Discussion: Respecs - Past and Present
Yeah. I thought that it was a bit contradictory too. The fact that it is just ONE recipe in one POOL of recipes will make it the rarest of the rare. Remember all the trouble they had with costume pieces dropping before they put them in their own drop pool?
so does this mean no more freespecs?,and Is this just another way they want us to spend the tons of inf we now have due to WW/BM? resepcs made sence at first(i was ther for issue2 launch)but now with some reading you can get a very solid build from the forums,an easier way would have been just to scratch the the fact you have gotten one from the three trials, and I agree the villian side trials are boring to me I hate them ,yet I will do a hero side almost anynight

I did the tutorial and read it thoroughly in the beta, and first time I did this live and didn't know this. It needs to be made a lot more blindingly obvious so that it will definitely register.

Will it require new salvage to create? If so will we be getting a personal salvage storage increase from the max of 62 which we have currently for the characters, 50 for the vault. Not including an increase to the auction house storage like I mentioned above. This of course would be in addition to that.
Well there it is inquiring minds want to know.

Max personal storage is 80 not 62. One of my toons has 80 personal storage slots with the invention accolade and the RWZ storage sack.

Having checked this, it's not in the tutorial, it's when you talk to the representative standing around in WWs, she says:
"Your items will stay up for sale indefinitely as long as you are active in the community. If you disappear for 60 days or more, your items will be lost".
I took this to mean that if you deactivated your account for 60 days you'd lose your stuff.
I appear to have lost stuff on a couple of toons that I got no new veteran badges when I logged in (got my last vet badge 5 weeks ago), so something is wrong here, it's not even toons that have been inactive for 60 days.

Active in the marketplace.
If you log in and dont check at Wents, that doesn't help against the timeout

Might of missed it, but on test server the other day someone stuck out an idea for a fixed price and limited number per month, or week even.. sounded fairly good, the idea was that some people have billions to spend on those and they will buy them up cheap, and then re sell them for a higher price or if they find they from killing they will sell them for a high price, making it impossible for the lower levels and some underpayed level 50's to get them, so there could be a fixed price of so much, but so the people with lots to spend dont just buy as much as they want a limit per week or month on how many they can get per character.

Although there is one toon that I can't possibly imagine I logged in for any other reason than going to WWs that has lost stuff while not inactive for 60 days.
Let's look at this:
It says that stuff for sale will disappear after 60 days - none of my stuff was for sale, it was either stored or was bid orders on which I'd already paid out (fulfilled or not)
It says that stuff disappears if you're "not active in the community" how we're supposed to guess that going out arresting villains leaves you not active in the community I'm not quite sure.
This is the latest of a whole series of crass documentation errors which have cost me certainly tens of millions of influence over the years and probably now into the low hundreds, and support just don't seem to care. They don't see the situation that exists in the real world (I used to write some software manuals in the past), that if you write documentation that is misleading or even capable of misinterpretation, then that is your organisation's fault and you should bend over backwards to help the disadvantaged user.
All you get is a "Working as intended" despite the fact that you've been told either in black and white that something works differently to how it actually does (buying many copies of the stupefy "chance for knockDOWN" recipe then finding they mutated into chance for knockBACK enhancements), or as in this case the phrasing is so ambiguous that you can't tell what it means.

I'm very happy about this change, but there's one thing that bugs me.
We can't store recipes in the Vault. If I get a freespec recipe and want to save it for a rainy day, I've got to lose a spot in my already limited recipe inventory.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just park it in a Wentworth's slot. Yes, it still takes a slot but it allows you carry one more recipe.
[/ QUOTE ]
Pretty sure you can stack recipes to, so you could save up to 10 respec recipes in one slot
[ QUOTE ]
I like the idea in theory, but I do have a few thoughts.
First off, Posi mentions the original concern of the high cost 'gating' poorer users out of the process. Then at the end mentions how he thinks they might go for more than the Very Rare enhancements they're about to add even though they'll be not quite as rare as 'Very Rare'. Considering some people seem willing to pay 75 million for a 7.5% global recharge recipe this concerns me not just a little.

