Question about Best server...
Freedom has the most people, but it is far from what I would call "the best." I play on Champion and, sometimes, Pinnacle and enjoy both. They have, comparatively, low populations have a higher ratio of good players. PinnBadges and BMT of Champion (private, you'll have to ask for an invite) are good global channels that are quite active and frequently run Task/Strike Forces.
Note: Champion's villainside is notoriously inactive.

Hey. I played this game about 1.5 years ago for a while and quit. Now I am thinking of returning but I am looking for a server with the highest population, where there are at least people on all the time. Thanks in advance!
[/ QUOTE ]
Freedom has the highest population on both sides. Virtue comes second and is still the unofficial roleplaying server.
Infinity the Sexy Server
I heard Pinnacle is the drunk server. Depending on your mileage, this may other be the best thing or the worst thing.
All servers have "at least" people on all the time. Freedom has the highest population (well, load,) yes, but there's a reason it gained the nickname "freedumb."
Pinnacle, Victory, Guardian and Infinity have all been good (as has virtue, really.) Not that I've had problems on any, really.
The numbers aren't available, but per Ocho anything past Virtue and Freedom (and Infinity on good days since it seems to be the 3rd highest now) all the servers are looking extremely similar and much higher than you'd really think.
Pick one you like to play on, join global channels to chat with folks, and a supergroup with people you want to team with. Those are the important things, not which one has the highest volume of people - because with high volume comes high numbers of idiots.

I play Virtue, and it's always busy. I tried Freedom but ugh, it's got so many people that the idiots are impossible to ignore. Then again, on Virtue you get ERPing retards in Pocket D and sexual deviants who think that they are animals. Thank god for global channels.
I've tried the other servers but they are like ghost towns, especially redside. Yes, there are people there, and yes you can get teams, but nothing like Virtue. Virtue I can get a team together for any content at any time, short of Hami. I've assembled Doc Q teams at ten PM Pacific. I've built all-scrapper TFs on a whim. I have to turn people away every time I try to form a Freedom Phalanx TF, and I only recruit from a few key global channels. Last time I played on Infinity, I tried to get a TF together and was told to make a forum thread to schedule it for a few days in advance. This was using the Infinity global channels, search tool, and plain old broadcast spam. I know folks do get teams there, but I'm spoiled by Virtue's high population. Even with such a high population, I see lots of familiar faces and great players.
So OP, I guess I recommend Freedom if all you want to do is farm (why?) and Virtue if you want an. . . eclectic experience that could include anything.
Don't listen to all the haters.
Freedom is the best.
At everything.
Period.
Well except Hami raids, but really who cares about hami raids anymore anyway?
So I guess instead of period I should have said:
Comma.
If you want lots of people, you want Freedom.
Virtue is also highly populated.
Can't go wrong with either of them.

Freedom is the highest population server.
Don't come to the forums and complain next weekend if you get locked out during double xp.

Facts are obviously "hate." Right.
Not like, oh, with a double XP weekend coming up, anyone would want to steer him away from the "What, it's grey, I can't get in!" that we'll see a few hundred threads about over the weekend or anything. Or that any of us are speaking from experience with the Freedom server. Nah, must just be "hate."
Well your first post in the thread did refer to it as "freedumb"....
And why not point out other "facts" like in general only low end machines will really notice the lag, or how anyone with any experience will only be "locked out" for 2-3 minutes since all they have to do is click on another server and then click Back a few times...
Now I'm only half serious here, since we Freedomites have learned to develope thick skins to protect ourselves.
And it's not like I'm fighting to make sure this new player ends up on Freedom. It doesn't matter to me either way, we have plenty of people and plenty more will join.
But it does get a little annoying to see my home server constantly attacked, belittled, insulted, etc whenever someone asks a question about servers....
It's all good though.
I know, it sucks not being as good as us.
Why do you have a problem with people telling new players the truth about the performance issuess they will encounter if they choose to play on Freedom?
Fact 1 Freedom gets greyed out during popular events like the upcoming 2xp event next week.
Fact 2 due to the high population Freedom experiences more lag than other servers when many players gather at gathering points like trainers, the AE, the market, etc.
Fact 3 due to the high population Freedom experiences more broadcast spam than other servers.
It says a lot about the character of a person when they don't want a new player to be able to make an informed decision.

Do you deny that's a longstanding nickname? It's sure been called that as long as I recall - my forum date's within a week of my start date, so it's been several years.

My machine is not low end, and I do still notice the lag. Not as badly, but it's still noticed.

[/ QUOTE ]
Of course, to completely avoid the problem, they can click on another server... and stay there, not locked out at all.
Yet you don't dispute, given history, that we'll see a good number of "I can't get in" threads (probably followed with "NCSoft owes me.")

Freedom has earned it. With my own experience, I've had a higher percentage of really bad teams, more BS broadcast spam, worse teammates doing flat out stupid things and more on Freedom. My Freedom characters (including one of my 50s, yes) are among my least played because of the general atmosphere and (lack of) quality of players I run into there.
If I want to have a good experience, I play on other servers. If I want to experience what a bus full of kindergarteners on a sugar rush who've just learned a bunch of new four letter words is like, I go to Freedom.
All it takes is the time for me to pay rent on a base to remember why I don't play there much.

When "As good" would put the others at or near last place, no, no it doesn't. The only thing Freedom has is (too much) population.

Which server would that be? I don't see any "ghost towns" - yet another freedomite myth, it seems.
Have fun clicking back and forth trying to get into your server. I'll be logged in and actually playing the game.
While I agree that sometimes the "Freedumb" bashing gets a little carried away, I'm with Memphis_Bill on this one. People complaining about 'ghost towns' or 'dead servers' get little sympathy from me.
If a person simply must have the high population, they're free to make characters on Freedom and/or transfer their existing characters. Yes, the latter option costs money. But since with a modicum of effort you can team just fine on all of the servers, I don't see a problem.
Sometimes people talk like if you're not on Freedom you can never do a Task Force, never participate in a raid, never get a team, never level past 2. It's just not true.

Bill, you forgot the "I should get free server transfers during 2XP/Rikti Raids weekend" threads...
Edited, because these exact same arguments come up when the Rikti Raid weeks are announced.

That was just a jab at Bill. I figure if he can toss around the "freedumb" myths then I can toss around the "ghost-town" myth.
.... Except it's not a myth in freedom's case. It's a plain and simple truth that it is so high-volume during event times (and even during non-event times too) that it's far easier to get on a different server without such problems during that event.
Outside those events? Still fun everywhere. We're all playing the same game. And like I said earlier in the thread: the numbers for all the servers outside the "top three" are essentially equal according to Ocho. There is no such thing as a ghost town.
Only people who steadfastly refuse to learn how to group in the game if that's what they want to do.
