I'm inclined to agree with the OP. The free content we are getting is not as good as the microtransaction content, which keeps on growing. Want all the cool costume pieces, cool emotes, cool costume changes, cool travel powers? Pay $50 for them. I wonder how many booster packs they are going to release. I really hoped CoH wasn't going to turn into a microtransaction-fest.

Quote:That's odd, because I've left the game for months and come back to a full inbox also. You just rapidly click spam for a few seconds and it's gone. Do you actually know how long four minutes is? Stop spreading lies.I counter this anecdotal evidence with my own: occasionally I come back to a character after a couple of weeks to find the inbox full of spam, which requires me at least three or four minutes of clicking (and waiting for the server to respond) before the inbox is cleared. "Four seconds" is certainly nowhere near the actual time taken.

Oh really? I thought it was about discussing City of Heroes in general, not blindly praising it constantly. The fact of the matter is, CO is offering more than CoH can. I used to love CoH. It was my favorite MMO. I've played it since issue 3. But frankly it's grown boring. There is absolutely nothing to do in this game but farm anymore. There is no end-game content. I was hoping i16 would keep me, but it's not adding any actual content other than power customization, which CO already has.
The last three issues have been worthless. i13 was going to be the MA, but it changed. It didn't add much. i14 was the MA. It added farms and Atlas spam. i15 added one task force. I want more things to do for FUN.
Maybe GR will sway me back, maybe not. I'm guessing not, but we'll see. -
Quote:Actually the previous lead developer for CoX is the current lead developer for CO. That's a pretty important role.Think it's the case that:
The company that makes CO is the same company that made CoX.
But the people who make CO are not the same people who made CoX.
Most of the people who made CoX are still here making CoX and have nothing to do with CO development.
For ideas/vision and fun factor, I'd take people over company name any day. -
I really don't see the problem with just clicking spam in email. It takes maybe 3 seconds at most. I hate people who act like deleting spam emails is severely hindering their gaming experience. If you play a character frequently, you might get one or two per sign-in. That should take about 0.5 seconds to get rid of. Hell, I've gone away for a few months and come back to a ton of emails. 4 seconds of clicking and they are all gone and on ignore. You people overreact.
-
You do realize they are the same people who made this game, right? Do you really think it will be that bad? You must hate CoX then.

I play on Freedom because of the population. I'll admit Freedom is full of chat spam and some stupid people, but frankly it's better than a ghost town.
A few days ago I decided to try a new server. I'm pretty sure I tried Guardian, Triumph, and Pinnacle. When I zoned in, Atlas was empty. I did a search for lowbies to maybe get a sewer team together. I did a search for 1-10 people. There were about 8 people online altogether in that category. I decided to go to Virtue and was happy there. So now my main servers are Freedom and Virtue.
I can't stand playing this game alone, and that's what it feels like I'm doing on the ghost town servers. -
I'm getting tired of these $10 costume packs. I could possibly understand ONE special $10 pack. But now there are 4, with more coming. I don't think people should have to pay $40 extra if they want to access costume pieces other than veteran ones. It just strikes me as majorly low and cheap.

Just a nitpick, CoH is the first to offer user created MISSIONS, however Pirates of the Burning Sea has allowed user created flags and sails and even ships since beta. In fact, a good 30% or more of the ships were created by players during the beta and are named as such.

Actually, Ryzom was the first to do player created missions. CoH is not the first. -

Very nice!
One of the folks in my Supergroup posted a pic of your robot, so I had to track down this thread to comment on it.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, um...what SG would that be again?
[/ QUOTE ]
Next logical step.... everyone who's part of a SG where someone posted a pic of the robot (awsome, btw) raise thier hand.

Yes! We must find out Castle's SG! -
I definitely think the cons outweigh the pros on the PvP issue.

Epic Archetypes aren't listed under the Game Info -> Archetypes section.
-
Not sure if anyone else noticed, but the epic archetypes aren't there for the hero/villain archetype sections.

I am not a badger and I still dislike the current time. An entire month just seems too long. It should be cut in half.

Just to answer a few immediate questions:
Bruce's red name: Bruce won't be posting directly on the forums.
How long can questions be asked? Questions will be collected on Monday, September 22nd from both the North American and European forums.
When will the questions be answered? Shortly after they are collected we'll post up Bruce's replies.
Not long after that, we'll introduce our next dev and ask for your questions for them.

We all pay money every month 15 bucks on up. that money needs to be spent on developing content and fixes for the game as it is now. seem that they just used our money and developed a way to make more money by charging 9.99 for a respec.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes we all pay a monthly fee. But keep in mind this game also needs to stay profitable.
[/ QUOTE ]
You lost me there. Of course they game needs to stay profitable. But this is not the way. I go on gaming forums on other websites. When people who don't play this game saw this announcement , do you know what they thought? They get turned off my the microtransactions. I know I would. It's only hurting the reputation of the game. -
For Mace....now this may sound a little eccentric but I like it.
A ROLLING PIN! Yes that's right, the rolling pin you used to flatten baked goods! It would fit the theme of a stay at home wife gone crazy! -
You seem to be forgetting that people ALWAYS complain. People are complaining now because of the lack of information being given. And people will complain when the information is released. And people will complain when the next issue is released. There will always be disputes. Here are the options:
Release the information and have people complain about it.
or
Keep it a secret and have people complain about the pace of the issues and lack of new content.
I'd choose the former. -

What I am just furious about is the secrecy about the future of the game. WHY does it have to be such a secret. You have all these big plans for the game and are working on them already. So why can't we know what they are?
[/ QUOTE ]
So what you're saying is that because a small minority of us are jerks, we shouldn't be told how the development of the game is going? Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. An easy solution would be for them to maybe say, "Hey guys, we have this idea here <insert new idea> and we hope it will make it in game, but no promises. We are currently testing it." It's that simple.
Sure, some people will complain. They always do. But it is better to be honest with us. Trust me, it's only turning out bad for the game in the end. I know people who have left the game because of getting bored, only to come back after the next announcement. -

So why can't we know what they are? We are paying our monthly fee so that the game can be updated for our enjoyment. I think that we deserve the right to know what the plans for the game are. There is no real reason to keep everything a secret for so long.

Wow! I came up with an idea of player created missions already and I can't help but feel my idea contributed to this. If Posi described it right, then most of the features I came up with are in the real thing. Here's my post about it
