What CoX backstory would you want to see?

There's a lot of great ideas so far in this thread I'd love to see more on. The Dark Astoria idea is great, and Boomtown feels like it's overdue for a Faultline treatment as well.

More than any of the others though, I'd like to see a TF letting me go back in time and fight alongside/against Atlas during the WWII invasions though. That's the "big" one for me.

Also, I'd like to see a good arc that covers some more in depth background on the Snakes, possibly even being involved in their origin. I know there's stuff here & there, but I'd like alot more...

Dear NCsoft, if you go through with this shutdown you've guaranteed you'll not see another dime from me on any project you put out, ever.

I mentioned this idea sometime after Issue 11 went live:

Specific story arcs that help flesh out some of the back story for each AT. Obviously, at some point someone had to be the first person to define the AT. How have each of the ATs changed over the decades? Who were some of the famous heroes/villains for each AT? Go through their history and develop some of the notable characters. Were Scrappers and Tanks considered the same AT at one time( just an idea )? Did someone actually name the ATs, or where the ATs named after someone(s) who exemplified the AT? If so, who?

Run the arcs from contacts in Ouroboros, so time travel can be implemented. How cool would it be to team up with Statesman or Lord Recluse when they were 'noobs'?

Miss Yin, whom you may remember, has foreseen that the Rikti plan one last desperate gamble to stabilize the gateway between our world, that they might flood the full power of their armed forces through once more.

Miss Yin's precognitions have shown us that they will attempt to harness the power of the Hamidon, as it occurs in the Rogue Isles.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hamidon's power is being used to stabilise the gateway to the Rikti homeworld. The Riders were already "four of the Rikti's most fearsome warriors" (Lady Grey's mission briefing) before they came to Earth. I think your 'obvious' conclusion is wrong in this case.

Time Bandit Badge: Portal Corporation had their main facility here until the Devouring Earth destroyed the area. This forced them to move their headquarters to Peregrine Island.

So, really this fits.

There's a Villian mission that shows the beginning of the reconstruction of Boomtown. It would be nice it that was on the Hero side as well...

My 2 cents . I would really really like to see a story arc as a Villain where your mission is to help Atlas stop the 5th Column invasion and ensure that he lives! By him surviving the invasion he is able to provide a higher guidance for Paragon city and ensuring that all goes according to his principles and concious because it would be for the greater good. Lord Arachnos would greatly appreciate this outcome because of the New World Order that Atlas brought to fruition where might makes right and Atlas was mighty mighty! And would also like to see the results of all of the construction in Port Oakes outside the arena.

12th Century Outer space: The alien entity known as Shiva destroys the planet of the Arcosians.

Outer space, 1989: A multinational force of heroes launches an attack against the alien entity known as "Shiva" in deep space. The heroes are never seen again.

Space missions to fight Shiva !!!

Also.. The Reichsman... any villain that can go toe to toe with an entire TEAM and come out with technically a draw.. that would be an epic TF.

I love this idea, the whole discovery of his dimension and his invasion would make an awesome task force.

The war between the Mu and the Oranbegans.

[/ QUOTE ]

That'd be a neat background setting for a Co-Op zone, via Ouroboros or the Midnight Club.

The Mu-Oranbega War:

Someone has gone back in time to attempt to change history in a very unsettling way... the Mu-Oranbega War, historically devestated both sides of the conflict to the point that neither one nor the other had the real strength to carry on. Turning against their own allies, the demons of the Circle of Thorns decimated the Oranbegans when they would show mercy over the last few Mu, sending them out of the demons reach for a time.

Time is starting to shift; Someone has gone back to the time of this war in order to, subtly, carry out the plan that the Oranbegans had shown the presence of mind to abandon, cursing themselves to destruction as well: The genocide of every last descendant of Mu, before they could spread and recover even a portion of their strength.

Arachnos has a bit of investment with the Mu in their current state: While they don't want them to rise up and become a rival nation unto themselves (which would leave the fate of Sharkhed Isle and perhaps the Rogue Isles themselves in question over ownership), but their mystical might and talents have proven quite useful to the organization. And letting the Circle of Thorns become a greater power is also not in the best interests of Arachnos as a whole. Lord Recluse has, on this matter, given his ascent to sending agents back in time to make sure that both sides of the conflict are shattered equally, and that things play out to their foregone conclusion (though, not everyone in the organization is told this /exact/ plan...): The Circle of Thorns and Mu both losing the conflict.

