I expect the links went dead when the forum moved. The Going Rogue FAQ is here in Announcements, but there's almost no information there.

Aiii thankyou...

And you're quite right. It's ...erm... thin...

So, essentially, everything in this thread so far is based on nothing more than speculation, anxiety and hope?

Wow. Just like Real Life

If we're going to speculate, then let's speculate!

What are the chances that Emperor Cole's HQ is located in a spacecraft, satellite, or underwater base? The scene in the vid where Statesman and Desdemona are looking at the city kind of looks like it's on a monitor (perhaps even from an overhead angle).

Grist for the rumor mill!

Being a longtime player, I would hope that this expansion would bring us to a higher level.

It would be great if we could raise levels to 60 or even 70.

After allmost 5 years of playtime on here, it would be time we evolved even more with our toons.

We're goin WAAAAAY back down memory lane here, back to the time of Cuppa Jo and her city moderating days. I remember the player survey that was given to us MANY years ago that asked us where we'd like a new zone. Well since it was the arrival of kheldians at the time (yes that far back) a lot of us clicked "outer space". Now low and behold, outer space is mentioned in GR. Maybe I can haz space suit!

Regardless tho, I share your conjecture about post level 50 content, and we will see what happens with the mysterious "universal slots" that bring us to a mythic level 60. (makes me wonder however, doesn't that mean more powers?)

And in closing, you're right. There's very little information on this game, including information on the potential for beta release. Then again, I suppose they are busy trying to wrap up i16 first...

Right now, Anti-Matter is the one with the space station, and Tyrant has an underground lair - which I'd expect to be upgraded in some way in GR to make it more like a palace/fortress.
An alien space station orbiting Earth was mentioned in that NCSoft marketing survey, but as a place where 50s would unlock rewards to make them more powerful.

where did everyone read about the new patrons? Am i missing something?

I did see something that bothered me, I saw a promo somewhere I know its online, but I saw a promo where Desdemona was on Tyrant's side hile Sister Psyche was next to states.

Should Desdemona be next to Statesman?

Sorry to disappoint but never going to happen (well 99.99%); if the level cap was raised would have happen awhile ago. Way to much work the devs to do instead of just raising the level cap and adding content.

if you read the GR website (specifically Desdemona's profile) You'll see that Desdemona's mother was killed in an altercation involving Statesman. Even thought State's wasn't the one the one who killed her mother, Desdemona grew up hating him until he saved her. So now she's questioning her entire life. It goes to the entire theme of Going Rogue, what is good and right, and what is wrong and evil.

I've been hearing this argument for years. Everything I have ever heard a dev say (and I am only referring to actual statements that I have personal read that were posted by the dev/red name or came from interviews with a developer) amounts to the game was designed from day one to have a level cap of fifty. That has always been the plan and that is what it has been built around. I've read probably a dozen different reasons why people think the cap should be raised, most of them ammounting to "So I can put X slots in Y power".

I gotta be honest, I think the game does an admirable job of keep the world "real" in regaurd to levels. Think of it like the military. You start out in Boot camp. For those 6-8 weeks you're in boot, all you know is boot camp. Then you graduate and go into training. And for the next 10 weeks all you know is what revolves around your training. Then you finish your training and you get deployed. And for 6 months+ all you know if where you're deployed. Then after that things start changing. You may be called on to do a 6 week recruiting gig, so low and behold you have to go back to where it all started. But it's not the same as when you started. Then later on you get promoted and are now in command. You may be in the same place you were when you were a in training, but it's not the same. Even if you become a general, chances are you'll be back where you started at some point for something. Basically here's what my view: 50 is about has powerful as we can be because that's the world is right now. The only way I will accept a level cap raise is if the world changes with it. Ya know, like the Shadow Sharde implodes on itself and Rularuu escapes back to earth or something like that.

And what about having the level cap raise to 60 and permit players 50-60 to roam around the entire maps of the game?

Imagine some villains showing up in Atlas Park and try to rule the area, then some heroes showup and kick their behinds ;-)

No? Ok how about reversing the roles and have some heroes try to infiltrate the St-Martial casinos?

not opposed to the swapping sides idea, but how does that justify raising the level cap?

Yeah there is absolutely no reason to raise the level cap. Pointless. New innovations/end game are the way to go.

I see on the PAX agenda there is no talk of ROGUE. That is unfortunate as I am looking to head to CHAMPS and there is no way I am paying for 2 MMOs.

If ROGUE is of the same calibre most of the recent issues have been, I will have to leave. I am hoping instead ROGUE is full of new innovations etc. Could be possible considering how lean the last few issues have been. Ah well, Sept is almost here and I'll have to figure it out.

Its worth a note that GR is not an Issue, its an expansion pack, so it would never come anywhere near the same caliber of one. It should far exceed it. Therefore you have nothing to worry about

Kindler... you said "should"... focus on should....

We are going to be paying for 2 new powersets (ones we have been asking for and for a while), a gold paintjob'd steel canyon and a system feature that has been underwraps so much that I am starting to think its a myth!

I think the marketing dept should make some sorta of leash release on the devs and let them say something... seriously if they are trying to 1-up the competition by not releasing info until the weekend of release then wow the marketting team is slightly smarter than the marketting team that decided to market Crystal Pepsi ...you remember that right?!

We're coming towards the 3rd quarter of the gaming fiscal year... I think its time they gave us more than look at what Desdemona wears because frankly...CO is starting to sound Freem worthy?

Oh Torres, I read the thin FAQ and I read her awesome backstory and I saw the video... from what I gathered she was swayed on states side not tyrants...so still why does she side with tyrant?

