New Super PC but struggling to play CoH :(

Posted

Just got this gamer PC yesterday and I'm struggling to play CoH on minimum settings let alone Ultra Mode. It handles Ultra Mode well but as soon as I get into a fight situation or on a mission, it lags out and crashes. I suspect it might be my slow net connection. Any advice?

looks like bad video drivers. try getting new ones.

Well, I can see right away you're having some problems with your video drivers. It tends to report them as the 1/1/0001 00:00:00 date and time when there's a conflict. Check for the latest drivers on the website, disable your current drivers, reboot and run Driver Cleaner, reboot again, then install the new drivers.

How? ATI website downloads?

Edit: Kay thanks guys. Any helpful little links?

Here we go... does this mean graphics drivers are now fixed?

It does indeed appear as though it's fixed. The report says you've got a driver version slightly newer than mine (which works fine but is soon to be updated). Your sound card drivers seem to want updating too, although they aren't as important for the smooth running of the game.

One side uses mind police and will "disappear" you and the other uses poison gas and bombs on civilians. Hamidon? He'll just have a tree eat you. Much simpler. If we're all going to be oppressed and/or killed by someone, it might as well be the walking trees. At least they don't speak in annoying code or doublespeak. They just devour you.

Maybe I need to do it this way specifically then because I'm still getting spikes, lag and crashes both in minimum settings and Ultra Mode.

Where can I get a Driver Cleaner programme? I don't see one on my system. Must I pay for a copy?

Also the rest of your CoHHelper file is cut off. Can't tell what settings you are running your game at.

You know after all that it turned out to be some dodgy antivirus software that came with the PC that was causing all the problems. Stayed up all night trying to fix this and its one damn little overzealous software holding me back. Anyways thanks to all who've helped me with this issue. Very kind of you.

Let me guess, Norton? Way back in the 90's Norton was the go-to for utilities and AV; unfortunately it's been becoming more and more bloatware and intrusive. I wouldn't use Norton as a frisbee nowadays, far less actually install the thing.

I've had good luck with either Avast! or Avira for antivirus, they're both free and they both do a good job.

Wasnt even Norton. Something called Bullguard or something. The name says it all really. I'll download Avast then .