The Midnight Club can't really see a way out of this that wouldn't exactly shake things up worse then they already are, either. The Oranbegans made deals with demons and came back as the servants of the Circle of Thorns. The Mu made dark alliances with Lord Recluse and Arachnos, and if they could so so while still close to the height of their power... or, worse yet, their nation could rise up and become a pillar of evil of it's own volition. While it's against their better judgement, the balance has to be maintained, and the people of Mu and Oranbega have to be sacrificed to maintain order: You have to go back and stop them both, by any means possible, so that no clear winner is on either side.

...randomly.

heres a neat idea.... for the hero content... have hereos get in touch with elements of the Orenbegans and convince them not to commit total genocide, and have a mission for heroes to save some of the last muvians.

Alot of people wanted more morally ambiguous content for heroes, since villans have to play goody two shoes. This is it. heroes would do something, knowing the consequences would be horrific, save innocent children, but destroy an entire civilization and spawn a force of villany in the future.

I would love to see a backstory mission/oro/time travel story arc where you went back in time to stop the formation of the malta.

1.You'd meet up with the people forming the malta group at "the Island of Malta" and you'd have the usual plot twists. You'd go there originally to stop them from forming. It'd be a simple mission, fight some baddies or click some glowies, maybe plant some false information or maybe just run up and beat up the forming members.

2.When you come back, you've affected history, the malta are gone, and things are better...right? Of course not. You exit the mission but it leads you back to a different mission map (not sure if this is possible?) Your contact doesn't know who you are, portal corp is shut down (the map is like the portal corp building but the lights are off/things are faded, etc.) (not sure how this would work), and there are Rikti everywhere. (You could also make the Contact that sent you now be a transformed Lost/Anaethema! How cool would that be?). Turns out that the malta were big on protecting western assets back in the day, and without 'em most of the edge of the US was lost. Without that edge, the US was weakened by the 5th Column and unprepared for the Rikti War.

You have to go around beating up some Rikti but also rescue a few Nemesis warriors that are scrounging the facility for any sources of technology that can be used for inter-dimensional travel available. You find the McGuffin (glowie), which is what they were looking for. The Nemesis folk (they should have names) are very friendly and invite you over.

3. You head over to Nemesis' place, and his area is over-run by Rikti who have taken control of the area. You start off with the two minions that you rescued (since it adds a bit of continuity, I think) and then fight, eventually rescueing Ajax(or some other known NPC), etc. and learn that the Rikti have established a firm presence on Earth, and that not many people are left. Nemesis has united with the remaining heroes and is pulling a last ditch effort to save (!?) humanity by escaping to a "wonderous new world", one where he would presumably rule.

4. You give the McGuffin to the Nemesis soldiers, enter into a Nemesis base with a big ol' portal and have to fight your way through to click it and enter... while a whole bunch of Rikti are teleporting in.

5. When you run through you are now in the Shadow Shard portal map. Lots of Nemesis are around, only these are hostile to you. You do end up rescuing one of Nemesis' men, the one you saved earlier, who tells you that Nemesis didn't even need the McGuffin that you gave him. He entered the portal before he gave it to him. You eventually get to Ajax and Nemesis in front of ANOTHER portal who are having a conversation. Nemesis says that it's installed but Ajex is talking about how he should not have left the others behind. You then fight 'em and when you beat Nemesis he confesses that someone had altered his plans, blah blah blah and that he built a time machine to go back and "fix it." So you, of course, step into the time machine.

6. You're back at the same map as #1 in the Island of Malta, only this time you have to beat up a hero dressed like you/with your powerset. You stop yourself, and then pop back to your own time.

Souvenier would be the McGuffin device. I know it's very unrefined, but I think the general idea is pretty nifty. Of course there would need to be more twists with Nemesis, but I can't think of any off the top of my head right now. Maybe you find out he was behind giving you the opportunity to time travel to Malta?

