Just looked at the listing on Steam...

Devs should really consider bumping up the reported min. specs -

Processor: Intel® Pentium® III 800 MHz or AMD Athlon™ 800 MHz
Memory: 512 MB RAM

The game will really chug, but that brings up the issue of whats on the box.

Steam is a distribution engine that was developed by Valve. They are the group that gave the gaming community Halflife, Counter Strike, Day of Defeat and yes I could go on.

It is only a voluntary distribution conduit for you to keep track of games and updates. Keep track of friends and what games they are playing. It's pretty awesome that Paragon Studios has decided to take this step. So many people using Steam now, it will most likely result in an influx of new players. =]

So will Steam implement voice chat during actual COX gameplay?

NCSOFT may take away our servers and beloved dev team, but they can't break our spirit and community. with all your power, NCSOFT, your victory will be bitter-sweet. I, personally will be there to laugh at you when you face-plant into the ground.

you can change what key(s) activates the overlay. I changed mine to the tilde key.

Any optional way to increase the game's exposure seems like smart move. PC Gaming's share of retail wall space seems to be rapidly shrivelling, so digital distribution seems like the way to go. I don't use Steam, but it seems like its probably the market leader in this kind of thing, so good for NCSoft for jumping on board.

Yes.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS APPLIES TO CURRENT SUBSCRIBERS ONLY!

1) Create a Steam Account
2) Purchase City of Heroes Architect Edition
3) When you see "City of Heroes" in your list of games, select Install (even if you have the product installed on your system), and you will get your "City of Heroes : Architect Edition" serial code.
4) Copy that serial code (i.e. Highlight it and copy with CTRL+C)
5) Cancel the download (the download is unnecessary if you already have City of Heroes installed on your PC)
6) Go to http://us.ncsoft.com and select the "My Account" tab at the top of the page
7) Log into your NCsoft Master Account
8) Click on "Use a Serial Code"
9) Enter the Serial Code given to you by Steam (Paste it with CTRL+V)
10) Select the Account you want to upgrade
11) Select your "booster" (i.e. the Cyborg or Magic Booster Pack)

...and you should be done with "upgrading" your current City of Heroes account.

Please note that if you select a booster that you previously already had (i.e. you picked the Cyborg Pack and you already purchased the Cyborg Booster Pack, or you picked the Magic Booster Pack when you already purchased the Magic Booster Pack), you will need to file a Support Ticket for assistance.

Seriously. I've impulse bought so many games through Steam it's not even funny. Even with the fact that CoH is subscription based, simply being on Steam should result in a decent spike in player numbers....more than a box stuck in the back corner of a GameStop.

Honestly I'm befuddled by the utter lack of publicity about the amazing milestone that this MMO has achieved - player generated content!!! What other MMO has this even on the horizon?!
