Berserk returns to anime

This is amazing news, Sho! I remember being so disappointed at the ending of the anime series as it was released, seeing it finish at the end of the prologue without some much deserved retribution.

I watched the series over a course of a few months, and actually forgot the show started with supernatural elements. I must've been more surprised when the moth sprite first showed up than the characters in the show.

...and added to the ol' netflix queue.

Yet one of the many anime that I've never seen, but after reading about it, looks like one of the few that may appeal to me.

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

I swear the author is writing himself into a corner. he probably plans to die of old age before finishing it

One of the things I like about what I saw wss, for the US Dub, at least (I think), was the bloopers at the end where they have the voice actors going of on monologues and mistakes

The manga starts with surprise demon sex.

I find myself wondering if they're going to start from the beginning again or if they're going to pick up where the last one left off... ya know since it ended on a cliffhanger.

Also one of my favorite series... and the sole reason I hold out hope for some sort of great sword power set.

You mean when griffin became a demon lord? That wasn't the start at all.
That's like 30+ chapters in.

No, the first demon Guts kills in the manga. It happens within a couple of pages in the first volume.

I'm wondering if this one will include the Golden Age arc, with the super natural stuff, or start right after that with the demon stuff in full swing.

Good news, though I'd rather have them do more Bast ard!! than Berserk. I need my Exploder Wizard and Thunder Empress fixes!

This is the best news of the year for me. Berserk is one of my favorite mangas of all time. I hope they are truer to the manga this time around. I'm glad they're doing a remake, otherwise, it wouldn't make much sense since so much was omitted the first time around.

Actions speak louder than Vets.

The original Berserk anime would have been better if they kept that ending out of it. They removed quite a few supernatural elements from the story, then surprise you with this ending. I am not sure if there was any supernatural elements in the anime aside from the ending. The original anime worked better as a standard historical military fantasy.

The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.

The first episode had supernatural elements as far as I can recall. Then they went into exploring Guts's past.

I sincerely hope that this new anime will FINALLY lead to a re-release of the Dreamcast game, and a US release of the PS2 game.

There was, like, one or two scenes of it spread across twenty-something episodes. I actually thought the way it was handled was pretty good. There was just enough foreshadowing, just enough going on behind the curtain, that when it gets exposed, it really floors you. In the manga, the fantasy element is so constant that it's never really anything special. In the anime, the couple of times it does happen, it really manages to elicit a "OH CRAP" reaction.

I agree that something should have been done with the ending, rather than just the cut away "and then he survived somehow and is out for revenge", though if they used the "original" solution, that probably wouldn't have worked either.

Yes about time in my opinion. But been busy reading manga so up to volume 23 currently. I highly recommend it the anime leaves so much of the story out.
