  1. Goodbye and good luck.

    You will be missed here.
  2. Locked out again.

I've had enough of 0 xp weekend -- I'm going to the movies.
  3. I'm very happy about this change, but there's one thing that bugs me.

We can't store recipes in the Vault. If I get a freespec recipe and want to save it for a rainy day, I've got to lose a spot in my already limited recipe inventory.

    PRIKTI!!!

A newspaper about the Prikit menace -- that I'd read!

The former is encouraging participation while the latter is confrontational and smacks vaguely of bullying in an effort to get the other party to 'back down'.

    [/ QUOTE ]
We are only fans. Our critics are confrontational, bullying, insulting, and passionate. Why are you holding us to a higher standard?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Like it or not Hertz- even tho you aren't getting paid for the work that you do - you represent something larger then yourself. As long as you have that editor-in-chief title next to your name- no matter what you do/say will represent what the overall feeling of "the city scoop thinks"

    [/ QUOTE ]

And as long as the Scoop is published on the forums by Ex and linked to from the launch screen, there is the perception and impression that the publication is sponsored by or endorsed by NC Soft, whether or not that really is the case.

Sigh ... I have so got to stay out of this thread ...
  6. I'm so terribly amused by this whole drama.

Ask for feedback, get feedback, tell people to "shove off," cause you don't care what they think.

Keep up the good work all -- more drama!!
  7. I'm torn as to what my opinion is.

On the one hand, I appreciate the initative, and the time and care that is put into the finished project.

Is the Scoop primarily a collection of puff? Yes. But puff has it's place.

Too much of the same kind of puff, however, quickly becomes boring. I already know I can expect the same old stuff in the Scoop -- fake horoscopes, a puzzle, art collector e-high fives, recipes, etc. -- and now I barely even skim it.

The Lord Stryker interview was the first complete article I'd read in weeks, other than the Market Report.

On the other hand ... there is a distinct air of cliquishness and favoritism about the Scoop. If you're not in "the group," then you're out. And cliques, for the most part, are don't have that much interesting to say.

Personally, I'd much rather see a wide variety of articles and topics, collected through a submission process that is fully explained and open to everyone.
  8. Try Gillian's or the RAM Brewery, Ex -- they're both large, within walking distance of the convention center and welcome gamers with open arms.

Any chance of doing a COH/COV event in the computer gaming area? How about run a TF with a dev?
  9. Thanks very much, BAS -- that's my first drawing of Fyre

and you'll get to run around in Marvel costumes

    [/ QUOTE ]
I don't even understand what this means. Is this just another way of saying "Spider-man and Hulk clones for everyone", or does it mean "tights and Kirby discs"? Either way, I don't know if I'd count that as a point in MUO's favor.

It still seems disingenous to produce a product that is actively in competition with another of your own products, but I really don't see support for CoX drying up. As near as I can tell, the two games will have their own separate teams for the most part, so the important part - having people working on and updating CoX - is secured.

    [/ QUOTE ]
But Jack is getting at the fact that Marvel is going to have a much larger team because now they have more money, leaving CoX's team much smaller.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats not necessarily true. Read the article again, note how they've expanded the staff so much that they're moving into a new building.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Also, check out the list of positions Cryptic is looking to fill . I don't think smaller staff is going to be an issue.
  11. I'm have some *extremely* long load times into missions. So long that my team *finished* the safeguard mission before I loaded onto the map.

And after the fourth client crash, I just logged off and watched a movie.

I've also had some increased lag moving across zones, but that could just be a result of the winged invasion.

Pentium 4; Windows XP; 512k RAM (yeah, I know -- I just haven't upgraded it yet -- it wasn't a problem before); Nvidia video card; latest versions of all drivers.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Of the options listed, I chose Costumes. I would have liked to choose Storylines, but I'd like to feel like I really made a difference, and as they are now, I don't. I can run the same missions over and over without end. Nothing permanent happens. Dreaming here, I know, but it would be nice to feel like something I did in the game really effected/changed something.

    QFE.

I'd love to pick bases too, but as they are they're just too useless for what they cost, too clunky to be fun to play with and too expensive overall. I shouldn't feel like a prestige slave for my base. (Oh dear, rent's due again, better play my controller.)
  13. I once teamed with a blaster (who kept complaining he had too much debt) who jumped over three scrappers and a tank to *brawl* a +4 Freak tank.

