.
I want to know what everyone thinks would be the best 8 man team build (for either side) that can basically run from lvl 1 to lvl 50 and beyond with ease. Here's a team I've had a lot of success with
1. Stone/ SS Tank
2. Willpower/ Dual Blades Tank
3. Empathy/ Archery Defender
4. Fire/ Kinetic Controller
5. Archery/ Mental Blaster
6. Spines/ Fire Scrapper
7. Fire/ Energy Blaster
8. Radiation/ Radiation Defender
