Ms. Thunderbird is a Magic Tanker, Karl. A firey aura/stone melee tanker. At 4'1" tall, she is tiny but of course, proving that you can't judge a book by its cover. :-)

Well my Forumite friends of past and now, I, your longtime Paladin, Shameless Agitator and ever loyal CoH guy has finally.. FINALLY reached that level so long in the making. Saturday night at 10:36 PM PST, 5 years, 3 months and 29 days after this great game started and my first character: Ms. Thunderbird was recreated from the BETA to the live game.. achieved 50!
5 plus years of this great game has rewarded me with my first level 50 character, out of 27 characters in my stable of heroes and villains. It has, and will continue to be an incredible experience as this great game gives all of us even more cool stuff to do, to be and to roleplay through.
If you ever find yourselves in game and come across Ms. Thunderbird, any of the other 26 characters or see the global name of MasonicTemplar.. that's me.. join in and come along for another great ride.. so much more to do and so many more characters to do it with.
And as for Ms. Thunderbird? No, she won't be retired.. not in the least. She will continue to do so many things she missed doing (thanks to Oro), some new challenges (maybe even PVP), and of course, helping newbies and lowbies as she always has done... and maybe, just maybe, some will actually join her supergroup: The Myths and Legends Coalition and have even more fun.
First 50... to say its exciting is a really, REALLY awful understatement! -
Boy this topic will never go away will it? Hehe.. yeah well, Jack is gone and he works for a rival now, a rival that used to be our owner! There is no love loss between the games to be sure and I don't think we will see a lot of "good luck to you" type well wishes for that OTHER pretender to the Superhero genre.. still.. what Jack did and did not do is well talked about even now.. I have said it before but will say it again: We really need to move on folks.. this awesome game of ours is moving forward and getting better all the time, that is really and probably where our focus should be.. just my .02 influence.

So for the last near seven months I have been away from the game I love for all time: COH.. I finally got my net back this week and I am giddy with excitement for all the updates and seeing the new forums (Which look great by the way!!). I am glad to see some ol' friends like Samuel Tow and Prof. Backfire are still here, I am hoping many of my old mates are still around. It is great to be back in game!!! Good to be here on these new forums as well.. anyway, time to get to heroing!!! I have really missed this place!
So Mote It Be. -
When you think that the music played at each zone is "Too Loud! Turn it down!"...

Appreciated Xalaqia, just the bad economy mixed with business at work and trying to catch up to more important bills to pay.. but I will be back in game by the end of the year (I hope).. you don't know what you got til its gone is absolutely one of the truest statements that can be made!
I am glad to see all the continued creativity here on the Forums.. keep up the good work as usual all.. this community is what sets this game apart from all others! -
*Enters the room and sits down* "I'm Mason2004, and I'm an altoholic.." Everyone nodded and says, "Hello Mason2004." I nod and continue, "Well you see it all started five years ago with this game called City of Heroes.." All in the room smile, nod and murmur about knowing the game. "..and you see I have a problem. I can't.. I can't stop making characters!" The room noods more and tries to give me morale support. "..and I know I can't help myself. I know.. I know... I am just going to continue to make more characters..." I am consoled by the members of the room and given well wishes.
I am an Altoholic.. and if you are one too, come join Altoholics Not So Anonymous (ANSA) and maybe you too can get a little empathy.. -
Hello and long time since I seen all here on the boards.. been away to long! Lost my internet and still hanging on by a thread but I am still here. Still don't have a computer (mine died) and no net still (excepting for my work and the library) but I am not gone.. not by a long shot!
MA was (and is) awesome. I am so glad to hear so many folks making storylines and good arcs. I can't wait to get back in the game!
Now with this Rogue storyline! SO freakin' cool!!
Even though I have been away from the boards and the game as of late I will let you all know that I have probably referred more than thirty people to our great game and continue to remind folks that the best game out there is this one right here!!
Champions Online and DC Online.. you two have no chance to survive. Sorry. City of Heroes IS THE ONLY hero game that has any clout or any relevance. :-)
Its good to be back.. well at least somewhat hehe -
Ill give this one a try soon Devious and give you the feedback you want.. sounds like a cool ARC, can't wait to try..

