  1. Am I late to the post? What's happened so far? Someone fill me in!

    Jack is gone?

I'm totally lost. What is this thread about, anyway?

The Ball will only appear when you believe....
There is no Big Red Ball.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And it is only yourself that bounces.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    "Whoah."
  4. I wonder what the dev's think about this idea....
  5. Yeah, a big red ball... blue would be bad.

    Big red ball soccer
    Big red Kickball
    Big red Dodgeball
    Big red ball golf
    Big red ball Tag

Celtic's SearchFu is strong. Is this still being considered?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Hmmm... Yes, is it?
  7. Actually, there is a guide that just came up a few days back on Fire/Mace Tanks called "Being the Brute Squad," or something to that affect.

Tanks still tank, just not to the degree that they used to. You aren't invincible anymore.

Scrappers are still great solo'ers, especially the /regen set. I have a MA/Regen scrapper that I can use to solo Unyeilding missions pretty easily and invincible with a little caution. The invulnerable set for scrappers is not in the best shape right now... Dark/Dark is a good set, if a little endurance heavy.

My advice to you, if you want to solo, however, is to build a spines/regen scrapper. Spines gives you a lot of options to playstyle, and regen is just great.

the avians have begun animation, presumibly for I8. in addition there will be two varieities, one for heroes with feathered wings, and one for villains with bat-style wings.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Interesting. Where did you find this, I'd like to read about it. I would hope they let you decide on your wings regardless of being hero or villain.
  9. Interesting... I like this guide because it paints a real picture of playing with a blaster on a team.

Learn to manage aggro with the teams help, no pulling (never a fan of pulling), ect. Good stuff. I've always liked the Fire/Fire blasters. I like this build too...

There is not a button or command to quit directly to the character selection screen for security reasons.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Correct. This is an NCSoft policy that is universal to all their games.
  11. When we look at Statesman and Lord Recluse, one thing we have to remember is that story-wise they are Incarnates. The reason "ingame" that they are labeled as Tanks or Masterminds is because the game does not yet support the Incarnate AT, so when making a hero for Statesman (example) to use ingame, he has to create it off an already developed AT. From there (being devs) they are able to play with the powers and numbers, but again, they have to start with an already developed template.

    That is all.

I've nearly completely soloed my Stalker to 40, as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then you should know how you'll get through these Mayhem Missions.

    [ QUOTE ]
That, however, wasn't my question. How are we supposed to put out enough damage in the limited time we get to complete these ridiculous missions?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The same way we put out enough damage outside of Hide in both PVE and PVP. If all you do is "BU+AS->Run" then yes, I suppose you would have a big problem.

    [ QUOTE ]
And, they ARE ridiculous, you realize...?

    [/ QUOTE ]

To you, maybe. What about those of us who want a goal disguised as wanton destruction? Ah, right. I remember. We're adolescents who aren't into 'serious gaming.' Shame on us for being unlike you and not knowing what 'serious gaming' is.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's not fair, Tenryuu! I never said anyone was an adolescent if they liked these missions. I said: enjoy them if you like this sort of thing.

I admonished the Devs for using an obvious ploy to lure in the 'adolescents among us'. Heck, my nephew is an adolescent---how could I imply anything negative about being one. I was one at one time--believe it or not.

As for serious gaming: I certainly didn't mean to imply that anyone wanting this kind of gameplay doesn't take their entertainment seriously. Apologies to all who felt I did. I meant that I, me, myself and I, do not consider blow-it-all-up, arcade-type video-gaming to be 'serious entertainment' for me.

Serious as in, I prefer entertainment on an adult level. Let's face it, I could entertain myself by playing hopscotch on my sidedwalk outside---but I wouldn't get entertainment from the game, only from pondering my sanity.

to Lady Sadako: yeah, I read about the various cameras, but again, how can you square this 'sneaking' with the time factor?

I remain skeptical about all of this. I feel these missions have taken away time/resources/programming from other features that were promised long ago. Apparently, all of that has been axed in favor of all this 'new' stuff. So, my annoyance grows and grows and grows.

    Cal2

    [/ QUOTE ]

The sensible thing to do is pretty much what you said. Remain skeptical, but at the same time, you haven't played it yet so don't rule it out. I'm sure somewhere in Cryptic studios, someone was testing it out and thought the same thing about ensuring all AT's can join in the fun.

I hope it turns out to be fun for you... it looks like a good time sink, if nothing else.

I think I will finally dust off my CoV characters when this comes out. Looks fun... maybe even have to roll a new Brute. Hmmm... imagine, use 1 group to build rage, then just lightning rod into the second causing mass mayhem...

p.s. I'm loving the new costumes and character models. "Drop your weapon. You have 30 seconds to comply!"
  13. [ QUOTE ]
How are you quitting? When I plan to log out a character, I pick Quit from the Menu. It gives an option for logging to desktop or logging to login screen. Pick the log in screen and follow as usual.

If there is a option to get to the character direct screen directly, I'd love to know, I admit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In the menu, under Options, Keymapping, you can select to assign "Quit" to a button. This, however, quits to desktop w/o the option to go to login.
  14. One thing that is almost always forgotten about adopting a Scrapper:

Scrappers (especially when running in packs or in teams of other AT's) tend to suffer from color blindness and often misunderstand why others are worried about purples or reds.

"What's a purple? What's a red? Look, there are enemies to decimate! Why is everyone hanging back?!"
  15. -you had to hide your "destroyer" 8track because KISS was a satanic band.

-you owned a shoebox full of dice, pencils, and scratch paper.

-you actually said "awww shucks" after rolling your very first RPG character.

-rolling a character actually meant rolling real dice.

-you didn't have a tv, and when you were young you were told to go outside till dinner.

-you remember king's quest, space quest, police quest, and all the other Sierra games.

-Nintendo was the system to end all systems, yet you still couldn't part with your Atari. And oh boy! A light gun!?

Hey Venture, read some DC comics. If you can make any sense of them, nevermind, you can't. That's why they keep coming up with more Crisis storylines. Seems people make mistakes. Maybe revisions is a better word for comics, but whatever. Happens.

I read comics until, um, just before Zero Hour. I've only peeked at them since.

Professional work should be...wait for it...professional. Inconsistencies like this aren't supposed to happen, and when they do it is fair to criticise them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The point is, you don't have to be rude. I have never seen a Developer being rude to us. There are more tactful ways of expressing your opinion.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
I agree that the story on the website is better, but really, these inconsistencies are getting old. We keep getting told about the Huge Story Bible, and yet it seems no one bothers to actually read it before doing anything.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, How DARE they! I can't believe it. I'm gonna start writing my "I quit" letter now. It's just too much.

    Your Opinion

    [ QUOTE ]
I love playing this game, but I often get strange reactions from people when I tell them I play MMO's. How do you guys justify/explain playing the game/use of the game?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The only thing I ever have to justify is that I play CoH, because all my friends play Guild Wars... I used to, but I switched and am never looking back! Although I do dust off the old Necro every now and then.

    Sheesh, poor guy.

Rolls out some great news and keeps getting backhanded compliments.

No kidding. I don't think she was being rude though, that was said in fun. I do think, however, that the devs have some kind of office game where they all get together and see which comments they post get the most flames. They probably score them by (the nicer the dev comment) x (the meaner the flame response) = the most points.

Tell me States, well, PM me if you don't want to post it, do you chuckle reading the forums, or do the flames kill you inside?

    Ok, that's enough from me.

First...I confirm that we're working on right now (as in pohsyb in the next room) to add CoV costume parts into CoH if you own both games....
