There are SG bases?
[/ QUOTE ] Cute. Truthfully, there are many, many reasons to go to a base like my SG's when you die. 1. Once you appear at 25% health, /bug the rez circle/reclamator. 2. Refill your insps at the bins or at the Autodoc/Tree of Wonders. 3. Go to the Empowerment Station and take a few powers to help you win that battle you just lost.
There are also reasons to use the base besides as a rez point. We have porters to every zone. We have a Pillar of Ice and Flame in the base. (It's a Control item, so look for it there.) We have an Invention Room with 2 worktables and a vault. We have a lot of Halloween salvage to let new toons get their 2nd costume slot immediately. It's a safe place to park your toon when you are going AFK for dinner so you don't auto-log.
I just want it to work the way it's supposed to! (Robo-surgery should attach to the Reclamator, and our SG Logo (and a few others) should appear on the banners, floorplates, podiums, etc.)

1) Number of Storage Containers in the base don't increase from basic base to the next larger one?!
2) Can't set Individual Security levels for Storage? New Members eithr have NO access or TOTAL access.
3) We cant sort the items in storage? Fining what we want thru the hundreds of items is fustrating!
4) Data on who put what in vanishes after a couple weeks?!
5) Alot of the neat items are so large they are just about unusable!!
6) Add plot size needed as well as Prestige needed to a item's details!!
7) Editing the base is HELL... it takes 4 hours to do what should only take 1 hour since some items you can only move and not deleate without losuing the prestige needed to construct them!! ( A Holding area for these items would be a good fix )
8) When you upgrade the size of several of the rooms, the number of devices the rooms can hold do not increase!!
9) We need more and different sized rooms so we aren't stuck with unused space in our designs.
10) Signs or Mouseover details are needed for STORAGE so we can describe who has access and what the items are for. We also need mouseover info for the Veteran Reward Trophies!!

Dude. ENOUGH already. You've expressed your displeasure that Bases aren't mentioned in LH's post. You've done so multiple times now. You're not helping yourself. You're just coming across as a whiny brat, and the odds are good that you're more likely to convince a developer to LOWER the priority of working on Bases, than to increase it!
Let it rest ... please!

Second, I would like to ask that NCSoft also take some time to look at customer service. It's not horrendous, but its' not great either. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Ten times out of ten, if I report a violation of a Marvel copyright, that character is genericed. However, nine times out of ten, if it's not Marvel, it seems they don't care. I've reported a guy with a nearly exact copy of Spawn (by Todd McFarlane) three times now, he's still in the game with the same costume. I could give many other examples. Also, I'd like to see better logging and tracking of what goes on in the Consignment House/Black Market, because I've "lost" over 25 million due to glitches that customer service can't find any info in their logs, so they can't recompensate me.
Overall, I love City of Heroes, but like all games, it has it's problems, and for me the problem with City of Heroes is not up to par what I expect for a game I pay $15 a month to play. Also, I will again say, I am not saying customer service is horrendous, just that there needs to be some definite improvement (especially on the issue of only seeming to protect Marvel copyrights. While I understand Marvel is the company that sued NCSoft, if they don't fairly and consistently protect all trademark and copyright violations in their game, another company may sue, and if they can show inconsistency, a judge will not be nice to NCSoft a second time, and neither will the suing party.)
[/ QUOTE ] You have the nerve to say support is bad just because someone doesnt get genericed? How about all the petitions I have sent for missions where the mob is stuck in the wall and I dont get an answer ingame until 2 to 3 weeks later? All the task/strike forces I have had to disband because the gm help never shows up after 3 hour wait. Seriously your priorities are in the wrong place.

Statements like "our plan is to release x new issues in '08".
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, I had this question last night.
If any red names are still reading this, is the plan to still stick with three issues this year? Or will we see fewer formal "Issues" and more "in-betweeners"?
Things are looking good so far, but it would be nice to know the general release plan for 2008 for the Issue Roadmap.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's definitely more coming in 2008! But, as we started off saying, we're not quite ready to reveal those larger initiatives. So, for now, we stuck with highlighting what is coming in the shorter term.

