Quote:Thanks, and done...now ur quote of my original post is the only bad link left...Please please update your links for the Wiki to:
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Main_Page
That one is old, outdated and potentially full of viruses etc through the ads.
And yeah, it's boomtown. -
Stop talking to yourself!

Well...from a non-rp point of view I tend to value sgs for the same reason I value people in real life (aside from #5 which I apply to leaders)..Here's the questions that go through my head when I'm getting to know a sg/vg:
1. Are they available? Got to have someone to team with or at least chat with in sg.
2. Are they accessible? Easy to talk to, willing to help/listen, non-degrading. Leader's that insult, look down on, or otherwise ignore lowbie toons and/or noobs just don't know how to lead.
3. Do they have a sense of humor? This is huge for me. I play a game to have fun, not to forge and establish my personal identity or to flash my e-peen.
4. Are they cooperative/flexible? versus unyielding or outright dictatorships. Willing to take suggestions, to learn and to do what's best for the sg, not just for their prestige and uber base.
5. Can they (leaders) actually lead? Do they run tfs, pugs, farms, costume contests, raids, or w/e...and not only that, but more importantly, do they train up and coming leaders in how to recruit/explain/and help others out? What fail there is in promoted up and comers being consumed with *power* and *rank*, and flexing those things to new recruits. Leaders have to model how they want their lieutenants and generals to act towards lowbies. Respect is a big thing here. Leader's shouldn't demand it, but apply it.
Heck, I'll take 3 out of 5 and be happy....I can even deal with *fail* on 4 and 5 if leaders have a sense of humor and tend to get along with everyone...sure they may be manipulative sucky leaders, but if I can have fun with them I give em a pass...at least for a little while. -
Hey hey, I appreciate this channel oodles of noodles..and I even helped weed out at least one person who didn't know what they had in Virtue LFG Alpha. Here's a mid morning chat session that happened recently
random toon <Virtue LFG Alpha>: is there anyone even on here?
me <Virtue LFG Alpha>:NO! Go away we don't want any!
random toon <Virtue LFG Alpha>: well that anwers that (QUITS!)
What followed was four or five other people shocked that this random toon would quit over that friendly little ribbing. If you would like to hire me to weed through the rest of the channel and get others to quit whom don't know what they have in this channel please message me at @Eye HurtzUrF3elingz. Ecake makes for good payment. -
I'd say turn up your volume and open your windows at the same time you hear them playing. Pique their interest also.
But there are so many risks involved here, just because you play the same game just means 1 similarity. With dashes of etiquette you could:
A. Knock on the door with a fake excuse to do so. "I'm making a cake and need some eggs. Could I borrow/buy some from you?" This would be recon to get a bead on who is actually playing. If they're friendly enough and *maybe* invite you in while they hunt for eggs or w/e, assess who it may be.
If it's a kid: you're a creep (abort further inquiry) unless, of course, you're a kid also.
If it's the opposite sex: your a potential stalker/perv/internet cyborzer (proceed with EXTREME caution about the game)
If it's the elderly or your same gender, acceptable age range (you define): strike up a conversation.
"Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought I heard a game being played here that I also enjoy. Does City of Heroes ring a bell?"
B. Put a note on whatever posterboard there is in their building complex that only CoXers would understand. "Looking for more players of City of Heroes, Virtue Server, Hami Raids, RP, and Local Static Grouping nightly. Call meh." or w/e. This may take weeks for the person to notice.
C. Heck. Be brave and call their apartment. Nothin wrong with a phone call, telemarketers lambast us all the time, how refreshing would it be to have a fellow player call you out of the blue? You know their address, find the number. when they're playing call them up, you can smooth out the details here.
....and think of the worst possible response you may get "NO I'M NOT INTERESTED IN PLAYING WITH YOU, YOU FRIGGIN IDIOT, LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!!" (or something like that). That's really not so bad, just leave em alone. /e shrug. -
As far as team play....geeez stalkers. I know I know..some of you can make it work...but for me stalkers just don't fit....
