Wonder why WoW isn't on the list.
Because WoW gets a free ride from the gaming media, for fear on angering those supposed 11 million users...
  2. As much as I hate to say it, the twin blades are seriously not flipping my switch. When I heard about this powerset I was hoping for more of a rapier/ dagger combo, not twin cutlasses...

    Impressive!! Very nicely done!
Too bad I was never able to figure out how to do ANY of that, I could barely figure out how to move around!

IF SL has a fault (and like all MMOs it has a bunch) the chief one has to be that it's learning curve isn't just steep, it's absolutely clifflike. Once you scale the cliff, however...

I would join Second Life, but when I sign up, it asks for all this personal stuff that I don't want to give out.. Is it a secure site? Example, it asks for my mobile phone #?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The asking for a mobile phone number was one of the methods they used to use to estasblish that you were a grownup. They've relaxed their standards a bit since then, and now all you need to get a free membership is a valid email address
  5. I play CoX and love it a bunch, but I have a confession to make: I'm involved with another MMO, namely the project more commonly known as Second Life. For the unfamiliar, I offer up my canned explanation of SL: "Have you ever played a game and said "wouldn't it be awesome if the designers did X, Y, and Z?" Well the designers of SL have basically said "Oh, really? Well, here's the tools we use to create objects, and here's the programming language we use to make things work. Get to it." With the exception of the land and a handful of 'starter areas', everything in SL is created by the players, which are more commonly referred to a 'residents'

Of course, Sturgeon's Law applies to everything, and most of the stuff in SL ranges from 'solid but unspectacular' to 'lowest common denominator'. But then something comes along that just blows your mind....

    I present mind-blower exhibit A...
  6. In an effort to get my drawing mojo back after a bit of an absence, I doodled out this at work last night, and inked this this morning:

And the best part is, it's SOOO true!

There's more on the way! Wheee!!!

I had heard of a greek mythology game they were developing I think.

    Nah. It's Urotsukidoji the MMO.

I'm very sad to say that I might actually be interested in playing this.....yes, I know...
  8. I really like this one, it has a sort of animation cel feel to it!

The style is like a combination of Bruce Timm and Brad Bird...
  9. Forget the trenchcoats! I WANT THE POLICE ARMOR!

I gotta admit, that DOES look pratty sharp...

No trenchcoats! Middle American fashion is still reeling from the double impact of Vampire the Masquerade and the Matrix.

Preach it sister! If you think the endless schoolgirls were bad when issue 4 went live, the thoughts of the army of Neo clones that will plague Rhode Island's most dangerous city the day after Trenchcoats go live sends shivers down my spine.
  12. Almost from jump the world's greatest Superhero MMOG had been plagued by naysayers, people who were predicting the game's demise with only the flimsiest of logic to back their feelings up. Today's question is: What's your fave?

My personal fave (regrettably I don't have a link to it, and I'm too lazy to go looking for it) was the guy who was convinced that the game was 'dying' (as of just after issue 2) because the servers had so little lag!

    Superhero quiz

19 out of 21. That's either really impressive or really sad. I'm not sure which.
  14. Dagnabbit! I now have a headache from laughing so hard!
  15. When this game launched, I avoided buying it for almost six months, because I knew it wouold comsume my soul. Eventually I broke down and bouight it. It has indeed consumed my soul, and I don't regret it for an instant!

I've said it before, I'll say it again:
Just as in evolution, those that can adapt will thrive. Those that cannot will whine, cancel accounts and die.

Dood, you are officially my new hero!

    The Kudos Thread

Thank you for having the stones to put out a game that WASN'T just like all the rest....
