The 2008 State of the Game

Anyway, since they are clearly moving away from jack's vision of a 'game without tankmages', it makes one wonder if Kheldians may finally be made useful?

I mean 'jack of all trades, master of none' is a great idea, but all that silver bullet kryptonite stuff, while interesting from a story point of view, has always been way, way too much of an achilles heel for the 'epic archetype'. I wish that Kheldians were a reward instead of a punishment.

They are. Quite useful in fact. Just about have my second Kheldian 50, fwiw.

"Epic" = storyline. 1-50 storyline of their own. Epic does not mean "God mode."

And it's hardly an achilles heel. They're just not a big issue once you learn to look for them.

I never get this view. If you don't like them, don't play them. I know I like my peacebringer and really like my warshade.

Ok, all of this sounds really great! But, it still seems as though CoX is worried more about what the CoH players want than what the CoV players want. I've been playing Villains for 24 mos. and the biggest complaint I hear on CoV is that we still have not gotten our Epics. CoX started announcing them 3 issues ago and we STILL have not gotten them. This is very annoying. Given, we have gotten alot of great stuff in each issue, but nothing that heroes hasn't got. My big question is: Why announce something that you are not prepared to give or at least update us on?

Killing a void and or Q isn't that hard. In fact it only gets easier.

My Kheldians actively hunt them. They go down fast when you hit them first and hit them with everything.

We need some new mission maps!! We keep going into the same ole buildings and the same ole caves. That's what really needs to be upgraded.

Just out of curiosity, what do you mean “Vista 64” compatible? I am running the game on Windows Vista Business 64-bit with no issues other than the compatible cursors (running in windowed mode for that). I have noticed SIGNIFICANT improvement in speed and graphic quality when I disable Aero (both at home and at work).

I look forward to additions 2008 will bring....since we're seeing more of the Nictus(especially on hero side). Is it true their going to introduce the Nictus-AT for Villains?? Either way i am excited!!

One thing I would like to see added in 2008 is the option to move a villian to the hero side and to change a hero to a villian. It would be cool to start out as a villian/hero and roleplay why you changed to the other side.

i guess this is just a personal peeve, but i wish youd stop calling game updates 'free expansions'.

every pay to play online game updates and expands there game as it progresses through patches, these are not some unique 'free expansions' we are getting, they are simply patches and updates to the game

[/ QUOTE ]

Patch = fixes bugs, adds new minor functionality (e.g. "real numbers"), adds functionality that was advertised but not implemented.

Expansion = adds new content (e.g. Ouroboros), major functionality (e.g. new powers, new archetypes)

I don't see any problem with calling the issues "expansions" - they are.

That would be awesome to have a nictus archtype for villains! Maybe there will be a new line of nictus for us hehehe.

The State of the Game, tonight my friends, is strong, vibrant and better than it has ever been before. Tonight, I am proud to say that the State of City of Heroes and Villains proves that you CAN bring fun, thought and diversity to the MMO scene and make it work. After nearly four years of this best MMO game in existence, let the world know: We are here and we aren't going anywhere. Long live Paragon City and the Rogue Isles.
