Discussion: Issue 13: Architect

I did just have a nasty thought: the ultimate easter egg day job: log out standing on Heart of the Hamidon. An entire raid could do it, taking turns a couple at a time. I wonder if Positron is that evil.
[/ QUOTE ]
?
Did you forget that Hamidon's not there most of the time these days?
[/ QUOTE ]
I was thinking specifically about the case where that spot only unlocked for a limited time after a raid completed. Otherwise, yeah, the spot's not all that difficult to log out on if Hamidon isn't actually intentionally spawned.

So ...
Curiously absent from the announcement is some kinda' mention of The Vault.
Is it still on the radar, or has it been pushed back past I13?
[/ QUOTE ]
yes i have been wondering if vault got shafted.............get it..........nm carry on
[/ QUOTE ]
The City Vault isn't tied to an issue. It will launch if and when they finish fixing the bugs.
Really interested in what the interface for the mission creation tool will include.
There are a lot of factors in getting certain mobs to either patrol, ambush, guard or other functions in reaction to teams within the mission. Then tie this in a series of missions within a story arc.
There will have to be a very detailed interface to get it right the first time or ways to "test" the mission and tweek it prior to getting the final product.
Overall I give this announcment 3 thumbs up. (Ok so one of the thumbs is a graphic bug.)
[ QUOTE ]
That's unfortunate. Proliferation would have been one of my favorite things about this issue, if it happened. Shields are meh.
And what about Pistol blasters? Not gonna happen I guess.
Overall the issue sounds alright, not one of the best though.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was hoping for proliferation this issue too. I am really keeping my fingers crossed that they "Proliferate" dual pistols from MMs to blasters and corruptors. I think that would be a very fun set.
Castle has mentioned before, pistols is on his radar, maybe in I14? Who knows, I am not complaining though, I13 seems like it is going to be chock full of stuff, mission creator, new stuff to do in Cimerora, shield sets, Pain Domination, day jobs, merits. All sounds great to me, as does the Cyborg pack, I have been wanting more cyborg-y costume options. So all in all, I am looking forward to this issue, and I really want to know what they are doing with bases...

Color me annoyed with lack of Pistols.
I like the rest but I find myself less than enthused, and my general attitude towards the whole thing dampened as I once again find that this highly sought after set is absent.
[/ QUOTE ]
Color you spoiled. Seriously.
The new things for i13 mentioned so far > pistol set.

Is there anything that has ever been asked for that wasn't put in this issue??!! My god, you all have out done yourselves. I don't care if my game crashes every 4 times I zone, well done, lol.

Awe man, call Pain Domination 'Sadism'. Do eet.
Having a hard time seeing most of my characters having dayjobs. In particular the 4 foot hellspawn/woodland creature ones.
If you look at the time between issues this one is kind of a let down. If you replaced the mission creator with power customization then it would be a holy hell this is awesome issue. Excluding the fact that the cool cyborg stuff and a power your making people pay for. So this issue it looks like any of the good things I gotta pay for. Free indeed...
for day jobs i hope the zone tweaks mean adding "places of employment" to the zones, like a music shop for any musicians, or a shoe store for any cobblers. Nothing fancy just a store sign to log off in front of.
Other ideas would be a gym for athletes, i can allready see the movie theaters for actors and stuff.
"and more!" = Something involving a Khelidan modification or Revamp?
all I can say is this addition answers the reasons why I stopped playing that MMORPG...that is based upon the grand daddy of all RPGs...((D&D))...because you couldn't DM ((yeah I am old)) for your friends...and now I can to a certain bit..not able to dish out fudge ((I wonder if you can make PvP maps...so I can do Red team Blue team fights...))

