Statesman's Absence

Hello all,

Please forgive this "out of the loop" question...hehe

But can anybody please direct me to the link that talks about Statesman no longer being part of the dev team? Or did I hear a false rumor?

I've checked "Announcements" and couldn't find anything stating what happened and where he went.

Again, I apologize for not remaining in the loop.

Thanks much!

He moved up, Posi took his position. States is still on the Dev team though.

It was announced, more or less, in the 2nd Anniversary address from Statesman and Positron that happened this past April. It should be on the mainpage of the website.

So far, Positron has had big gloves to fill, but he's been doing a good job in my opinion. Some stuff we never thought we'd see because Statesman outright rejected them are being considered by Posi (75 accounts per SG instead of 75 characters, etc).

I thank you both for answering.

While I'm sure Statesman is working on MUO, I thought there was another game in development, too, that was more of his "baby" in a way. We all know how States was brought in as lead developer of City of Heroes long after its development, so I always got the sense that, while he loved this game, he wanted to develop one from the ground up himself.

Maybe all those tentacle beasts on the Cryptic website is a clue...

Dollars to Doughnuts any 'greek mythology' game (if such thought of developing one existed at all) took an instant back-seat, the moment two company leaders shook hands over a mahogany and oakwood conference table some months ago. I seriously doubt you'll be seeing Mount Olympus, from Cryptic, anytime soon.

I think the Greek Mythology game was just a red herring or a forum rumor.

It seems like Cryptic is touting three games right now: CoX/MUO/and the tentacle-laded adventure game. Perhaps a Lovecraftian PC game?

Statesman is still very much involved in CoH, he's just no longer as directly involved as he once was, as he's now "Creative Director" at Cryptic. With Cryptic producing the Marvel Universe Online game as well as working on some other project, he's likely got his fingers in a lot of pies as it were.

However, don't let anyone tell you Statesman is no longer influencing the game. _Castle_ has posted recently that power change proposals are reviewed by a group of people including Statesman. He even took time recently to post in a thread responding to some comments he made at a game conference, mentioning that he reads and goes through some suggestions.

According to Cryptic's website.

Cryptic is now developing several un-announced next-generation online RPGs, both internally and with outside partners.

As Creative Director, Statesman no doubt oversees all of these projects.