Honestly, new powers are nice, but I have enough rechargable temp powers to make up for all of them, I would just like to finish slotting my current powers, it sucks that my final powers can never share more than 4 slots. 10 to 15 extra slots for each would be nice. Would be real nice if you get them from like doing a new TF or completing a story arc designed to have them as a reward. That is adding a lot of new content by doing it that way.

I been reading and getting hints that Going Rogue may be Issue 17 due out later this year. With the coming of Champions Online and other superhero MMOs on the way it may be dangerous for NCsoft to have us all pay for this as well with lots of players leaving soon. I think it should be kept free to help keep people here. I know lots of players that will be going to Champions Online for good. The people on beta I know like what they see and with the clicky way teams are formed now for AE I have no reason to stay either. Where is the Issue 16 beta ???

Yeah no. I17 is not ROGUE. It is a separate boxed expansion. It is not an issue. Issues are updates that everyone must have in the game so the features and game evolves. ROGUE will be a box you have the option of buying.

I also am a little surprised the angle they went with the canon for ROGUE. Yet again they went with alternate versions of their existing signature characters. Pretty lame. It was a good opportunity to launch a few new key characters.

Honestly, I am tired of waiting to hear about what ROGUE will contain. I was in CHAMPIONS closed beta and I am in the open. I pre-ordered the Amazon version of that game today and will likely leave CoX. I have had enough of their SOON crap.

What? Are you seriously saying that the expansion is going to have only one new zone and a thinly disguised version of Steel Canyon at that? I just can't square this with the great work the devs have done on zones in the past.

Posted

ok maybe I unexaggerated... but I say well get a few large steel canyons with gold paint...

For an expansion that is going to be going into closed beta we don't know anything about it. I honestly would not be surprised with the zones if they were large steel canyons with gold paint. If Praetoria looks like what the screen in Statesman video screen then hell I'll be happy but I really want more for 30-40 bucks...

I really thing that the marketing geniuses at paragon studios...norcal...ncsoft ( they have more name changes that the artist formerly knows as prince...prince...or that symbol)... the only other marketing geniuses were the masterminds behind crystal pepsi...really

I want some solid news...

I have to say, I'm really looking forward to Going Rogue. Especially now that I've actually played Champions for a while. I was lucky enough to get into the closed beta for CO earlier this month and all can say about CO is thank heavens I got to try it before I bought it as it would have been a waste of money.

There are many reasons why I dislike CO, but this isn't the correct place to air those comments.

Anyway, I have gotten a little tired of the content here in CoX, but not the game itself. It's just a "lack of content" that is making CoX a little stale for me right now. I have a feeling though that there will be a lot of new content with Going Rogue. Maybe not even as much as City of Villains had, but who is to say right now. We know next to nothing about GR at this point.

I've been here for 5+ years and deep down still enjoy the game. I just need a little something new to keep it fresh. Shoot, even being able to side switch will keep me happy for quite a while.

First off, CoX has no reason to fear CO, the people who like playing MMOs with other people aren't going to CO. Second, since GR will in fact be a paid expansion and we've been getting tons of free updates for the past 5 years you can just forget about it being as lean as the last couple of issues. I would expect at least as much as CoV since
A) that is the only other paid expansion we've had
B) CoX has competition coming out and, say what you want about the people at Paragon Studios but they're not stupid and won't put out an overpriced expansion with competition coming out so soon

I for one am really looking forward to GR since some members of my SG (small SG so about half of it :P) are liking Champions but still say it isn't superior to CoX as far as MMOs go and hopefully that will convince them to stay on target!

So, you're going to the game made by the company that started that "SOON crap"... That'll show 'em.

1. Going Rogue will be an expansion. Not an issue. It is not part of issue 16, 17, 18, 19 or further. As an expansion, it will do far, *far* more than an issue - and be worth paying for.
2. I've run through the CO beta. I've looked through the CO boards and seen lots of "I'm glad I didn't preorder," "hey, Gamestop lets you change your preorder to something else," and "I'm glad I didn't put down the six month/lifetime payment," especially with their last "adjustment" a day before the end of beta, and days before release.
3. Issue 16 beta is... in beta. In closed beta, in fact. And it has been for a bit.
4. The "clicky way" teams are formed? I have no idea what you mean by that - and go up and read the mention of "super-sidekicking" by Positron in the announcements (or was it news...) - teams will now be even *easier* to make.

wish they would have taken the SOON marketing crap with them... why is it still around?

I want some news I swear I am starting to get antsy! I wonder if the paid expansion will be in the $15.00-$30.00 dollar price range? The current packs cost 10 bucks and that's just costume pieces.

I don't want to start more..I really don't. but CoV was their first expansion and offered 4 zones and 5 AT's countless new powers...how much will their second expansion cost if it only offers 2 new power sets, and one world? How many zones can that world hold?

I think now would be the time to get the news truck rolling with some more pertinent posting

I dunno, Paragon City and the Rogue Isles is one world, and there's 29 Hero Zones, and 10 Villain Zones, and 7 PVP or Cooperative Zones.
(Granted, 1 of the Hero and 1 of the Villain zones is the Midnighter Club, which only contains one or two story arcs and one badge; also, 1 of the Coop zones is Pocket D which only occasionally has content available; plus the starter Hero zone and the starter Villain zone, but characters don't have consistent access to that zone)

Of course, Praetoria won't have 45 or so zones, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were four, maybe even five or six. I also wouldn't be surprised if there were only two or three, but instead had more contacts per zone, or more story per contact, instead of spreading them out (like CoV).
