I have also never played GTA, and could never bring myself to do it. I can not disengage my moral compass like that. I know that most of my friends think I'm silly and hopeless, I just can't seem to do it without having the intense desire to go shower afterward.

Just so you know, you can play GTA without being a total butthead beating up pedestrians for their money and whatnot. Just because the possibility is there doesn't mean you have to do it. Sure you're playing a bad guy, but everyone else you are fighting in those games are also bad guys, even the crooked cops. You can even drive the speed limit and stop for traffic signals if you really want to.

I played GTA III as if I was a deep undercover agent trying to get to the guy behind the whole thing. That is one of the problems with a true sandbox game. A fairly high percentage of gamers need some sort of guidance to progress in a game. In a sandbox they simply follow how they see others play or get bored because they missed the contact that gets them started. Picking up prostitutes, having them "heal" you and then kill them and take their money must be the way the game was intended to play, I see everyone talking about it.

Same is true here. How every team now needs to be 8 members. Leveling up as fast as you can is the primary goal. Everyone has to do sewer teams at low level. CoT are a pain, do Freakshow. Wait, arcane salvage is worth big bucks, everyone do CoT and forget about Freakshow. Wait, we can get arcane salvage with tickets, everyone do loads of ticket rich MA missions. The "adventure" of walking the streets, fighting crime, helping the weak, you know the theme behind CoH, has been reduced down to the flavorless basics of any MMO. Level and loot.

Level 50 shouldn't be the goal, it's the reward for accomplishing all the other goals, story arcs and missions in the game.

Isn't that just (arbitrarily self-inflicted) Hard Mode? You can't jack any cars other than the mission's requirements?

The journey isn't over once you hit 50. For some 50 is just the beginning.

I agree that the journey isn't over at 50. I still play my 50s, but people that think the game starts at 50 are missing out on a great game experience. In fact, I'm curious as to what they are expecting once they get to 50 in a few days.

That's why you should memorize the locations of nice parked cars, then you just pretend they are yours, get in and drive away. You don't have to jack a moving vehicle. It's really not hard mode just to avoid killing people and doing mean spirited things for no reason whatsoever. Beating up hookers is not a requirement of the game.

...That's *not* stoked about Going Rogue? For me, I see less pros and more cons. Like, if defenders make their way to villains, corruptors will most likely be ignored. People will prefer Tankers to Brutes. Am I just being overly-negative?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not stoked until I know more. If side switching involves sacrificing badges/levels/whatever then I won't care for it. Also we have no idea what content beyond side switching this will hold. So waiting and seeing.

Also brutes are what scrappers should have been, not evil tanks.

[/ QUOTE ]

Put me in this camp too.

Until there is actual information about it, it's on par with my gf telling me she went shopping
and got a new blouse.

My Response? "That's nice, dear" (as I turn my attention back to the Forum)

Same for Going Rogue. "That's nice, Devs" (call me when you're sharing actual information)

[/ QUOTE ]

Exactly. I am not really planning to outright switch anyone over here, although if all ATs are opened up to both sides, I might work with that a bit. I also would not mind creating a Brute blueside, because Tanking is just noooooooot for me, and Brutes > Scrappers, in my honest opinion.

I think we were told about this because the developers wanted to silence the many and noisy Sour Grapes about MA nerfs on the forums. I have no way of actually knowing that for sure, yet it all makes sense when you think about it. And this strategy worked, to a point, although the frost is definitely off of the MA "pumpkin" over here, ergo real enthusiasm is gone.

I'm still looking forward to i15 though.

IMO co-op zones are great, I prefer villain side, but most people I team with prefer the hero side. Being able to move a villain to hero side doesn't do it for me, because I just don't like the hero side of going to every zone available to complete one story arc. Yuck.

I'm still excited about this expansion because it opens up extra things for high level contact.

About power leveling to 50 in a few days/hours (whatever) some people like it some don't. I tried it a couple of times and found that I didn't like that character because I didn't work to achieve the levels. (though most of us hate low levels for our own reasons) I ended up deleting both of them that were PLed. But that's just me.

About saying tankers vs. brutes one will be preferred over the other.... yeah, it's how it is. The person who makes the character and plays it will be the one who chooses what they like better. Co-op zones will give you a good idea that both are wanted and appreciated. The same goes for all other class of AT weather it be hero or villain. The only time I get frustrated is when seeking a kin (we all love SB) you find a kin who either doesn't have or refuses to use SB. LOL I had a kin on my team once who was convinced that siphon speed was aoe like FS and siphon power. Had another who said he doesn't have sb cuz it doesn't help him. *kick-boot* lol

For the record I hate AE. That's just me, most like it. Most farm it. I can't stand it.

I'm looking forward to the extra slots beyond lvl 50. That will be fun to work toward.

I am confused though. Will all of coh/cov be able to access the new zones? Once the expansion is purchased of course. Will all new characters have to start out in the rogue zone? Or can one maintain their hero or villain class to start then choose later on? Would be nice to take my widow to the real PI to fight there with out having to go goody goody. Not some alternate PI zone. And no, not for pvp, but for hunting or picking up extra missions.

Kinda thinking a pvp option in all zones would be cool. But mine would always be no. I hate pvp. Some love it though and we have to keep the pvpers happy. LOL they spend the most money in the markets.

Well, those are some of my thoughts on the new expansion. Not that my opinion matters to anyone but me. But if anyone actually thought about it, that applies to everyone.

Have fun and happy hunting!!

uh, not to sound mean but what rock have you been living under?

Brute is MUCH better than tanks.

anywho, I think this rouge thing will bring more heroes to the vill side and more vills to the hero side, which I think will help balance things out a bit more. Plus people who rp will be able to play out their characters better this way too.

I know how shouty the responses will get but if they're going to do this, just open all the zones up to all ATs, merge the markets and make it like comic books where villains and heroes live in the same places, buy stuff at the same stores and fight on the streets.

Give the non PvPers the nice little no PvP option like some MMOs.

[/ QUOTE ]

But we still have to see the fights. We still have to put up with the social rejects badmouthing each other in every channel in the zone.

Opening up the world doesn't require making it all PvP-enabled. Keep PvP confined to its little pockets where the non-PvPers don't even have to go if they don't want to.

Are you kidding? Anyone who would ever, ever, ever pick a Defender over a Corruptor (or anything else, really) needs their head checked.