last I checked, 7.5 LOTG was selling for 40mil. I just recently bought 2. And influence isn't that hard to come by. Make a toon that can solo a map, like a fire/kin troller, spawn a map from a 6 man team, and run it solo. I get about 30mil a run in drops.
I smell another cry out from people like what happened to the wing recipes. People are going to complain that they cant afford the price for the recipe. Which in all honesty, will only be afforded by the filthy rich.
But whatever maybe they'll increase the drop rate on them.
I'm not sure why everyone is concerned about the price of these recipes. You have 3 respec trials, free respecs, and vet respecs to use before you would ever need these recipes. Therefore the price of the recipes will drop, just like the costume recipes did, fairly quick. The only reason costume recipes stayed high as long as they did, were because more people wanted them. They demand for these recipes will not be that high in my opinion.

I think people like to pick apart anything and everything they can. Instead of worrying about 'what could happen' you all should just enjoy the new perk we are getting.
The respec trials aren't hard. For those who say they are, maybe you should try running it with more competent people.
I agree that we should all just enjoy the new expantion and not worry about the "what if" situations. But, I have been playing MMPOGs for over 10 years now and it has not changed that much when it comes to the economy. The new recipes, all of them, not just the Respc, will ALL be for the "filthy rich", that is just the way it is and no one can change that. In time the prices will go down but, it is new and everything new has a high price tag on it. If you don't like that, you might want to consider moving to a new planet. hehehe J/K all, Just trying to point out that, Yes the prices will be high for a while but, they will drop. Will just take a little time.

Just my 2 cents...Yes the cost for this recipe early on will be high, the toons who will want them the most, will more likely be higher levels as well. They will more likely have the influence to purchase them. Just be patient the prices will come down.
I have to agree with being able to store them in the vault...you have to be careful with WW, you have limited space and time to store there. I used it once and lost what I stored there, my loss. I learned something from it though.
My only concern is how this might contribute to a resurgence of the spam tells and contribute to the spam emails promoting the cash for influ/infmy website...
Just my 2 cents

I think this is a great idea Dev's! It should really help out the Pre-issue one vet's etc.
I think this will bring great balance to the issue 11!
Keep up great work Dev's! We owe you big time for this.
Now if they add a REROLL Recipe! Not just Respect but get to compleatly rebuild your character from the very start of choosing what type. That be cool to be able to reroll a high level character and choose the new Powerset and start playing it at the High level range.

I suspect the same thing will happen. And Positron shot himself in the foot with that article. He stated that they didn't want to gate this to only people with a ton of money. So I think the devs will be stuck if these things are selling in the 8 figure range like we all expect.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
go go speed katies, du du du du du, go go speed katies du du du du du, go go speed katie, fast repeatable speed katies
Katie Hannon, 1st respec trial, hess, all can be done in under an hour, so for those that want to, it won't be that hard to eventually get them.
Cap and virgil are the two villian "fast" tf's, so same idea.
and on the light side, the recipe itself is very cheap to make, only 250,000 inf (if I recall correctly). No salvage yay.

Great idea!
I'm a long time veteran and have about, jez, maybe 5 veteran respecs for each of my toons I haven't used yet. I also have 3 normal respecs I earned and also the free respec I get every 4 months with new issues. So I'm floating in respecs. Total I probably have about 9 respecs per toon. There are a lot of veteran players like me so I suspect the respec recipes won't be terribly expensive on the market. But maybe again they will. Will be interesting to see.
to be honest I respec an awful lot because i can never make up my mind but that can get annoying because i would run out of respecs so i am glad to see that we are finally getting a way to do it freely with a price or luck of drop!
I ran the respec trial just once in October, but 4 times in September.
There are plenty of teams running them as is. Mostly it seems for the recipe these days, so the respec recipe drops shouldn't affect that one bit