Now FIX THE DANG BASES!!! It's been long enough that certain SG logos don't display on the SG logo items, and the dang Rez Circle/Reclaimator (BTW, the word is "Reclamator") STILL won't allow attachments! PLEASE fix this! We worked our fingers off to get that Healing badge to increase the rez circle's ability. To have the Robo-Surgery not attach is basically a broken promise.
[/ QUOTE ]
How about making the Orbit of Control smaller so they fit in the 2x2 room like the tech equivalent of that base item. Or make the arcane tp beacons pictures more clear so you know what zone it is without having to click on it.

Dude you give it a rest, Bases are a legitimate concern that do need to be addressed. How else will devs know if we dont bring stuff up? Lastly who are you to tell us what we can and can not talk about in this thread?

Did you miss the part where the Devs said how taking on extra staff would allow them to focus on fixing bases?
I am not going to ask what is coming down the line. I know you can't tell us Lighthouse. I just want some simple answers about what is even on the radar. Not any promises or "this will happen soon(tm)". I just want to know wether the devs considder the following problems. That is a surer indicator of long term survivability.
"Issues that we wonder whether the devs are even looking in to(tm)." :
1- Two expansions have focussed (to a greater or lesser degree) on PVP. PVP remains hideously unbalanced. No steps have been taken to make it work. No meanigful steps have really been taken since CoV release. Is this off the table? Is CoX PVP dead so far as future expansions are concerned? More broadly, players do not like to see a sizable part of the game languish and die due to a lack on concern on the devs part. If it can happen to the PVPers it can happen to them. The long term survial of CoX does depend on the answer.
2- Hero/Villain balance remains a huge sticking point. Any objective accounting of content, zones, badges, accolades, Epic ATs, expansions, (etc., etc., ad nauseum) favors the heroes. Does this strike the devs as an issue or no? Can we expect more of the same or is love for the villains even considdered "on the radar"? If the rule of "any expansion must adress both sides equally" is still the rule, then the hero/villain disparity has been enshrined for all eternity. Thus, two equally costly products (CoH and CoV) have had a huge disparity in the time and energy devoted to them. Does this not bother the devs? The long term survial of CoX does depend on the answer.
3- The resistance vs. defense disparity has seen some patches and make shift work, but it does not work yet. Just ask any toon with a maxxed out defense set how well it works. So long as more accurate foes undo the defenses of such protection sets this will never be fixxed. This will (I realize) require changes to the basic combat engine. Not a small task. This makes me think that it is off the table forever and resistance sets will continue to be the beter deal (with fewwer slots invested in them too boot!). Do the devs even considder it a problem? This problem is ultimately not about the protection sets, but rather, about the "problem fixxing paradigm" of the devs. More to the point, is producing a permenant fix for fundamental problems part of the devs' vision? Or are makeshift patches the rule? The long term survial of CoX does depend on the answer.
4- Drum roll please... STALKERS. One tenth of the basic ATs is broken. It has been broken (in a PVE sense) since the begining. What's more, the dev rule for adressing the problems seems to be a special one reserved only to Stalkers. Other ATs get balancing attention and the reply with regards to PVP, is "we will see". On the other had, any change to Stalkers is approached like it is radioactive and must be proved and double proved to be harmless to PVP before implimented. Thus, nothing really has been implimented. In the end, this question has less to do with Stalkers than it does with double standards. Players are unlikely to keep playing a game where this sort of uneven treatment is the norm. If it can happen to one AT, it can happen to others. Good player/customer morale depends on them not hunkering down and waiting for the other boot to drop. Likewise, good player/customer morale depends on the belief that all integral aspects of the game are treated fairly and not written off. The long term survial of CoX does depend on the answer.
5- Few promises are made, but the ones that are made must be kept. IOPs and bases are an issue that I am not sure you fully apreciate. Contents are subject to change, we know. But promises made on the product box are a deal enforcable by law (if needs be). If you can disregard that one, then nothing is safe. Again, see player morale above. For the record, simply never delivering is not a "change during play". Simple ethical behaivior would require a good faith effort to make IOPs, meaningful PVP, and meanigful Base Raids a real part of the game. Do the devs even care about this one? If the attitude is that "no follow through on this one is OK" or that "we appologized, so we don't have to fix it" then trouble is ahead. When the devs do make promises, do you intend to keep them? The long term survial of CoX does depend on the answer.
There you go. I have tried to address this to the attitude of the devs and design teams. THAT is what will ultimately determine the State of the Game in the years to come.

