    Scrappers

Started with a Fire/Energy Blaster as my main for YEARS, then when Shield Defense came out I decided to make a BS/SD Scrapper named Lone Wolf and Kitten. Sadly, the awesomeness of that combo with that character made it oh so hard to play my Blaster as often as I used to. Soft-capped positionals, good Res, incredible damage, all wrapped up in a cute Japanese schoolgirl with a kitten perched on her shoulder. What wasn't there to love?

And now all those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain...
  2. An easy answer is that it never really jumped the shark. Yes we all complained about ED, but once we got invention sets it made things even better than before in terms of overall building as opposed to the usual "1 ACC, 5 DAM" builds everyone used.

And old Hami being FUN? I find it insane that your idea of fun involves a situation where a few people spend forever dumping PA's on Hami, the framerate was usually 1, and you'd have a zone full of people not actually helping because they wanted to wait until Hami was about dead so they could run in and smack him or, later, to run in and nuke, getting multiple HO's they didn't earn while others couldn't get the one they DID. And that was IF holds didn't fail and we ended up with a Yellow Dawn.

One has to wonder why you chose now to come back just to post a bunch of drivel? Was it because you were afraid you wouldn't be remembered as that guy who whined? Well, I can safely say you'll be remembered as that, so mission accomplished.
  3. 1) Was the Genesis unlock going to require defeating Praet Hami as was speculated by so many?
    2) Was Manticore going to go Vigilante or Villain, and were Scirocco, Ice Mistral, or GW going to to Rogue or Hero?
    3) Were we finally going to get a moonbase or space station?
    4) Were you going to do anything with the Primal Clockwork King now that Penny was part of the Freedom Phalanx? I always hoped she'd sort of rush him into the group as well.

You really should keep trying, you tried less than 1/2 percent of the codes.
  5. Just wanted to give a thanks to everyone who showed up in costume. It wasn't EVERYONE like we had hoped, but it was a huge percentage of the players, and that made it all the more fun. Even had Mako thank us for it! So thanks to everyone who contributed to the silly theme, it was awesome fun.

*goes to play with the Kirby Dots that were won* Muwahahaha.

I personally don't have a problem with things like that here, I was just explaining why it currently should be posted in suggestions and not here. To answer your question with my opinion, however, I think it has to do with whether the issue prevents intended gameplay from being what it was meant to be. And cutscenes are merely an annoyance, not something that is keeping the game from being played the way the devs intended it.

I think the best suggestion I've seen for the issue is make it a vote so that if more than half the people on a team click to skip a cutscene, it gets skipped.
  7. But this isn't the forum for gameplay complaints or desires, this is the forum for gameplay issues and bugs. You're misreading the forum title, it's easier if you see it as "Gameplay issues and bugs" and "technical issues and bugs".

Wanting to skip or remove the cutscenes goes in suggestions.
  8. Hey, be fair. He does tend to make some of the best bases in the game. It's because he thinks in terms of Legos cemented together with cheese, though...
  9. Why don't they just randomly send them to players with active accounts through email? It's definitely more fair as a contest than what they do now, and everyone actually has a chance. Heck, people with multiple accounts even have a better chance. And it eliminates the hated "But I work all day and can't refresh the forums and two networking widgets I don't even use" situation.
  10. Good news, though I'd rather have them do more Bast ard!! than Berserk. I need my Exploder Wizard and Thunder Empress fixes!
  11. Are you running the game as an administrator?

    MM zone bug

Are you really saying the SS aura is the same as 6 pets at the BM taking up space?
  13. I have this problem occasionally as well, just click Ok or whatever the choice is that isn't cancel, and you should be fine. It'll update the game files normally and you can play like usual.

Hasten's the tricky one. I might have to take slots out of Vengeance, but since I'm mostly soloing lately, that's not likely going to be a problem (I'll lose some accuracy and recharge from set bonuses...but Hasten!)
Kind of surprised you don't have Placate on a NW already, Placate means an extra crit.

As for the Hasten slotting, yeah, slots from Vengeance are probably a safe bet. Heck, that power is great right out of the box and I frequently don't place any extra slots in it myself. Especially since it's mostly a "Oh Crap!" power, and good teams almost never have deaths anyway.
  15. Maybe he's referring to the fact that, theoretically, you might not get the full benefit of the procs if your fury has your damage too close to the cap with other factors? Other than that, can't think of a single way it could dilute the damage.

And even if somehow it'd put you over the cap at full fury, that won't happen often, and you won't always have full fury anyway.
  16. It all depends on your AT and powersets, but as an example, my blaster will be taking Stealth to slot some extra LotG +Recharge, as will a few other sets. I have a couple of toons that will be replacing Fitness with Leadership since most of those are great right out of the box. My brutes will migrate towards getting the healing powers like Aid Self.

And a few will just take another travel pool, can't ever have too many travel options even with ninja run and jetpacks!

Personally, i'd prefer them just allowing you to take the powers earlier and without prerequisites - not making them inherent.
I think you meant that SOME powers without at least 3 slots are useless, because there's a whole mess of them in the power pools that are fine out of the box. Stealth pool, any of the travel powers except teleport, CJ, most of the leadership pool, hasten, air superiority, and I'm sure there are quite a few I'm missing. Even primaries and secondaries have powers that work just fine without any extra slotting.

You may be confusing set bonuses with powers, however. Many otherwise fine-at-1-slot powers end up with extra slots simply because of the IO sets that can go in them. That doesn't change the effectiveness of the powers, however, merely the utility.

