One of the things that's always bugged me re: the launcher that, instead of using your default browser, it always opens up linked pages in IE instead.

Take for example the Halloween event being advertised on the launcher. When I click the picture, it opens up IE7 instead of my default browser, Chrome.

I know this has been brought up several times in the past, but since we're on the subject, isn't it time someone cleaned up the HTML on the page to use a user's browser of choice?

My guess is that the updater uses embedded IE to display a web page there. So when it opens a link from within it, it's opening up the link in a new window in the "same" browser. Which might be tricky to have it open it in another browser. (File this under "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.")

A blind Shot at my hardware Is a Ignorant shot in the dark. Kudos to you yes i do use MoZilla as well as IE6. By default when you click on hyperlinks in the updater, it uses IE by default. My pointing out the forgotten code did indeed usher the correction of the code in the page, Much to the fanboy dissmay.

Call me a fanboy all ya want pops; you'll just have to forgive my use of satire (which probably went over your head)

However, I do agree that the IE thing is irritating, and something I've been asking to have changed for years. So kudos to you for sharing my frustration over this irksome issue.

Plus, my bad for not accounting previously for those stuck with IE6 at their jobs due to draconian IT admins who refuse to upgrade systems to something less prone to malware. So apologies in order for those who have no choice in upgrading.

That is my biggest fear, and if true, a bad design IMHO. Although some may dislike it, it's just one more reason to integrate the launcher into the PlayNC launcher (which does use the default browser).

Speaking of which, City of Heroes RSS news feeds no longer appear (at all) in the PlayNC launcher. Just FYI Lighthouse and web team

I think the site rocks! What I also like is your comments about signature characters - a step in the right direction!

I think you really need to give an idea of the CoX world on the site. When I was looking into the game there was no readily available information to the game. I didn't know who these characters were, I didn't know the Vills, I wasn't easily able to find out where the game is based (Rogue and Paragon) and there was no sense of the CoX cannon or lore on the page. It would be cool to see this and a features link put on the site. I really think if that info was easily available it would entice more players

Two of the navagation boxes are broke under firefox (text doesnt fit in the box). I personally dont like the change of graphics. I think its "over the top" so to speak. I am glad that positron no longer is bobbing up and down but otherwise not thrilled.

Yup, we're aware of that oversight and it's on the list to be corrected.

Not sure if someone mentioned it but noticed the other day that the information about prestige and the amount of influence/prestige is out of date as well. It says after a certain level you no longer earn influence in SG mode which isn't true anymore.

New website? Dang, why don't you do something useful and make some new in-game maps?

We've been playing the same maps since beta!! Get rid of the cave maps too. Everyone hates them!

Filthy, filthy LIES!!! Anyone who does anything at NCNC can do anything we want them to do in the game! We just have to be irrational hard enough!

I just looked at the site again - those dynamic text-images have been replaced with actual text! They render correctly all the time, and can be selected. Hooray!

The site is fantastic, but I am having troubles finding info on the past issues and issues to come also the vet rewars link in the play nc accounts section is no longer working.

Either way, great job. Everything is easier to access and the new banner is a nice touch. Good work, everyone.

A couple of things that I find irritating with the server status page:

The update time seems to have been removed, given that the page stops updating from time to time, it would be good to see if this is the case.

I would echo the concerns about the size of the thing previously expressed, there is no excuse for it not fitting on one screen even for the smallest monitor.

I'm not sure about this new look, it looks too squarish, but really I do kind of miss the old one, the way it was since forever.

I run FireFox and the menu bars on the left hand side of the screen don't work for me.

Which version of Firefox and what if any addons are you running? I'm using Firefox 3 and the site displays fine for me, including the menu bar.

I am more excited about the new forums than i13 itself. These forums seem to get worse everyday. Took me 45 minutes to change my avatar yesterday.

Now that open beta has begun is it not time to get the forums changed over to the new format? My understanding was that the closed beta folks were using the new format to keep information seperate.

It's frustrating trying to post or read information and it takes 15 minutes to open a page or it times out all together.

Hi Lighthouse.

Sorry, but I don't like the new webpage. I liked the old one better.
Why?
Well, the "City of Heroes" header takes up a third of my screen. And, the sub header (eg - info - about the game), takes up ANOTHER third of my screen. And then I have to spend a lot of time scrolling down/up to view the info waaaay further below. I remember the last website, I could view the majority of each screen without having to scroll at all. For me, this new website is a pain.

My suggestions as follows:

- Keep the City of Heroes header nice and large on the home/greeting page.

- Reduce the size of the city of heroes header on ALL other pages (I don't need to be reminded where I am, really.)

- Reduce the size of all the subheaders, they are too freaking HUGE.

- The news archive - make each news item shorter in terms of height -- the page is incredibly long now in comparison to the old news archive view (maybe reduce line spacing a little, and, move the "read more" link to the end of the text rather than below it). (same goes for patch notes).

- Game updates - I preferred being able to select those in the drop-down box on the old site & read the info, that was MUCH easier to navigate through. The banners for each are really nice, but I would much prefer a drop down box, and the feature images appear on the side of the site (margins).

- Server status - horrible, so horrible, i liked the old one, was so nice and easy to view it on screen without having to scrollllllllllllllll. Yes, I HATE scrolling.

Positive feedback -- the graphics/images look very nice, and the site overall is very professional image wise, and other than the few areas that I criticised, the rest of the site I think is good.
