I see the badge complaint a lot but don't quite understand it. From my understanding there's already choices in game that lock you out of certain badges but it goes beyond this. They said that you can go from hero to villain to back to hero again if you want. What this means is that you can get all the hero based badges, become a villain, and then start getting villain badges which potentially allows you to get far more badges than normal.
Now.. if you can choose to be a Exemplary Hero instead you miss possibly one badge while having access to much more. As I said before. There's already choices that lock you out of certain badges. So if you're a badge collector the obvious choice is to go to the other side and have access to a plethora of other badges. You missed one on hero side? Switch back over and get it.
Or is there something I'm missing?

You have it right actually. The devs have even said that there is nothing now preventing a hero/villain from obtaining the other sides badges except the inability to access the requirements for said badges. For example heroes could not get the longbow defeat badge until missions in the RWZ allowed heroes to fight them.

[/ QUOTE ]Well, there are things preventing people from gaining other-side badges, as proven by the devs preventing Heroes from getting Reformed, before reversing the change.
Also, before RWZ, Heroes could get Reformed by having a Villain confuse them in Siren's Call and then killing Longbow.

I remember that and what I said still holds true, the heroes could still get it, but had to have access to defeating the longbow. Being confused created the accessibility. I guess all I'm saying is that the badge issue for switching sides really isn't an issue at all.

My immediate concern has nothing to do with mixing AT's. A fair amount of recent content has involved co-op, and it hasn't lessened the roles of AT's. Honestly, at level 50, a full team of most any combinations can accomplish most anything in the game.
My issue is that switching sides does absolutely nothing to fix the glaring disparities in the sides of the game. When CoV was released many* blue side players were unwilling to make a permanent switch from the toons/groups they had cultivated over the first 2 years of the game. CoV is also a far inferior game in terms of content and space. There simply isn't that much to do other than level. Sure, you could take your tanker over to redside if you wish there was a worse market, fewer people (already) to team with, and less to do.
Previously in order for the long time hero players to access the AT's in CoV they had to play redside. As the game gets older and more balanced even that is less enticing. When CoV released most of the AT's were direct ports from the boards.
Anybody remember when blasters wanted to be deleted because their secondary sets were so horrible? They wanted buffs ala defenders? Enter the corrupter! Nowadays though, blasters aren't that terrible, and they've certainly got a place in high damage groups.
Remember when pets got the nerf? Controllers wanted to be proper pet classes? There's your MM >shrug< in the meantime trollers have quietly become overly awesome.
They seem to be dismantling the desire to play redside at all. I certainly can't see an exodus from CoH over to CoV. I can, however, see many CoV toons making the switch over to CoH. Blue side is simply a better developed and obviously more complete game, hence the disparity in population. I understand the lack of CoV specific development and still disagree with it.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, you're suggesting this will cause some sort of mass exodus from CoV as everyone rolls ATs just to play the ATs (not to actually play a bad guy or good guy) and having a better market and more zones would draw them all over to blueside?
I have to admit that is a grim prospect for the redside of the game, but I doubt it is as likely to happen as you think.
Been away a couple days and just heard of the expansion. I have to say that, even for these forums, it seems excessively early for DOOOOM queries.
Chill.

lots of questions. where to begin?
Can my brute join my hero sg, access things in the base and earn prestige?
Will heroes be able to trade with vills now?
Will dueling in any city zone be possible?
Will MM bots FINALLY not get hung up on their own drones?
funfunfun!
Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.

But now a rampaging Brute all buffed up and crazy blueside? I shudder to think what will happen to the Scrapper population.
[/ QUOTE ]
Scrappers are better sustained DPS than Brutes. Brutes can push higher than Scrappers, but keeping their DPS that high is conditional. Scrappers start out higher from the get-go, and have the added advantage of DPS "bursts" from crits. And they don't have to rebuild fury if they get held.
Sure, Brutes have advantage over Scrappers, but the inverse is true as well.