I'm not spoiled in the sense of this definition: to impair, damage, or harm the character or nature of (someone) by unwise treatment, excessive indulgence, etc.
I'm spoiled in that, we already KNEW pretty much all of this. Weeks or months ago.
I'll repost what I just put in another thread that explains why I feel the way I do (which is a big, giant MEH):
Well a lot of my lack of enthusiasm can be drawn towards 3 primary issues.
1) I already knew about the mission content creator. I was super freaked out and psyched when it was initially announced, but now it's lost the new car smell; I just want it here already but being psyched about it? Been there, done that.
2) Also, we already knew Shields were going to be in, so this is not some huge surprise. We also already knew about the patron respec. In fact, adding new content to Cimerora is just logical progression and not something that is gonna wow anyone. Hell, a lot of this could have been easily guessed, and comes as no serious surprise. I will hope for some exciting news on zone revamping (Shadow Shard? Please?)
3) NO PISTOLS. They TEASED us with Lady Jane, once again showcasing their lack of foresight (no offense guys, you are really intelligent, hard working devs and I appreciate you, but: if you can't foresee the popularity of the mission creator, your foresight skills need some work, go play some Chess). They shouldn't have added that NPC without some plans to add pistols, as the mere existence of Lady Jane caused a LOT of buzz, and as showcased already today, several (perhaps many) are disappointed in the curious absence of the power set.
I'm only ladylike when compared to my sister.
I am seriously displeased...

A new game system that allows players to earn tokens by completing Trials, Task Forces, Strike Forces, Raids, etc. The most challenging and time consuming tasks grant the most reward tokens, which can be redeemed throughout Hero and Villain zones for recipes, enhancements, salvage, costume pieces, badges, inspirations and other game items.

Thank you for putting in reason number 1 why I quit World of Warcraft two years ago and sold my account.
I suppose the only redeeming quality is that PvP in City of Heroes is stupid pointless, and it's not like the invention sets go so far out of the way to make things lopsided.
But honestly, things like this are a slap in the face to casual gamers who don't have time to go doing TF's and whatnot every night.

This is AS WELL AS the current system, not INSTEAD OF.
Don't give me that 'slap in the face' rubbish, please.

The slap in the face is that they are actively stating it and rubbing casuals' noses in it rather than just letting it be.

Meh there will likely be some kind of proportionate reward system. You can still do Katies to get your merits, it just may take a bit longer than if you did some Positron and Shard TFs, and a lot of that extra time involved could in fact be the time it takes to build a team for such an endeavor. In fact, devs, you may want to work that into your calculations for rewards if you haven't already. Shorter TFs may be, well, shorter, but building 5 teams to do 5 Katie TFs is a lot more difficult than building one team for one Positron TF. I'm not sure how that would measure up in terms of time consumed.

What on earth are you talking about?
The idea of the Merit system is to finally make it worth people's while to run long TFs like Quaterfield and Positron. If you can get the same reward from a 10 minute Katie Hannon as you do from a 4 hour Posi TF, why bother with the Posi TF?
This isn't anti-casual. This is a very good idea, which finally makes TF rewards reflect the amount of time people have put into them. People who want to run fast TFs and so on will still be able to.

Not at all, but I'm perfectly within my rights for this Issue's (so far) announced content to not excite, entice or otherwise interest me. I was hoping for other things.
Also, as I already said, I already KNEW about the vast majority of the content of this announcement. I was very, very excited about the mission creator, shields, new Cimerora content, etc., but that was already revealed to us (or easily guessable) months ago. I was hoping for a surprise, something to wow me, I didn't get that. The day jobs? Interesting, but not something I'm gonna squee over.

NCSOFT may take away our servers and beloved dev team, but they can't break our spirit and community. with all your power, NCSOFT, your victory will be bitter-sweet. I, personally will be there to laugh at you when you face-plant into the ground.
First veats now empathy for vills......sigh....I sure hope u got something big for heroes coming.
I am so friggin' excited about this! Can't wait to dive into the mission generator -- there are some interesting hero and villain groups that just haven't gotten enough mission love. No more.

You have got to be kidding. What, you want the best rewards to come from the EASIEST tasks?
This will NOT be like WoW-grinding. Instead, it'll be "for X hours of running Taskforces, you should get X merits with which to purchase rewards". Wether that X hours is ONE shadow-shard TF run, or fifty Katies ... what does it matter? Equal time input, equal reward.
Yeesh.

I wouldn't make any assumptions that anything has been left out. Something tells me they're not done telling us just what's in this issue, so Pistols are still a possibility.