And really, it's a rare build that puts extra slots in anything but Health and Stamina in the fitness pool :P
  18. Hrm, may have to test this out. Does it count for PvP defeat badges? Do PvP recipes drop? Inquiring minds want to know.
  19. Well, I can see right away you're having some problems with your video drivers. It tends to report them as the 1/1/0001 00:00:00 date and time when there's a conflict. Check for the latest drivers on the website, disable your current drivers, reboot and run Driver Cleaner, reboot again, then install the new drivers.
  20. NPC's will always be able to do things that PC's can't simply because they can't adapt like a PC can. So don't expect NPC's to stop stacking Vengeance, or Illusionists to stop attacking while Phased, or the mobs to stop targeting a player as they rez even though players can no longer keep a rezzing mob targeted.

There is no tab in the Help menu -that HAS to be accessed with /help because some players were too stupid to look in the Options window and ruined the functionality of the [Help] channel - for the e-mail system -- and you are perfectly right that there was no mention anywhere about the 30 day window.

The Customer Service people are going to have quite a job on their hands rectifying this situation.
Luckily for them, a majority of players won't know that they should /petition about this - regardless of the /gmotd. They will just get very upset at the situation and maybe quit the game.

The MOST sad part about this is that I'm assuming that the e-mail will eventually go the way of the Auction Houses that used to have a 60-day pull-it-or-loose-it policy and e-mails won't ever expire. At least the Auction Houses Reps told you that you would lose items left there for more than 60-days when that situation was still in effect. This never needed to happen from that point of view alone - if it works for the Auction House to store X bins of things per character why is it taking up so much space to store the same information and a limited amount of ASC text in 20 files per account? I can almost guarantee that within a year two e-mails won't be expiring any more.

As players, we all put our trust in the DEVs to do the correct thing and give us all the information. I'm seeing a bit too much information hording going on.

I still don't know how many new slots we will be getting the CoH:GR. I can't believe that I'm the only one that has asked about that.
heck for all I know - at this point - those new slots could expire in 30 days ...right? ... regardless if there are characters are in them or not ... (.... let alone how many we will be getting ...)
Hiding the number of slots is not boding well with me. It has been sticking in my craw for a while and I've been keeping quiet, but this e-mail thing ... I'm really not liking the way that this has been handled ...

"Thank you for your patience and understanding with this matter." ????

    How about ...

"We made a grievous error by not informing our loyal player base about this part of the new e-mail mechanic. The system was provided for your convenience and not to cause distress. We are greatly sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused.
"We are always doing our best to bring you the best gaming experience possible, and we will do everything we can in the future to provide complete and accurate descriptions of any new functionality in the game and on the website. Unfortunately, we are human and we dropped-the-ball on this one. It was entirely our fault. Please forgive us for this oversight. We are working hard to bring you a quality product.
"Thank you for subscribing to City of Heroes."

    nah ...

"Take that and like it, fanboy!"

    That sounds much better, right?!?
First off, you're assuming quite a bit that the devs "dropped the ball" on anything other than failing to inform everyone of the 30 day limit. Players were trying to work the system, they got burned. The devs are replacing the stuff lost, and going forward players know about the limit and will, even though they'll continue to use email as extra slots, know to remove the emails before they vanish. They explained what happened, why it happened, and are restoring what was lost. To think they need to do more is rather outrageous.

Secondly, the devs don't need to give us all the information about the game, nor should anyone expect them to. It's amazing they give as much info as they do. To expect them to tell us everything is bordering on insanity.

And thirdly, complaining about not knowing how many slots GR gives you because they may "go away" in 30 days is a fallacy. One would not reasonably believe that enhancement, recipe, or character slots would go away after a period of time. So why bring up such an unlikely, even impossible example to try and support your paranoia? Keeping information about a new product secret is normal, especially for games.

Somehow I have RMT emails from last friggin' summer, and they ALL HAVE THE SAME HEADING and IDENTICAL CONTENT, yet those we get to keep forever until we manually delete them ourselves, but if, god forfend you haven't picked up your self-directed email in a month, well, THOSE, by golly are going to be deleted just because, boy howdy, they feel like it.
One might ask what YOU are blathering about. Your post screams of paranoia and the mistaken belief that the devs have nothing better to do than to troll you JUST SO THEY HAVE TO FIX IT AFTERWARDS. You're REALLY claiming they deleted everything because they have so much free time and energy to ask you to tell them what was lost so they can give it back?

The email system was assume by players to be 30 more recipe/enhancement slots, and players found out they were wrong. And while I wholeheartedly agree that the patch notes should have included the info about the 30 day limit, you can't argue that players wouldn't scream bloody murder as well if it HAD been included from the start. At least this way the devs are trying to fix that lack of knowledge and actively make sure that everyone knows going forward. To accuse them of doing it just to make your life miserable is petty and small. It's not as if they expand or keep the player base by seeing just what people will let them get away with.
  23. Why would I have to look at a chart to say it's about 3rd?

It's burst damage(what I'd call spike damage) is incredible, and unless you're fighting nothing but AV's and GM's, anything you DO fight is dead in a hit or two.

As for those charts, I can't find any DPS chart by Starsman, and Bill's seems to have it against Brutes, which sure makes it hard to beat a full Fury meter and the 600% damage cap, even with crits.

In any event, if you're right and those other powersets so far outperform things, perhaps it should be brought to the Devs attention like Shield Defense was so it can be slated for some heavy duty nerfing? Everything is supposed to be the same it seems.
