Finally!

Sweet Mary yes!! Thank you devs for this one!

I'm very happy about this change, but there's one thing that bugs me.

We can't store recipes in the Vault. If I get a freespec recipe and want to save it for a rainy day, I've got to lose a spot in my already limited recipe inventory.

Great dev team, giving us what we want - within reason.

Thank you guys.

Oh, Positron.

Could you tell us what "level" the recipes are? For examples, costumes are level 1. Don't think it matters since anyone can use them, just curiosity...

Just park it in a Wentworth's slot. Yes, it still takes a slot but it allows you carry one more recipe.

Well, you can use slots in the Black Market or Wentworths to hold items like recipes.

But, yes it would be nice if we could also put recipes in our vault.

Hmm... anyone can use implies level 1.

This is a wonderful addition to a wonderful Issue. I think it strikes the perfect balance.

Great the minority here... It sounds good on paper... But

I really need to learn more and when you say "usable when crafted" does that mean I have to respec right then or when I'm ready.

Can I stack them like my original trial respecs, and if so how many? Or is that number unlimited, does it count aganist my regular recipes I carry which all my other respecs do not do.

Can it be stored in my Vault? Will we be getting more storage slots in the Auction House to store recipes which won't impact my other storage slots for buying and selling.

Will it require new salvage to create? If so will we be getting a personal salvage storage increase from the max of 62 which we have currently for the characters, 50 for the vault. Not including an increase to the auction house storage like I mentioned above. This of course would be in addition to that.

Well there it is inquiring minds want to know.

awesome, now I can go respec night-shade without fear of not having a respec

My only question is this: I realize some recipes can be memorized, will this be one of those? (I doubt it but I thought i would ask just in case)

I can please only one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow isn't looking good, either.

Excellent! With purples and respecs entering the market, dumb rich folk will be too distracted to buy the LotG and Numina recipes!

You can hold the recipie but once it is crafted it would be used immediately.

Not stackable, if you have a free respec, you would need to use it before crafting. It does count as a recipie.

[/ QUOTE ] Recipies cannot be stored in the vault. You could store it at Wentworths but yes that would take up one of your available Auction House slots.

[/ QUOTE ] As it is a recipie, salvage would be required to create it. I have seen nothing to indicate that storage will be increased, however, there are in-game ways of getting more storage.

This Freespec is used immediately upon crafting the recipe.

[/ QUOTE ]

It is? What happens if you cancel halfway through or get disconnected mid-respec? Do you still have the recipe and salvage? It says freespec. Does that mean if you have a freespec, it bumps the existing one out of the slot and is THEN used, leaving you with no freespec? (I'm just theorizing that someone who was thinking about respecing might get one as a drop and then decide to use it and save the other freespec (which won't take up a recipe slot) in order to "save" their freespec for later)

wow, very cool.

The recipe gives you a freespec. Don't know if you can use the recipe even if you have a freespec (thus getting nothing).

<Caveat about may-be-tweaked-before-Live.>

on Test, the recipe can't be crafted if you have a freespec, and after you craft it, is used by /respec, just like a freespec.

It currently has no salvage requirements(!), and took 40,000 inf to craft at 9, and I heard a few hundred thousand in the thirties.

One hundred thousand minions. PROCEED.

"Long ago I swore an oath -", sorry, wrong publisher.

Having repeatedly failed the villain respec trial, one day I stood fuming on a high spot in Nerva overlooking the Tree. I imagined running many missions - solo, on Villainous - to assemble the diamonds and technicians and labour to build an orbital death ray strong enough to reduce the Tree to ashes. It would still be more possible than the vines and the .99-shotting snipe.

Bweeheehee! The Devs heard my wishes!

If you have freespec available on your character there is red text at the bottom of the recipe that says "You cannot build this recipe because you still have an unused free respec."

umm... I haven't tried to see if I can craft it anyways. *runs off*

I like the idea in theory, but I do have a few thoughts.

First off, Posi mentions the original concern of the high cost 'gating' poorer users out of the process. Then at the end mentions how he thinks they might go for more than the Very Rare enhancements they're about to add even though they'll be not quite as rare as 'Very Rare'. Considering some people seem willing to pay 75 million for a 7.5% global recharge recipe this concerns me not just a little.

Also, will this now be viewed as 'the' source of additional respec thus removing future 'freespecs' with power-changing issue releases?

He's probably speculating in regards to a stabilized market. Right now the uberrares are new and shiny and they're also on the test server so this is probably not indicative of where they'll end up. Maybe some'll be higher, probably they'll generally be lower on live.

Secondly, If you're not a higher level character, odds are you still have normal trial respecs left available to you. And by the time you get in the higher levels, you're usually going to be raking in a decent ammount of funds through drops, and if you get one of these in a normal drop, that's a fair chunk of change for you right there.

So this has its up and down sides, like anything. I think it's a good compromise, personally.

There are three types of respecs:

  1. [u]Earned respecs[u] from the Respec Trials (Terra Volta or Thorn Tree);
  2. [u]Free respecs (freespecs)[u] which are given to players by the Devs as gifts or to make adjustments because game mechanics have changed; and,
  3. [u]Respec Recipes[u], which are rare Pool A (kill critter) drops.* Respec Recipes essentially are the means to create a freespec for one's character.
Freespecs are not stackable. If you have one and a new one is granted by the Devs, you'll still have only one.

If you have a freespec it is not possible to craft the Respec Recipe. You must use your freespec first, and only when you have no freespecs left, then you can craft the Respec Recipe, which immediately flags you as having a Free Respec to use.

Earned respecs from the trials are stackable. You can have three earned respecs, one freespec, and as many Respec Recipes as your recipe inventory + market slots ( + alts) can hold.

Earned respecs from the trials are used by talking to a contact (Jack Wolfe in Galaxy or Arbiter Lupin in Nerva). Respec Recipes are used by crafting them which flags you as now having a Free Respec. Freespecs are used by typing /respec.

And regardless of what Positron says, 'respec' is short for respecification, not respecialization.

*Best way to farm for Pool A recipes? Large number of minions that con blue (-1 level) or green (-2) to you. (Greys do not drop recipes. Ever. And before you post to say they do, go test it again and bring back the screen shot to prove it, we've been through this urban legend hundreds of times.) So, take an AoE specialist and Go. Hunt. Kill Skuls.

You forgot about vetspecs

Those fall under the Earned Respecs category once claimed

Jeez, I barely ever use a respec. I don't know how some of you do it

My only worry is that this will make it even harder to get on respec teams, which I think has become harder since the vet rewards. Might it be a good idea to update the respec trials, to give people more motivation to use them?

It just bothers me a little that as the game has gone on we have seen some zones become less used, monsters get ignored and now respec trials might now go the same way.

Yay for the respecs but (ignore the following if you don't care about me venting)

/venting/
The article makes me say...OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is this why EVERYTHING that's been suggested for...almost forever that makes every bit of sense takes FOREVER to get put in (I.E. alot of the past year) because you have to debate things 10920 times when the forums debate through it in like a day or two? omg../venting/

Trial Pool D recipe rewards.

You'd be surprised at how popular respec trials have become precisely for this reason.