Even though the Avilians HEAT is no longer going to happen... It still has some hints in the lore.

It would be neat if a NPC hero group sprung up as the avalians to perhaps plague some new island (zone) to be found in the rogue isles. That would be a nifty thing to see... a race of bird like peoples fighting off the arachnos or villains in general to protect their moutain top Nests(?).

That would so demand a drawing backstory I would think.

That and... the Black Blood of the Earth. Man do I want to know what they are all about.

Also the temple and sect that Scirocco belongs to. It sounds as if they are more hero than villain based. Maybe they are more neutral and can go one way or the other. A more heavily mystical and ancient version of the Vanguard?

Two of the WWII stories, Atlas fighting the 5th Column and Nemesis's "Emperor of the Americas" takeover are at the top of the list for me.

Brass Monday would be cool as well, and would be a good opportunity to have some allies/enemies who really reflect the time period, two-fisted pulp adventurers and wily gadgeteers and such.

I'm just going to throw something out there...

Perhaps give villains the chance to go back in time and sink the Ghost Ship's original version? That ties them into a heroside event. Could go so far as to save the names of villains who complete this story/arc/whatever and next time the ghost ship spawns, the ghosts could reference the villain(s) randomly. "I saw someone named GenericVillain000992 down near the engine room!"

Another idea might be to see an alternate world where Nemesis actually won and perhaps he's attempting to invade our world. It would be a blast to actually have to assist our Nemesis against the other, more powerful Nemesis, since I assume Nemesis is a bit of an egoist and wouldn't dare allow himself to be subjugated by anyone... even himself. Can you imagine a ticking brass clockwork version of Atlas Park? Maybe a similar brass style tower/castle replacing Grandville? (Funny thing is, in imagining the two, I keep hearing little children singing "It's a small world after all..." in the back of my head) Anyway, those are my thoughts.

But yeah, add my votes for Dark Astoria and anything involving the Shadow Shard.

Seriously, I would LOVE to be able to go to the Rikti homeworld. That would make a fantastic TF.
We could find out why Rikti & humans are basically the same.

First, I must say excellent thread going here. Second babs or Hero 1 you think this thread could possibly get a sticky ? I mean this would make your jobs a whole lot easier Lastly, some storylines that need more looking .....

Nemesis : what does he really look like I mean come on people , we know what posi looks like under the mask what about the grandmaster of plots . Also the "Web of Arachnos" was a great novel which I believe both had Lord Recluse and Nemesis ,tf's could possibly be done or unlockable story arc like Viridian contact.

Weaver 1: their has plenty mention of him yet it's been vague to say the least what's his story.

Just to add on the others that have been mentioned.

*Cliff Notes*

Hero/villain TF/SF where you go back in time to all the major events where heroes had to sacrifice them selves to stop something. Mainly all the giant statues you see all over paragon. While you do this you must fight off a team of villains trying to stop you from saving the heros lives. But at the end of the TF you find out the contact who sent you on the TF is manipulating you into doing this so that he can destroy/take over the world. So you must then team up with the villains to take down this contact who would be a extra hard AV, or a group of 2-3 AV's.

The villain would be the same missions . You fight to the same points. Only you fight this group of heroes instead of villains. And at the end you beat them and tell them whats going on, and they see what they have been doing wrong, and team up with you to take down that same guy/group to stop this from happening again.

The main idea tho is to learn about the back stories for all those giant statues you see all over the place. But you eventually find out about this plot to take over Ouroboros too. So this could be the "Official" way to get the Ouroboros portal. i don't mean to take away how we can do it now. Just story wise. This could be how your "Supposed" to get into Ouroboros. So we can have a story for how we get into the Ouroboroszone, instead of just having the portal magically drop from the sky and now your in Ouroboros. lol Like the arc to get into the Midnight Squad zone. Instead of it just unlocking at a certain point.

... you know, I could swear I remember running across a Nemesis-run dimenstion, although I'm not sure it was Steampunkified (it's been a while since I did the Portal Corp. missions)... even a mission chain that involved several Nemesi duking it out. Anybody else have anything more concrete on that?
