What IS that power that made the NPC's float? I WANT IT!!!!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

Soul Storm. Available to Stalkers and Corruptors, if they take Ghost Widow as a Patron.

Oh jeez, this makes the wait so worth it. This also makes my entire summer break worth it.

One other things I noticed, I think that elec/* brute used a temp power earned from the mayhem mission. In one part of the video he throws a fireball at a PPD guy.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's actually a patron power, from Scirocco. It's called Mu Blast. Also, the Lightning Rod power is a two-parter. The PC calls a bolt of red lightning from the sky, causing him to teleport. When he reappears, a PBAoE effect happens, causing an arc from one person to the next (possibly, I could be mixing that up with something else entirely on the chain effect). You target the ground where you want to go, like Teleport, and when you arrive, you blast the holy bejeezus out of everyone.

[/ QUOTE ]

yeah, the chain part is actually the chain lighting attack (or whatever it's called), where you attack one person, and then the effect randomly jumps around the nearby enemies (from what I understand, at least)

Lightning Rod is sort of like a teleporting version of Super Strength's foot stomp, where you cause significant damage to everything within a certain radius of where you teleport in... that's going to be a power that's a lot of fun to mess with, for sure.

I've nearly completely soloed my Stalker to 40, as well.

[/ QUOTE ]

Then you should know how you'll get through these Mayhem Missions.

[ QUOTE ]
That, however, wasn't my question. How are we supposed to put out enough damage in the limited time we get to complete these ridiculous missions?

[/ QUOTE ]

The same way we put out enough damage outside of Hide in both PVE and PVP. If all you do is "BU+AS->Run" then yes, I suppose you would have a big problem.

[ QUOTE ]
And, they ARE ridiculous, you realize...?

[/ QUOTE ]

To you, maybe. What about those of us who want a goal disguised as wanton destruction? Ah, right. I remember. We're adolescents who aren't into 'serious gaming.' Shame on us for being unlike you and not knowing what 'serious gaming' is.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's not fair, Tenryuu! I never said anyone was an adolescent if they liked these missions. I said: enjoy them if you like this sort of thing.

I admonished the Devs for using an obvious ploy to lure in the 'adolescents among us'. Heck, my nephew is an adolescent---how could I imply anything negative about being one. I was one at one time--believe it or not.

As for serious gaming: I certainly didn't mean to imply that anyone wanting this kind of gameplay doesn't take their entertainment seriously. Apologies to all who felt I did. I meant that I, me, myself and I, do not consider blow-it-all-up, arcade-type video-gaming to be 'serious entertainment' for me.

Serious as in, I prefer entertainment on an adult level. Let's face it, I could entertain myself by playing hopscotch on my sidedwalk outside---but I wouldn't get entertainment from the game, only from pondering my sanity.

to Lady Sadako: yeah, I read about the various cameras, but again, how can you square this 'sneaking' with the time factor?

I remain skeptical about all of this. I feel these missions have taken away time/resources/programming from other features that were promised long ago. Apparently, all of that has been axed in favor of all this 'new' stuff. So, my annoyance grows and grows and grows.

[/ QUOTE ]

By sneaking past the cameras on the side missions, you'll be able to achieve the sub-objectives more quickly. You thus won't NEED to blow up fire hydrants and the like.

PPS: anyone going to put up a mirror somewhere so that guy stuck in the Sands can see this? I hope? I wish I could. Though I disagree with our boys and girls being in the Sands, as it were, I still will do anything I can to help em out.

I think I hooked him up.

Oh darkest Gaming Gods of Evil, where shall I start:

--neat looking "gear" costume pieces

--the new robotic legs are very nice

--and did I hear the sounds correctly...if you have robot legs you will sound like the MM robots running around (VERY nice touch)

--the new Electric brute "zap-n-go" FX rock (suddenly I *am* interested in making one...)...so does his "explode" power

--the Paragon robocops are very cool looking, even reasonably intimidating

--the big Paragon Police "mechs" have some serious Robotech/Macross/Anime influences, interesting.

--finally we get to pick on the damned civvies! Push *me* down the street away from my contact, why you insolent...

--a nice touch spotted...the civvies react appropriatly to actions (exploding truck nearby sends them into stun-drunken-wobble)

--I so look forward to a new graphics card...had no idea what I've been missing with my FX turned down (now look what you've done!)

--I'm jonesing for the PhysX cards as well (argh!)

You disappointed me on Patron Powers, but you will likely safe-face with Mayhem Missions. Kudos!

CURRENT MAINS: Akero (V) | Polly Spark (V) | Project MALWARE (V) | Barium Bunny (VIP)
ACTIVE INCARNATES: Polly's Revenge (V) | Stygian Kitten (V) | Archon Abrasax (V) | Alpha Antares (V)
Felines | Wolves | Avians | Bovines | Griffons | Centaurs | Insects | Robots
What, you really think HUMANS are going to save the world? LOL!

Not to whine on everyone's parade, but can you tell me exactly how a STALKER is supposed to do any of these missons?

Or a Dom?

hmmm?

Didn't think so.

Oh, you've played the Mayhem Missions?

WAIT THAT'S RIGHT YOU HAVEN'T

You can solo any mission in this game. Just don't expect to do it on Relentless, whiner. My most-played villains are a Stalker and a Dominator. I've done fine.

[/ QUOTE ]

Pathetic rejoinder.

There are different alternative objectives.... presumably there are tougher, more valuable ones...

Seeing as "kill boss" fit the purpose of the stalker so perfectly, a stalker should be the last to complain about a mission type fitting an AT more than an other.

The sensible thing to do is pretty much what you said. Remain skeptical, but at the same time, you haven't played it yet so don't rule it out. I'm sure somewhere in Cryptic studios, someone was testing it out and thought the same thing about ensuring all AT's can join in the fun.

I hope it turns out to be fun for you... it looks like a good time sink, if nothing else.

I think I will finally dust off my CoV characters when this comes out. Looks fun... maybe even have to roll a new Brute. Hmmm... imagine, use 1 group to build rage, then just lightning rod into the second causing mass mayhem...

p.s. I'm loving the new costumes and character models. "Drop your weapon. You have 30 seconds to comply!"

[/ QUOTE ] You might want to change your use of words in general then. You know, not call frenetic, action oriented gameplay adolescent and childish. Doing so only serves to upset people who happen to enjoy that style of gameplay on any level and give them the feeling that you're belittling their likes and generally considering yourself superior to them.

Personally, I hardly think that a person's likes, as far as gaming goes, are in and of themselves indicitive of their maturity level. I mean, what you consider 'adult' gaming is really just another style of game that a person either likes or doesn't. Heck, there's plenty of people out there that consider any form of video gaming as entertainment itself the epitome of childishness, right up there with watching cartoons.

<shrug> That's just me though I suppose.

Sorry Johan, Lightning Rod isn't effected by Fury.

Hmm, looks like all the standard City of Heroes zones are available to be invaded. I'm fairly sure I recognized Brickstown, Kings Row, Skyway City, Steel Canyon, Atlas Park, and Galaxy City. Even think I recognized Peregrine Island or Talos Island in one of those. Don't think I saw Indie Port though.

Here's a question, though I expect the answer to be a firm "no":
Will we see zone events in our instances Mayhem Missions? ie: Lusca