Except for the possibility of multiple side switching (which I doubt will be possible) I don't think so. The markets will not be merged, however a neutral market may be introduced.

...That's *not* stoked about Going Rogue? For me, I see less pros and more cons. Like, if defenders make their way to villains, corruptors will most likely be ignored. People will prefer Tankers to Brutes. Am I just being overly-negative?
[/ QUOTE ]
My biggest fear is that I'll hear non-stop about morons who can't wait to go rouge.
I am so looking forward to this. I have a stalker on the Red Side that I think is a fun powerset. I also like my Corruptor. What I dislike are the missions. I'm just not good at being bad. I feel horrible about kidnapping people or blowing them up in some sick experiment. I had a couple of bad side characters because my friends played there, but I really really disliked it. I simply couldn't read the missions. I didn't want to know what I was doing. I thought that AE was my way out of the missions on Redside. But leveling in them in solo missions is painful and finding full teams I've found difficult. I so wanted to have a concept for my Redside toons as being misunderstood or double agents, but it simply doesn't work. I still feel terrible after doing a couple of missions. I absolutely HATE killing police officers.
I have also never played GTA, and could never bring myself to do it. I can not disengage my moral compass like that. I know that most of my friends think I'm silly and hopeless, I just can't seem to do it without having the intense desire to go shower afterward.

There's nothing wrong with that.
I play on the red side because I like the ATs, not the missions they do. Although, some of the missions are not too bad. Most of the characters I have are blue side though.
There I was between a rock and a hard place. Then I thought, "What am I doing on this side of the rock?"
Just a quick question
But have brutes or defenders been excluded from ITFs or Rikti raids?
You know, people have been able to team up before

I may be odd here, but I find the COV missions/zones/content to be a lot more engaging, varied and entertaining than 90% of the blue side content.
The arcs are tighter, a lot less fed ex and hunt missions and you dont have to go to a different zone for every mission.

This, in spades. I love how my corruptor works.
The missions? Bleh. I stick to papers and mayhems with him. And I'm selective about the paper missions
As soon as he gets high enough he's moving to the RWZ and staying there.
Not excited about it. I get the idea. I see how it's cool for a lot of players. But for me? Well, I don't have all that much interest in the whole switching sides idea.
I know how shouty the responses will get but if they're going to do this, just open all the zones up to all ATs, merge the markets and make it like comic books where villains and heroes live in the same places, buy stuff at the same stores and fight on the streets.
Give the non PvPers the nice little no PvP option like some MMOs.
Packaging it with two new fictional characters that have rather cliche names and backstories and making people pay for it doesn't do it for me.

Personly I hope they take there sweet time with it, I hope my current

You should probably cancel your account now, that way you'll be sure you won't have to see it when it does come around. And if your pre-paid time does bleed into what you're so against, simply stop playing, your account will already be canceled and you won't have to worry about it.

Now that is hilarious. In another thread, a guy was saying exactly the contrary! He said Defenders suck and would not be wanted anymore. He also said that Brutes are better than Scrappers and Tankers.
Go figure...
I think you guys are scared for no reason. Every ATs will keep getting played like they always have. There is always someone willing to play some AT. You guys got to understand that there are people that plays combos you would not like to play and the reverse is true.
Just wait and see what happens. You'll be surprised how things turns out.
I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

[ QUOTE ]
I personally think, by the way it was all worded in the release, that "switch-over" toons will not actually exist in the blue side or the red side zones. I think they will exist in the alternate reality zones. Which will make the "having to team with someone from the opposite faction" argument a not factor. Hero's won't have to side with villains and vice versa. I think once you switch sides you'll be "transported" to the alternate dimension.
[/ QUOTE ]
If that is the case then it will probably suck. What? Just another cooperative zone basically? Not interested in that. What i want is my freekin Mastermind to come in Atlas Park and undertake the real old hero contact missions. I want to do the standard hero story arcs and get all the souvenirs.