It takes all kinds -- I hope that guy liked the taste of floor wax.
  14. Best of luck, Mako!

As a rabid Deadlands fangirl, I can only hope that he got a deal for a Deadlands MMO. I'll be first in line for a beta spot.

Someone suggested I should post this here instead of the CoH General:

...will I ever be able to buy a new outfit at Icon without them stealing my pants?

I know they're not 'in vogue' anymore, since they have a fiery top & bottom pattern on them, but I love my old pants.
They're warm, cozy and worn-in just right!

I really wanted to see what they'd look like with my new GvE costume options, but sadly Serge wanted my pants as payment...and I don't swing that way.

Please tell me that someday I'll be able to visit Icon without the fear of losing my pants.

    -sexily yours,
    Back-Fire

    [/ QUOTE ]

    That crazy guy Serge ...

He does the same thing to my defender, just because she has the original suit jacket .

Every time poor Mina-ko walks into Icon, Serge tries to steal her jacket -- he's keeping a girl from shopping! That's not right!

Sure, he offers her a new jacket, but it makes her look like she's four months pregnant. And Mina-ko's not even dating anyone -- she's only sixteen!

I'm gonna keep bugging the suit jackets until Mina-ko can wear one without planning a baby shower.
  16. I maintain my pessimism.

Positron's letter was pretty and optimistic and all, but I seem to remember a time when they said COH and COV would have seperate teams, and that didn't stop COH from being ignored like a red-headed stepchild for more than a year.

I won't believe any of this sunshiney goodness (wings, storyline changes, new powersets, the invention system, ect.) until it hits live.
  17. If you're not exhausted yet there's always Fyrecracker

Thanks for making this offer, btw
  18. Wonderful work!!!

And here's my general "I'm interested." I'm on Freedom, but I've been watching your first thread for a while on the Virtue board because your stuff is just that good.

So if you want to take a crack at Fyrecracker or Mina-ko (or Mina's alternate look for that matter ) feel free!

I can send more pics if you need, and I'd be happy to work out some sort of short story for art trade -- see the Blue King comic issues 6 and 12 for some samples of my work.

    Thanks!!

oh duh Fyrecracker... you're on my list, unfortunately you're waaay at the back, but I've made a note:

"draw fyrecracker looking at opposite hand thinking about MM"

    [/ QUOTE ]

lol -- thanks very much, Lady Judgment!!!

If I could draw something besides mutated stick figures ...

I've considered doing story/background for art trades -- I'm going to work on a couple 100-word stories for samples.

But if anyone is really interested in something like that, pm me. You can see samples of my work in Blue King issues 6 (Tower of London) and 12 (The Girls of Tokyo High) of the COH comic.

I like the emotion in No. 2 -- it's very evocative.

He could be looking at a picture of Fyrecracker, and thinking "Wow, maybe she should be on the list!"

Shameless, I know, but your work is wonderful.

Nice plug though Fyrecracker and a very excellent costume.

Thanks! She's my very first Hero, and I still love that costume.

  22. Nifty! I really like the one of Tsubame.

This is just the style I need for Mina-ko, my schoolgirl storm/elec defender.

    The Costume Guy

OK ... if you're still interested, I could use the help.

    Lady Flashfire
    Science origin
    Fire/Rad controller

Katya was a child of Chernobyl. But while hundreds of others sickened and died in the poisoned environment, Katya thrived and began to manifest superpowers.

Sent to a state-run super soldier program, Katya and her fellows were "forgotten" in the chaos that followed the breakup of the Soviet Union.

She ended up on the streets, using her powers in villianous ways just to survive. She might have continued down her dark path, had it not been for Caestus Pax.

The first graduate of Utopia International's super cop program, Caestus happened upon Katya and convinced her to give up her life of crime. Now she fights evildoers in an effort to atone for her past deeds.

Her first costume is a very classic tights design, dark red and black with gray accents on the belt, chest emblem and cape lining, and a full cape. I need help with what she should wear in her 20 and 30 slots. My sg has no costume.

    Thanks!
  24. Nice guide -- thanks!

I'd be interested in seeing your build, if you care to post it. I know I've got to wait until lv. 24 (I'm 18 now) or get a freespec to dump flares, but I'm planning for what the new Midnight Fyre is gonna look like.

    Thanks!