When the same person harps on the same subject in the same thread - where that subject is not the Topic - then they're the one that needs to give it a rest.
I'd far rather see thirty different people come in and ask "What about bases?", once each ... than see one person ask "What about bases", five times.

As a total aside, btw: I find that news of expansion-and-focus to be welcome news; perhaps NC^2 will be able to assign two or three folks as "the Base team", giving full-time work to the needs of base design and construction on a permanent basis. New parts, improved UI, fixing bugs, etc.
1 agreed
2 agreed
3 Not agreed. Defense has sufficient benefit in not being subjected to all sorts of debuffs and control effects that makes up for the slightly less protecting against actual damage compared to resist sets.

Wavicle, Energy/Energy Blaster, dinged 50 in Issue 4, summer of 2005.
@Wavicle, mostly on the Justice server.
ok item one, stop worrying about bring in more badges and costume pieces, there's enough in the game now!. focus more on making the game world more fun with content, not add content just to say we have that 2!( like inovations- crafting system) !
I ask my self that very question every day! lol
[ QUOTE ]
P.S., could I get a couple more character slots on Liberty? I like my collection of 50s there, and I really don't want to start over on another of those scary alien servers.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know, they've tossed the idea around [well, more like dangled a carrot] about adding more servers, or server space, or even merging the servers. But looking at the character slots, sadly I hate to admit, but there isn't much room left for squeezing in more alts... they'd start to get hard to read. =(
But we'll see. They've added more before. And they know how alt happy we all are, and how attached many of us get to our toons.
HEY! You leave my costume pieces alone
[ QUOTE ]
I'm more interested in how this real numbers stuff will affect all those great character builder programs out there like Mids' . Seems like a shame that all that effort on the part of fans being wasted now that the devs have finally caught up to what the players want in this regard.
[/ QUOTE ]
Those programs will still have a utility for a player to "map-out" how they may want to build a character. I have many Vet respecs for my Toons, which will allow me to easily take advantage of the new in game stats. But a friend of mine who has played for less than 6 months uses those programs so that he can avoid excessive respecs.
It will also make thos programs more Accurate. Thus Perhaps more peeps will want to use them (especially non-Alt-a-holics) if they decide to make a new Toon, unlike others they have played (or played recently).
Although I have made only limited use of those programs myself, I have made considerable use of the forums, and the guides and other postings made bythose who DO use them.
My GREATFUL THANKS to All of those who contributed to these character builder and stats programs and forums, as well as to those who shared the knowledge they gained from those programs. Due to my military duties (and deployments) over the years, it has been much easier to read forums and guides than to use those fine interactive programs.
THANKS! again for all of the contributions made!

I would prefer a Single Pistol (for Heroes), but any sort of Blaster Pistol Power Set is something I have been waiting for since the Beta!
I would also like to see an option for Energyand Electrical Blasters to have an Energy Pistol/Blaster/Phaser (actually a choice of of them like the Assualt Riffle, etc Power Sets). But that would be a much lower priority than for a PISTOL power set!

Speak for yourself. I joined CoH the day after i5 went Live, and it's only gotten better with every issue, since then. I *love* Oroboros, even though I'm such an altoholic that I have few characters in range to use it. I *love* Inventions. I *love* my Vet Rewards. I *loved* the Second Rikti War, and still love the RWZ (even though I have VERY few characters able to get into it).
Is it perfect? No. But, no game ever will be.