Great Stuff Dark Respite.. keep up the great work! Two thumbs up!

Hiya Templar. Thanks for sharing. I've been a comic book geek since I was 5. I remember my Mego action figures, playing Champions from grade school through college, and can probably rattle off animated shows from the original Super Friends to Ben 10: Alien Force that I enjoy to feed my superhero addiction.
But nothing beats being in Paragon City. I've been here since December of '05, and the wife started around three weeks after me. We supported one supergroup, founded another, and have good friends both inside and outside of the game. I think I speak for everyone when I say...
FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS!

And a great big HELLO back to ya Green Lantern 68!! -
So many stories.. it is so awesome to read and re-read the posts here.
How many of you just stood there and watched as the CoT did their rituals or watched the Clockwork do their tasks?
How many of you would swim through the lakes and streams to get to your destinations so you could avoid the mobs of enemies? How many of you wanted to stand on top of EVERY hero statue?
How many of you ran through the construction sites where the Arenas and the Universities would be?
Been there, done that.. and smile at the memory of it.
The Winter Lord, the Halloween specials, the appearance of all the GMs that were created for different zones.
I remember when the Hollows first opened and that I still probably havent travelled every inch of that zone.
..and of course, all the great heroes and villains with their awesome costumes and backgrounds... I wish I could meet them all...
what a ride it has been and continues to be. -
Wow, I love this response, and I appreciate it!!
You know, when CoV came to life, I went in and made my villains too and that same feeling I had the first time I made a character in CoH.. in fact, my first villain was basically created as the ultimate evil alter ego of Ms. Thunderbird. Her name is Sindreama Hades, and she is hell bent (my storyline) on destroying Ms. Thunderbird. She is nearly the mirror image (evil version) of Ms. Thunderbird!
Hades is a Brute with electric aura.. seeing that red electricity shoot out around her just made my altitis even worse... I was hooked all over again with worse side effects (hehe)... and it just keeps rolling. I have tried SO HARD to force myself to keep my alts under 20 in number, but with the new issues coming.. I know I wont be able to hold myself to that personal degree... which is ok.. hehe..
My entire imagination as it comes to my long thought of hero stories is so easy to create in COH/V.. it will forever continue... I love this game FAR TOO MUCH.. hehe oh well.. -
Man I also remember Ms. Thunderbird standing there against the council in a base with four newbies in tow.. I ran her in there and drew the entire room to me. My newbie hero followers were aghast! Their chats were "You're gonna die!", "What are you doing?", "You wont be able to stay in there", etc. etc. Ms. Thunderbird might be 4' tall and maybe 88lbs soaking wet, but she is a firey aura/stone melee tanker and even those Mechanical monsters that the Council own that were 3 times her size (and probably 100 times her mass) felt the power of her mallet and the burning of her aura.
The newbies behind me couldnt believe it.. this tiny tanker was more than a match for everything the Council threw at her. Soon we had them defeated. I was in the red in my health bar as the last Lt. ran up to engage me.. I consumed his endurance and with one heavy mallet swing I put him into the wall, again making one of the newbies go "Wow!"..
When we finished the mission and my new found newbie hero friends could not stop complimenting my hero.. they were impressed.. that was one of the best teaming experience I ever had... -
I tell ya, when I finally reached level 14 and took flight.. that entire DAY all I did was explore every zone I could. I flew and flew and flew.. I even flew to the top of the tallest building I could, ran off the ledge and let myself fall until I almost hit the ground turning flight on at the last moment and flying at full speed. I was exhilarated. One of my favorite moments ever....

Thank you Badstorm and to everyone else here on the Forums.. all of you are great. I wish I could get to know all of you because this community is the best and just another reason why I stick around. Great game, great people, great community.