Overall though, had a hard time getting into the epics...I'm sure theerreeeee great! but just haven't seen the light on those yet. Too busy having fun with other builds.... -
You'd think this would be affecting freedom to as I've seen them hit the triple red dots fastered than virture recently...but nope, got on to freedom just fine.
-
well...got it working after fiddling with stuff... just mr. glitchy glitchy making me itchy bitchy..
-
My base is well powered...are u saying I need something extra beyond what I have?
-
I have what is necessary for this item, place it in the appropriate place, exit editor and.....
it just turns out to be a huge useless decoration...(unable to access, use, etc)
Obviously I'm doing something wrong, please correct my buffonary -
Lol yeah...Galaxay city is a Dead Zone..only visited to get to mr. Jack Wolfe to respec, or for badge hunting. Praetoria is a viable different option to Atlas Park or the sewers (aka Mercy Island).
-
The one I've had for years related to pimpin is my 50 fire/kin... imp-daddy
-
Way to mark things clearly devs
Still I'm glad for the free transfers -
Are they up? If so how do they work? All I see is the option to "Buy Character Transfer"...someone knock me in the head with knockledge.
-
I'd get reacquainted with all the nuances of RP on Virtue as provided in some of the guides.
but yeah, like everyone else said, Virtue is RP heaven for CoX... many choose to hang out in Atlas Park or Pocket D, but is by no means limited to those areas. -
meh. I'm leaving stuff up.
MONIES IS NO PROBLUMS FOR TEH HEROS! -
So clarify this further...if a Hero goes fully Villian, or Villian fully Hero..and they stay a member of their old SG/VG do they still earn prestige? From what I gather, everything is put on hold, including the ability to earn prestige for the SG/VG. But make it unequivically clear for fogheads like meh.

Thanks for all the support and advice...
as per the money....been around long enough to have quite a stash, a billion is nothing to turn ur nose up to, but really....I have enough to spend and spread around without having to deal with this guy/gal any more than I have to. I'm not a flaunter, see no need to, but bottom line is I can go out and make another billion if I really want it. My conscience would bother me ripping someone off like that...even if they deserve it etc...
as per Virtue server, I'm highly thrilled to be here, despite the occasional fruits and nuts.
as per suggestions I appreciate the guidance on the "great divide" that should be between ic and ooc. For the most part I get it....I believe, however, immature minds (irregardless of age) really destroys the fun of RP.
All in all I just see this incident as isolated, perhaps even a joke of some kind from the perpetrator, but it by no means out weighs the fun I've had on Virtue thus far. -
Okay....I'm a recent Freedom transfer to Virtue, but certainly am not new to the game. I know about RPing, have participated in "bad" rping in that I recognize I suck at, but am willing to try and learn. (I think my downfall is I just can't bring myself to stand around and rp and so try and do it while: leading a mission, recruiting for a sg, recruiting a PuG, killing badies, getting badges..etc etc).
My question is specifically when does RPing cross the line in terms of personal attack, offensive language etc? As a follow up I'm curious if all you experienced ones have a code as to when/if said line has been crossed.
For the most part what RPing I have participated in since I've transfered to Virtue has been fun and instructive (if not rushed, but that's my fault).
The one big glaring exception was a lv. 50 new recruit into a newly formed SG, I guess because he liked the name. He proceeded to offer me 400mil to make him a leader. Kind instruction to read the SG desc for how promotions work. He proclaims his everlasting love and offers me 1Bil to be a leader. At this point I treat him like a drug dealer and just say NO....(mouse is sliding to the "kick sg memeber" button)
...mass tells of how he's going to kill my family, children, dog, and grandma... in graphic terms no less... (here's where I believe the line is crossed)
...kicked from sg...but I invite him to a team...I ask him "wtf was that?"
He says, "((I'm rping))"
Blah...sounds to me like "RPing" in this case was just an excuse to wail into some random dude without the repercutions of having to follow the rules. Petitioned for personal harrassment.
Help me understand what I did wrong or right here with this "mentally challenged" rper... -
...but at least we'd be playing cox in the past present ...as opposed to not playing cox now... yet we have played cox in the real past, so we wouldn't be loosing anything then except to look forward with dread to now when we aren't playing cox. Even time travel scenarios suck atm.
