Statesman's Absence

I want to stess this:
We are NOT working on a Greek mythology game. Or an ancient history game. Just want to kill that rumour!
[/ QUOTE ]
Hehe, he's had to post this so many times, well at least 3 I think.

Please note - no denials of the rumors of the Urotsukidoji game, nor of a Lovecraftian game... This can only mean one thing!
Wait...on second thought, I'm not going there. I'd rather not consider the possibilites of a hentai MMO. Plus, I don't want to be hit with the ban-hammer.

That's because every time he cuts its head off, it grows two new ones...

Oh I'm sure one of the "detectives" around here will dredge up something from ages ago where you used the words "Greek" and "mythology" in the same message, and then claim that it is proof that you promised a game about such.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wellll... my dredge-fu is weak, and there was definitely no promise... but Jack did mention doing a MMO based around Classical mythology in a "gee, wouldn't it be neat if" sort of way.
Mithras and Minotaurs Online, I'm guessing.
Well, I know what game I wish they were working on: an RTS or turn-based strategy game based on famous large scale battles from the world of CoH. WWII battles and the Rikti War with all of the heroes, villains and aliens duking it out on a huge RTS map version of Paragon City would be so excellent.
A boy can dream can't he?
A Cthulu MMO!!?? Sign me up!

We all know that's just your way of saying "Soon(Tm)".
ahhh Im betting that he is busy overseering the Marvel MMO as opposed to this supposed mythology rpg.
I am an ebil markeeter and will steal your moneiz ...correction stole your moneiz. I support keeping the poor down because it is impossible to make moneiz in this game.
[ QUOTE ]
Can I start a Deadlands rumor, just to see if they deny that one? I mean, we got Capt. Mako on the crew and Jack's bio's often list writing "deadlands supplements..."
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow, that's a great rumor. If is DOES ever come to pass, it may actually make me switch from CoH. Deadlands rocks.

No, he mentioned that he'd *like* to do a game based on ancient mythology, (IIRC), not that he *was* working on one.
O.o
Still here, even after all this time!
Since Cryptic is already in bed with Microsoft for the Marvel game, maybe Statesman can wrest the Shadowrun license from Microsoft as well and do a Shadowrun MMO!
Gothika (Grav/Kin) Marionette (Ill/Rad) Terra Firma (Earth/Storm) Alana Dale (Arch/Nrg)
Iceblink (Ice/Dark) Fantasia (Mind/Fire) Shadow Minx (Claws/Nin)

How come? Don't you just yearn to nerf history itself??
C'mon.... you know you do!

You mean there's not going to be a Hercules/Xena MMO?

Oh lordy, don't get my hopes up, chummer. Especially since the upcoming Microsoft Shadowrun game is a FPS. That's enough to make the baby combat mage cry.
The closest I've gotten to a shadowrun on the PC was doing a Steal Data mission against Crey.

Im so glad youre not working on this game. Those dudes wrestled naked in the olympic games. No thanks.

I had heard of a greek mythology game they were developing I think.

Nah. It's Urotsukidoji the MMO.

Good evening. As a duly designated representative of the City, County, and State of New York, I order you to cease any, and all, supernatural activity and return forthwith to your place of origin, or to the nearest convenient parallel dimension.

That's a shame. I think that'd be an excellent setting for a sandbox-style game. Besides, Greek stuff is cool.
[/ QUOTE ]
There is one in development, just not by Cryptic.
It's called Gods and Heroes.

Good to hear that the 16th Century Mesoamerican fantasy game's back on the table, though.

Actually I thought it was an old colonial game. Be a farmer, or a smith, or ferrier...
[ QUOTE ]
While I'm sure Statesman is working on MUO, I thought there was another game in development, too, that was more of his "baby" in a way. We all know how States was brought in as lead developer of City of Heroes long after its development, so I always got the sense that, while he loved this game, he wanted to develop one from the ground up himself.
Maybe all those tentacle beasts on the Cryptic website is a clue...
[/ QUOTE ]
CoH was Statesman's baby. He founded the company, concieved the game and contributed heavily to the backstory. But babies grow up. Time to concieve again.

Huh, that might be kinda interesting, depending on how it was set up.

I thought that's what we're supposed to do on a forum!?!?

No. I think innuendo dropping is the primary purpose of forum life.