May 1st, 2004. Four Years ago today that I became a member of this, the best MMORPG of all time. May 1st 2004. WOW! Has it really been this long? Four years has passed like a fast moving river under a bridge. What a wild ride it has been!
I wish I could say that I have the 48 month badge, but life and work took a little time out of my game playing time. Officially, by the numbers on my account page, I am a 3 year, 5 month veteran. Not too bad eh?
So much has happened since those crazy days in BETA.
I remember going through that first tutorial. It is still etched into my mind to this day. I ran around the tutorial zone just to see the sights! When I finally completed it I think I just about had an epiphany! There I was, standing at the base of the steps in Atlas Park and so overexcited at what was to come.
My first character Ms. Thunderbird The Incredible Everpresent Ms. Thunderbird was created in BETA as not only a character to test out all aspects of the game but to give me the satisfaction and sense of the newness of a character that would become the leader and founder (at least as far as my personal storyline goes) of the stable of heroes I soon would create. This ultimate, tiny "paladin" I had created and the story I created for her cemented me firmly into the mythos and atmosphere that is City of Heroes.
I remember the very first fight I had with my new character. I had leaped over the fence at the edge of Atlas Park (it took me three times to get over it) and into the street where some thug was trying to snatch the purse of some lady. Ms. Thunderbird pulled out that stone mallet that was nearly her own size and swung. I think I about jumped for joy hearing the hard "smack" she gave to that street urchin... I had become a "hero".
Boy did I ever feel like one. It was as if I was living right out of the comic books!
I remember my first journey into Kings Row for the mission arcs there. I had heard from a passing hero that if you worked at it, you could climb a building without using the fire escape stairs. So there I went trying to jump window sill to sindow sill to get to the top of buildings so I could find COT. Hehe.. I just can't believe so many of us did that!
The Ritki came, BETA ended, and the 3 day ahead of time gift that was given to us BETA players soon followed. Ms. Thunderbird now was official, as was the severity of my Altitis!! (I can proudly say that of all the characters I created in the first few months of City of Heroes going live. I have only deleted three out of those original twelve I made. Those nine are still rolling good to this day).
The issues began coming "Through the Looking Glass" to of course the now coming "Midnight Hour". I have looked forward to every one of them, and I cannot wait for the future issues.
I guess the greatest thing about this wonderful game is all the great people I have had the priviledge to fight beside. I know many of them have moved on but some remain. Some are even here, on these great Forums still, and I am thankful to them and to everyone here for making this game and this community the best ever.
Even though right now (and for the last eight months) I have not been able to play the game (I am currently caring for my father who was sick in the hospital all this time) I am keeping my membership active and my storylines increasing and my creative writing alive through the RP threads.
I am indeed addicted to this game, loyal to this game and can't wait to be able to play the game again when I finally get home later this year.
How long will I be here you ask? Until they close the last servers down and shut the doors for the last time.
If another version of City of Heroes replaces this one, then I'll migrate that way... nothing will change for me.
Heroes and Villians of my creation will still be added to, their "lives" and stories embellished and told as only I can tell them.
May 1st 2004-May 1st 2008... it really has been 4 years!
It has been and remains the best times of my gaming life. May it never, ever end.
My name is MasonicTemplar, and I most definetely approve this message. -
I hope everyone is enjoying reading the stories, I have so far.. they are great!!!

The seargeant quickly stood up and looked out the door and out the windows. "They may have followed us here. There is much danger in this assignment gentlemen. If you want a piece of this action and if your government believes in your services, then we best be mindful and careful. We need to be ready to move soon because if they followed us here, then everyone in this place would be in danger..."

I cant wait to see what you've done with my character Corsage...

Professor IQ looked at the situation and ran a bit closer to the action. The enemy was preoccupied with the frontliners as expected so he was going to make sure the tide would stay on their side. IQ stretched forth his hand again and said, "For every action, there is an equal and OPPOSITE reaction!" and siphoned the power of the enemy and transferred it to his allies. One of the Malta soldiers however managed to get around and came into combat range with the sturdy professor...
